Warriors are by far the most BORING “profession” in this game.

I’ve always played spell casters because I like the variety, but I wanted to try something different and I’m bored to tears with my Warrior.

Last night I played with an Elementalist who could make an ICE BOW, a FIRE AXE, a LIGHTNING HAMMER… and so on, and at the mercy of him creating cool weapons for me to use, I actually had fun for a couple minutes. But that was it.

And then I realized—-> Warriors need cool magic weapons and armor to make this class fun.

Why can’t we have cool magic weapons at least?

Interesting you say that. 450 hours on my warrior. I’ve tried each of the other classes at least to level 16 and got bored and deleted them.

Go roll a Guardian then, if you want a warrior-like class with magic capabilities. We warriors don’t need no petty magics to achieve victory.

I’ve got a Warrior, Elementalist, Guardian and Ranger… the Warrior gets played 100,000x more than the rest. I’m not a fan of picking off enemies from a distance like a pansy little scavenger. I prefer to run in to hack and slash.

I´ve started Warrior yesterday (just wanted to compare him to my other two classes – Elementalist and Thief), and I was really surprised :-) It was actually fun (I usually never play warrior classes in games, the bore me to death. This one is different actually, I think that it´s because the nice ranged options here – I love ranged classes and Warrior has much funnier ranged skills than Ranger).

Edit: Not saying that the Thief (my main now) is less fun But Ele kinda is because of the unbelievable amount of bugs

How2make Warrior not boring, allow 3 weapon swaps with F1, F2, F3 (Going to be hella expensive to gear up in WvW if that’s the case cause 3 legendary weaps for the end-game content) and get rid of adrenaline.

Going to be legit broken if it does happen but this solves the boring issue lolololol.

Since people are negative about nerfs, how about we buff to balance then?

Every profession is meant to be different. Not just in tactics, but also in terms of how complicated or active they are.

Not every profession is going to suit everyone’s specific desire, because we all want a different level of both complexity and activity.

If I had to place them on a list, I’d say that Ranger was the least complex, and Guardian was the least active. Mesmer is highly complex, and Elementalist is extremely active.

Warrior is somewhere in the middle. It’s not obscenely complex, but your tools are generally unique enough that you should be investing effort into planning when to use them. Your tools are often strong, so you need to be constantly putting them to good use. Just to use an example, because just about every warrior will know it from leveling, take the Greatsword.

Your auto-attack chain is two small hits that apply vulnerability (iirc) and a big burst hit at the end.

Your 2 is a super powerful 8-hit burst, but you’re rooted in place until it finishes. If you just use it on-CD without proper planning or preparation, you’re going to take far more damage than you should. And to make matters worse, your enemy could charge someone else and the attack is wasted.

Your 3 skill is a whirl finisher, but you move in a line as you use it which gives it a great positional element. It’s great for group AoE, but also great to damage your enemy while moving out of an attack area without wasting endurance.

Your 4 skill is a ranged option that will hit everything in a straight line from the direction it was thrown, and then everything as it comes back to you, plus adds cripple. When you take the time to plan its path, it can be incredibly powerful. Just use it to hit one enemy and you’re probably wasting a lot of potential control and damage.

Your 5 skill is a gap closer. Great for the obvious purpose, but it has other applications as well. Moving out of range for a big attack area, for instance. Maybe you draw an enemy away from the group, cripple them with 4, then charge back to the fray. Etc.

So even though it’s generally hailed as a lol-easy weapon, it’s complexity actually allows for a lot of unique tactics. Sure, the skill threshold is set fairly low. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t sizable returns for using it with more skill.

And your F1 adds Adrenaline for a nice +20% Crit, which you can use for GS burst OR you can switch to another weapon and make use of it there.

And then there’s your second weapon. Take a rifle and you’ll be one of the game’s best single-target kiters. It’s not a super complex weapon, but it’s powerful. If you let your bullets pierce, you can do some solid group damage too.

Take the Longbow and your tactical capability just sky rocketed. You now get to play with two great burst skills, and you can create fire fields to play off of with your GS finishers, or self-chain the bow for Area Might.

Or maybe you take Axe/Warhorn as your offhand, so you’re constantly moving through close-mid ranges, switching between support, control, and damage. Etc.

When I approach the Warrior that way, as something I need to play with tactical awareness, it’s a lot more fun. Not so complex I feel exhausted just keeping up with everything, but not so boring I just spend all my time auto-attacking (like what I essentially do with my Guardian now).

If you just auto-attack as a Warrior, you’ll do better than most other professions doing the same. Doesn’t mean you’ll do well. And there’s just as much of return for having skill with this profession as any other.

idiggory’s post pretty much sums it all up (and very insightfully I might add), but I’d also like to add one thing. Now maybe I’m just simple-minded and easily entertained, but having played since launch, I gotta say Savage Leap + Flurry = endless fun. I could do that all day!

I don’t think it would have been a bad thing if they exaggerated the Warriors abilities a bit more. For better understanding look at stomp. It’s also why I find the Hammer to be the most exciting weapon.

I think the warrior is the most versatile Class in the Game.
You can play it ranged, you can play it tanky, you can play support, you can go for CC, built a crit or con built.. or even mix some of those aspects…
Many different Weapons and its combinations . Change a weapon can change th playstyle emense.

If I get bored of a weaponset I switch weapons and maybe traits and rock another different playstyle.
Cant say its boring in dungeons because you have to pay attention not getting oneshotted in melee while my Rangerfriend went AFK autoshooting.

Imo Warrior is the most balanced class out there..still not flawless but compared to others quite balanced imo.

Look is cool. although there arent as many good looking heavy mail armor in the game I figured out a nice Set using not too flashy stuff. I prefer the oldshool knight type and oldshool weapons you can recognise the kind of weapon. Not like in Wow where you got a colorfull sparkly “Thing” that does stuff but you would never guessed that this is a Sword.

So OP: I have to disagree

470 hours on my warrior, I tried other classes and got bored to death they are either to slow or to squishy.

In every other mmo I always used to pick magician/elementalist but with this game I fell in love with warriors for the 1st time ever, I think what did it for me was the melee / ranged combination coupled with multiple weapons

I got necromancer as main , engineer , warrior , mesmer and elementalist as alts.
I have tried warrior 1st , then guardian and thief . Finally , I returned back to my beloved warrior XD.
I think that guardian and thief are boring , specially the thief as he got mana points (Initiatives )

All 80es > MM necro is my best ,cleric
guard ,nades eng ,Trap thief \ranger ,signet\shout warrior, zerk mes\ele & shiro rev.

Movement + positioning + reflexes, playing warrior is like playing an action game, what boring again?

I feel boring when i played some trinity MMO caster, just remember the skill pattern, rotate it again and again, foes dead without even touching me is what i felt true boring. What is the skill without measuring distance, position advantage, good interrupt timing, dodge timing, read the situation? None…

OP, when you play warrior do you only use GS? cuz i used GS for quite a while and the gameplay got real boring to me when i tried to play as a dd role, felt too monotonous until i switched to playing with healing shouts and suddenly there was so much i needed to keep track of and it felt awesome Try messing around with different weapons and builds, warriors may not have any magical weapons ( note : staff and scepter) but we got almost every physical weapon in the game!!! (we dont have pistols )

I like the versatility of warriors attack, while there are not a lot of flashy spells, the animations for most wepaons are very eye pleasing (to me!) … only one I would change is the “rush” amination for great sword 5… I do miss the “leap of faith” animation from my guardian.
