That will depress me greatly if so.

Out of all the current weapons warrior would most benefit from something like dagger.

0;42 – i dont see a sh..
0;54 – imho revenant as the end of aa chain is a whirl finisher.
1;23 – that was revenant leaping 2 skill (my guess). You can see that by the mist swing. If it was a war it would be yellow/orange

I realize this reply is three days late but nobody fully explained why.

Every race has a different animation set that is paired with certain skills. In the case of the Charr; Guardian’s Line of Warding, and Warrior’s Banner summons (including Battle Standard, just slowed down) share the same exact animation. This can again be seen on Charr between a Guardian and Elementalist. Charr Guardian Empower has the same animation as Meteor Shower on a Charr Ele.

As for the human animations, if I recall, the human line of warding and banner summons are also identical, though I could be wrong on that, I do not have a human warrior.

In addition to all of the info already given, I have a feeling no two classes will be getting the same new weapon. So far we know:

Ranger – Staff
Engi – Hammer
Mesmer – Shield
Necro – GS
Guardian – Longbow (supposedly, hinted in a WvW video)

So far there is no overlap. If I had to guess I would say that no classes will be getting new primary 1 handers. They had an interview where they tried to drive home the fact that if you don’t get a 2 hander that the final 2 skills will be very impactful on the offhands.

Ele seems to be getting sword… Granted… 3 skills for Ele is actually 12 so there’s that…

I’m still thinking it will be a pistol OH. Warriors have been seen with them in more, they have lots of main handed weapons to work with it. No one else is getting it. And it makes the most general sense.

This sounds like an educated guess. Still a guess.

Say it’s true, then Dagger and Pistol remain the most likely options.

I really don’t care. Just give me a new weapon already.

I agree with it being either pistol or dagger. I too am leaning towards pistol, it’ll possibly give more ranged options.

Maybe this mysterious F2 skill will be a burst tied to offhand weapons. What that means for 2handers I don’t know.

as far as my personal preference goes, i dont like the idea of offhand pistol or dagger very much.

Having said that. If we are getting an offhand weapon, and with anet having said, the classes that loose out on a real 5 skillweapon will get something equally good skillwise – I sure dont hope they slam a f2 skill on our adrinlin bar and call it our specialisations “new mechanic” which “plays totally different from the current base class”….

I can always hope i guess xD

I actually would love to get a MH/OH dagger option. One of the largest issues we have as a class is our slow, telegraphed attacks. A dagger would mostly likely be a fast, highly responsive weapon.

I don’t have anything against pistol, but I really just don’t see it being useful for War. We’ve already got ranged options, the ubiquitous longbow, and a rifle that’s badly in need of tweaking.

I would also LOVE a landspear (basically what all wars want badly), or melee staff.

I just looked at the revenant weapon skills again, and i feel seriously envious.

These staff skills should have been the warriors -.-

an aoe taunt, knockback, cc, and dmg modifier, a whirl finisher aa chain. im about to cry.

well, our most likely offhand pistol with slotskill 4 being a “shoot” and 5 “dropback” being just as good…..* runs off with teary eyes * (“maybe” a little to pessimistic here)

I’m voting for a MH Pistol or just a MH ranged weapon, it’s what Warriors are lacking currently.
Shield (blocks), Warhorn (condi cleanse) with melee and range in the same build? That’s crazy good.

Idk, I honestly don’t really care what the new weapon is. I’m happy with my current weapons (almost got my second legendary), so I don’t really want to change any time soon, outside of various specific needs. I care more about maybe getting an F2 skill, or a taunt.

If they give us an off hand (dagger/pistol/torch) we’ll probably get:

Dagger: block and shadowstep or stealth skill
Pistol: Stun or daze (or cripple/immob) maybe a taunt?
Torch: either block, burn, blind, or taunt skill
Any “magical”: a ranged stun (as we throw it), and maybe a boon skill

I can’t see any of the off hand options giving great direct damage. They’ll most likely be condi or support oriented.

I can’t think of any 2H for us to get. I doubt we’re getting staff if Revs are getting a martial version of it. And it would be odd for a sb to be power based (our lb is already condi based), it’d just be the opposite of the ranger.

Honestly I just hope they give the current weapons new skills for the spec (and spread some of the new conditions/boons to our current stuff). I really wanted chooseable weapon skills, but I guess that isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

Dagger: block and shadowstep or stealth skill

War will never have direct access to stealth, nor should we. We have a crapppy block on oh sword and shadow step is also highly unlikely.

Your other suggestion for a magical thrown boon attack or whatever, is also a nonstarter because we have no access to magic.

Pistol would be great.

Right now the only way to get a Warhorn and a ranged weapon is taking Axe/Sword.

Giving Warriors a main hand Pistol that is useful (which means power, not condition based) would offer a lot of new weapon options and allow stuff like Hammer + Warhorn and still have range which would be awesome.

I’m sorry to pick on you, but this is a peeve of mine over time. Specializations are special and not the same class. Warriors have no access to magic, but a warrior specialization is not a warrior. A druid is by and large not a ranger. These are considered new “sub-classes”, and as such may take a slightly different identity.

That makes no sense. Druids still uses pets, [insert name spec] for ele still uses attunements. Guardian covers light magic aka paladin and revenant dark magic aka death knight, and warrior has nearly no access to magic (in lore everyone uses magic, even warriors but in practice not so much). What magic would warrior perform if all types are already covered in heavy section?

Or better yet, whats the point of revenant if they could just give warrior access to magic – Rytlock would bring specialization called revenant, just like Marjoly brings necro a gs? Warrior will remain as a profession that cant use magic and specializations wont change that.

I didn’t make the rules. ANet said they are unique classes not me. It transforms the class to a new secondary class that is unique and able to perform things the base class couldnt. That’s exactly how warrior could end up doing magic, by becoming something unique with the same core.

Rangers can’t use druid magic. Rangers still turn into Druids…

Also, “casting magic” doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive or we wouldn’t need mesmer, ele and necro… It’s all the same right? >_>

Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.

I believe druids use magic of nature just like ranger :P

Never said we should have stealth, but what else would a dagger bring us that that one of our off hands doesn’t already do. Even if it was just a 2sec smoke field on block (like how the Rev gets quickness if he blocks) it would still give us access to stealth.

And I didn’t mean “magical thrown boon attack”. I meant he throws the focus like a rock at the target to daze/stun them, or he rubs it or whatever and gets a boon. Or hits himself to make him angry and gets adrenaline.

Also my point was basically, what can we get that we don’t already have covered, especially by an offhand. We have defensive (shield), condition (sword), control (mace), damage? (axe cough), condi removal/swiftness (horn). Support (self or party) and a better damaging one are the only things I can think of.

Also without knowing the name (or purpose) of our spec, all everyone is doing is wish fulfillment. We have no idea what we could get or are limited to, so we could technically get anything.
