race won’t matter period. the weapon and such is really situational so i’d suggest playing around with’em all to unlock the skills, and use whichever you want. the only time the weapon matters will be in PVP and in late game contents.

i do suggest sword or greatsword for leveling because they give you a lot of mobility (hence speed up the leveling process)

I think a greatsword would be the best leveling weapon. Add a longbow to that and you will be able to crunch up mobs with your AoE fire damage and your Greatsword will give you good mobility and damage. Also for utilities signets are a great beginning utility. Signets are utilities that have a passive effect that will buff you in some way. as well as a situational active effect. That upon using the signet, the signet will be put on a cool down. And also you will lose the passive effect of the signet. For example, the Doylak signet grants 180 increased Toughness (defense) and the active grants you stability for 8 seconds (Stability is a boon that resists stuns/knockdowns/fear/ etc.)

asura has pretty nice animation and it seems to me like they put much more effort into it. being small also has an advantage in pvp.

that being said, some people feel that they don’t feel ‘powerful’ enough when playing asura. up to your personal preference i guess

I had an old guildmate who rolled an Asura warrior and absolutely loved it. You could try a few different races up to level 10 and see how you like it.

I’m levelling using Axe/Shield and I’m loving it! I can take on 4-5 at once with no problem. But try everything out and decide which suits your playstyle the most.

Asura Warriors are awesome. They tend to carry weapon slung over a shoulder and not off to the side I personally think it looks much better.

Animations look faster, but weapon speed is the same. Travel speed looks faster but is the same. A lot of armors do not crop though your head like you will see on the bigger races.

Asura warriors are very deadly in a Zerg, because you often get overlooked, literally, when there is a giant standing next to you.

And, of course, Asuras hit the knee caps of other races a lot when fighting, which just makes them plain old mean.

^ These are all excellent examples of why Asura should always be your first choice. All negatives are grossly outweighed by the simple fact that Asura are the most FUN to play….there’s a reason why ANET devs are often seen in-game, rolling around on Asura warriors!

Agreed.

Should have made my thief an Asura, would have been a lot of fun to kill people by stabbing them in the calf.
