"Warriors are viable"
I completely believe in the viability of Warriors. If I did not, I would not have equipped 4 legendaries to him. Warrior is viable, but it needs to have certain mechanics looked at and fixed.
Human Warrior / Asura Guardian ( SPvP / TPvP r40 ) / Charr Guardian

you talking about pve or pvp? I know pvp they’re pretty limited, but not in pve although I wish they can add some more condition effects to weapons. and traits.
Who is the “community” you are talking about?
Most warriors seem to be active and playing their warriors.
Maybe not the high-end players that want the most rigged character in the game.
Warrior for life! He’s my only level 80 character and I love it! So much fun beating the crap out of everything with 100 blades! Seriously though, it never gets old
Yes, I discussed with him the viability of the Warrior in the PvP forums. Warriors are not the top viable burst nor bunker (nor second/third/fourth).
I agree that I would love to see changes to the Warrior so they can contend with the rest. I enjoy the Warrior class and I have high hopes as to what it will become, but as of right now it is depressing in tPvP.

Really? I PvP occasionally, and there seem to be a plethora of bad players… bad players that will take a Kill Shot or Volley straight to the face. They drop dead in an instant lol…
That being said, yea… when the skill level of the opponent is high, there isn’t much you can do…
Now… WvWvW…. kill shot, volley, and burst with LB from the outskirts of a Zerg is HIGHLY entertaining
I try try try to defend warrior viability. Post builds and equipment. Stream from war pov, run in a dual war comp, etc etc.
But the community has its mind made up, warrior is unviable.
Don’t bother trying to argue with this community. We’ll taste their tears when Warrior gets over-buffed.
.
tPvP wise? Yeah, playing a warrior is a good way to handicap yourself. That being said, I generally do just fine at my level which is generally just frees.
WwW wise? I feel like I contribute on the front lines as the ‘other half’ of a guard. My favorite thing to do as of late is ES groups trying to portal, also dishng out damage as ele’s AOE their unfortunate disabled kitten I can solo defend camps within reason without siege, escort yak’s with perma swiftness solo (not even specced into boon duration, provide a great deal of delay in keep defence… All in all a very good class here.
In PvE? Warriors are totally op here.
I think the big difference for warriors in WwW vs PvP is the ability to distribute stats. Warriors don’t really fit any of the roles in PvP either, but this is more of a problem with the current game mode than with warriors.
Some faster animations, bug fixes and some nonsensical skills replaced and we’d be on par with the unbroken classes of the game if you ask me.

Agreed. Inform, but don’t argue.
The majority.. I think it’s safe to say 95%, of the people that comment don’t know what they are saying. People will put up builds for level 80 dungeons yet not even be level 80… others will put up pro-builds yet wipe 5+ times in a dungeon… and others will say a class sucks without ever playing that class.
All in all, warrior is not a great PvP (WvWvW, I Would argue that it is pretty good), but with skilled play, it can still be viable. Just wait for our buffs
If none come… sorry man…
I’m a purely PvE warrior though hehe
Mesmer for PvP…. Lol sorry… shattercat is just too amazing.
it hurts to read stuff like this…
Viable ?? Hell yeah ! [ in some hands more- in some hands less viable ]
On par ?! Hell no !
What should be the case in a pvp enviroment of a game that advertises itself as being skill based ? [ Tho we all know, even ANet themselves admitted that at least the warrior class is not personal skill based – since the new description states we need babysitters … how that correlates to personal skill is a myth to me ]
and…
“Most warriors seem to be active and playing their warriors.”
I rly wonder how you would have the insight on such an internal player statistic no one else seems to have.
I can only speak from my personal experience… that said, there are a lot of rank ~ 10 warriors around in pvp who will probably have switched classes by the time they reach rank 20 or enter any form of non-hotjoin comp pvp.
Sometimes i meet higher ranking players on warrior, tho mostly in starter gear which indicates to me they are just fooling around, testing stuff or the likes and will probably not stick with em.
And when you say most warriors… you mean most warriors still left to the profession ? Because i knew a lot of warriors, all of which have rerolled at this point.
90% of the time i target a plate class in the mists, it turns out to be a guardian.
And i guess we dont really have to argue about warrior viability or existance in high end comp pvp…
But not good enough!

I would not have main’d my Warrior from launch up to this day if I didn’t believe in our viability. However, I am not ignorant enough to turn a blind eye and completely ignore the many faults and flaws that do exist with the class, especially on the PvP side of things.
Do you even lift, bro?
My only character, that made it to lvl 80 (actually it’s the only with a lvl > 40) is my warrior. I absolutely love the class, the weapon options, the trait synergies and the skills. Ecerything I do on my warrior feels honest and brutal. No cheap stuff, just raw force and skills.
Now do I think he is viable? In PvE warriors simply are the god class. Our healthpool, while meaning little in PvP, gives us enough survivability to go 100% damage, shredding mobs to pieces like noone else. Pair us with a good support guardian and you have a godlike team.
In WvW we are okay. Not as useful as Mesmers and Guardians with their battle changing skills and not as good for roaming as Thieves and DD Eles, with their unmatches escapability. We bring good damage and control if we build for it. Buff some stuff a little bit (like Mobile Strikes removig cripple/chill or Endure Pain ignoring condi damage as well) and we are on par.
sPvP I can’t comment much, because I don’t play much. I felt pretty lackluster, so it wasn’t much fun.
Hoping ANet reads this.
Well, I for one don’t think warriors bad at all!
For some reason most of the speed runner dungeoneers like having 3 warriors (who are specced for massive damage) in their party. I mean, there’s no other class (that comes to my mind right about now) that can be as efficient in pve the way the warrior can. Champs and other mobs that are affected by that adorable -CC effectiveness are what makes warriors a no brainer in pve. I guess that’s to blame but still, they wreck like no one has ever wrecked before.
Open world pvp and Spvp is a different matter but they are FAR from not being viable. You probably won’t be pulling the same stunts you can in pve but you’re a force to be feared. That said. there are bad players everywhere and that’s why every class in the game has a bad tag attached to them for some reason or another.
Play w/e you feel like playing. In the end having fun is what really matters.
It is the viability of the Warrior in the tPvP and solo sPvP queuing.
Yes, the Warrior might be amazing against foes that don’t understand their class and ours, but if you run into someone who actually has a idea about his build/our build then it is not even a fight.
I am not saying Warrior can not do good in sPvP solo hot join games. I am saying we can do well if the other players are bad. There should not be a stipulation onto what the other person can, or can not, do for how effective our profession can be. It should be in our hands, so that even if two players meet and are evenly skilled it is a close fight. Not a slaughter that it is right now.
Even if a Warrior is played very well a mediocre Mesmer can kill you without to much trouble. Same for Ranger/Guardian/Necromancer/Thief. Engineer is the only other class that suffers, not to the same extent, from the same thing.
Bringing the professions up to par with one another should be one of the top priorities for this game, but it is taking a back seat at the moment so they can push out more content. All the while the PvP is getting more and more like a giant Ranger/Mesmer/Thief convention.
The fact that another profession only has to spam chill/cripple to take the Warrior out of a fight is both sad and pathetic.
There are some flaws to the Warrior, but I’m overall happy.
I would be willing to take a hit in damage for some more utility though.
Saw a warrior in full zerker setup wreck face with a GS/Hammer. He used both weapons magnificently. Three shot people with the hammer. If I had a warrior, that’s how I’d play. High risk big reward.
