Warriors Need 2H Axes

Yep, my brother and I have been saying this since beta. Hopefully when they release those new weapons they talked about this year, 2H Axe is one of them.
I just think that this game needs more variety, and not just in the weapon category.
Back item’s should be more then just backpacks and weird roses, I mean who honestly wants to wear a rose? I’d rather a cape/cloak in which I could have a guild emblem or cool markings. Anyways time will tell.
Edit: Obviously it would be good if new abilities were added, but if they wanted to added more weapon models they could create mirror weapons 2HAxe=/=Greatsword, Flail =/=Mace

Yeah, I want 2hand axes and it is a bit silly that the Warrior’s main artwork shows a Warrior with a big 2hand axe slung over his shoulder.

Today also, me and my friend on skype began discussing what weapons can be added to classes, we both agreed on 2H axe for Warrior, but couldn’t think of any skills, other that the standard leap to X and deal X dps, or X attack to cripple etc :/
But I think if Warrior’s get 2H axe, (my main is Warrior) then Guardian should get a CROSSBOW!!

I would actually like to know if there is any word from Anet in regards to any possible weapon additions, obviously balance would be a key issue and all classes would have to get something new at the same time.
Definitely a great way to keep the game exciting though.
If they ever add 2th axe they will share the same skins as 1h.

I personally would rather see either 1 handed Javelins or 2 handed polearms. I would lean towards polearms because the longer range would make staying on target in PvP easier. Apparently there’s a chance of it happening because some skins classified as such have been found in the game and were apparently useable in early stages of development.

What you suggest makes no sense. Crossbow is essentially a personal ballista. Shortbow is a quick firing shorter range bow that the Longbow. A Crossbow would function more like the Warrior’s Rifle. A long range, single target, slower ranged weapon.
More weapons would be great. In particular I would love 2h axes.

A bow is a bow and when considering that the majority of rifles in this games are along the musket line, it’s kinda’ hard to be able to (#3) rapid fire ‘em if ANet was going by real world standards. Me personally enjoying archery and firearms in real life and all. But in terms of diversity, it makes no sense to have a long bow and a short bow. And let’s not even argue about real world mechanics in a fantasy game ‘cause the last time I checked, you can’t fire one arrow into the air and suddenly have it raining arrows in real life. So, again, for the sake of in-game diversity, a crossbow would have been more logical in place of the short bow and perhaps rename the “long bow” to just being a “bow.”
Heck, they could have even kept the same skills but simply use the model of crossbows.

I would like to see
1. Cross bows i think that would fit in amazingly with many different classes.
2. 2 handed axes yet against could fit in with many classes
3. More weapons available to other classes Like why thieves cannot use staves still baffles me its like one of the most ninja weapons i can think of.

Would love if they added a Greataxe and it could do equal damage to Hundred Blades in PvE. Heck, I’d probably use it anyways as long as they look cool. Note to Anet: Double bladed Axes > single blade

Skill ideas for Greataxe:
Adrenaline Skill: Decapitate, does high damage, each bar makes the damage increase from Vulnerability for this skill 1.33>1.66>2X more effective (so if the target has 10 Vulnerability, when this skill hits it’s like having 13>16>20 Vulnerability)
Auto-attack chain Penetrating Chop: Does damage and causes 1 Vulnerability for 6 seconds. Penentrating Blow, same damage and causes another stack of Vulnerability for 6 seconds. Agonizing Chop: does more damage then the other 2 previous skills, and applies 2 vulnerability for 6 seconds
Skill 2, Executioner’s Strike: High burst damage skill, 10 second cool down
Skill 3, Charging Strike: Leap at your foes (600 range), with a powerful swing, gain 3 Might for 5 seconds if you hit, 12 second cool down.
Skill 4, Rending Sweep: Swing your Greataxe 360 degrees, causing 5 Vulnerability for 8 seconds, and doing high damage. 20 second cool down
Skill 5, Power Attack: Swing your Greataxe as hard as you can, doing damage and knocking foes down for 1 second. 30 second cool down
Cool downs and Vulnerability might have to be balanced, but I thought it would be cool if the weapon focused on taking advantage of Vulnerability

I like it a lot the vulnerability is very nice. It all works extremely well except for the number 2 skill. It should be a low damage but adds a huge amount of vulnerability. That way the weapon would flow a lot better. It would be all about build stacks then when the time was right unleashing your F1 for massive burst and consuming all the vulnerability stacks.

The way i see great axe is a immobile wep that will cut everything on his way that will come close, even bunker guards. By immobile i mean lack of gap closers, not attack speed ratio.
@Derps, maybe it could apply 3 Vulnerability kidn of like Maul. Rending Sweep could be the big Vulnerability applier and apply 10 stacks for 8 seconds.
Edit: Also, it would share traits with Greatsword I think
I was so disappointed when I found out there wouldn’t be two-handed axes.
Even the picture of the warrior on the webpage had one, so why the heck dont we have them<
I wouldnt even care if it was like…all of dual-wielding axe’s abilities with a different animation, I just want the aesthetic of a two-handed axe ;_;
