What weapons are people using for solo leveling with a shield?

I plan on being like a “tank” build later for dungeons and whatever and I’m also what weapon would be good for that type of gameplay (probably mace?).

Also, is leveling with a shield even worth the time or should I just go greatsword like everyone else? I just think having a shield makes my character look better.

GS will be faster, but go with whatever you feel like. If you plan on being a “tank” in dungeons you will probably be sorely disappointed as GW2 doesn’t support that type of play. Nevertheless, a mace would be most beneficial if you are trying to avoid damage.

If you don’t care so much for suvivability and still wish to go with the shield, aim for a sword instead.

If you want to be tanky in a dungeon id go with warhorn over shield. Personaly i like banner regen in 30 tactics and Warhorn convert conditions to boons over anything in the defense line. Shield isnt strong enough imo as it stands and the onlything good in defense traits aside from the adren regen at 15 pts.

Shield is mostly for PvP to be honest. But if you’re fighting normal mobs to complete some hearts, then Mace + Shield isn’t bad if you couple the stuns with Hundred Blades and Unsuspecting Foe.

I used gs while leveling to 80 but recently switched to axe and shield and have been loving it. Killing stuff just as fast if not faster and not as squishy. Have always had a bow as my secondary and don’t think i will ever switch it out.
