Weapon Idea: Great-Axes
My only complaint is why in gods name wasn’t this in the game in the first place. Seems to straight forward and common place in any other MMO.
As much as I would like to see 2H axes, I can’t figure out what role they’d fill that isn’t already covered by stuff.
Instead I go to poleaxes, because it’d probably be nice to have a midrange weapon sometimes.
Priorities, what to do?

I think it would fit the roll between Hammer and Greatsword.
-GS being mobility
-Hammer being control
Great Axe Burst – could be a two handed leap at a target, not a aoe effect. Leap would knockdown the target and those around them and give the war fury.
Attk1 – could be a standard slice, with the 4th hit doing a quick whirl hitting things in an aoe and applying cripple.
Attk2 – could be a leg chop that immobolizes and grants might to the warrior
Attk3 – could be an overhead axe throw that does damage and places vulnerability on all enemies in its path
Attk4 – could be a Rush to an enemy dragging your Great Axe on the ground, leaving behind it churning earth that cripples and applies bleeds to enemies that cross it. Gets to the target and does damage to an enemy / cripples.
Attk5 – could be Whirling GreatAxe that is similar to Whirling axe for 1handed Axe, but any enemy it hits becomes crippled.
Essentially, no stuns, focus on cripples/immobolizers, moderate gap close, decent damage.
Now you have a new niche.

I see your point, but direct damage isn’t really a niche. It’s something every weapon does to one degree or another. Immobilize and cripple aren’t necessarily vastly different from each other, tactically.
It doesn’t seem different enough to be a true niche. A variation, sure. But in that case you run into problems of redundancy.
The issue with Greataxe is that, by design, it necessitates an aggressive playstyle. But one niche Warrior 2H weapons could certainly fit is defense/support. If you substitute, like a poster above mentioned, Greataxe for Polearm, you could conceivably make a 2H weapon that focuses specifically on defense. Space management, blocks, weakness, counters.
Plus, a greataxe is potentially a type of polearm. You’d have more visual variety in weapon design, from greataxes to halberds to spears.
In all honesty:
I just want something that goes chop chop with 2 hands, that’s offensive but not based on burst damage.
This was mentioned in the beta forums and one of the devs said that it wouldn’t be in release but might be a part of an expansion.

I’d like to see a Cantha based expansion of some sort adding Eastern themed weapons and armor, but no pandas, definitely no pandas. More in line with the Nightfall expansion of Guild Wars 1.
