Guild Wars 2

I see some skills that seem really lame to me. Yet, I’m sure they balanced the game, so every skill should have some use, and I’m just not seeing it. I think I do a particularly poor job of using the speed buffs/debuffs to any effect in battle. Please post here your favorite skill or two, and tell us how you get the most out of it.

I’ll start.

The skill I almost always have on the bar is Signet of the Dolyak. I hate having my greatsword’s hundred blades interrupted and watching my butt bounce across the cave floor. I’m not not expert at picking up the tell with every mob. Glowing clubs are easy, but some, like the golden moa, I still haven’t got. The passive isn’t particularly strong, but I am trying to have a survivability build, so I’ll take every shred of addtional defense.

Please, feel free to tell me what should be taking up space on my bar.

I really like interrupt moves in PvE. I tend to either have bull rush or the kick on my bar for that interrupt.

Also Berserk is great if you need to build up adrenaline for you build. Very good stuff.

mm I love my mace shield combo, using charge, mace stun then my adrenaline consumer for maximum stun, or just the mobility available from sword shield, with lunge and charge.

I tend to play more tanky/support than anything else, so anything that lets me intercept enemies going for my teammates helps a tonne.

Shrapnel Mine

It’s seriously underappreciated. The explosion is considerably larger than it seems (the targeting circle seems to be the “detonation” range rather than that of the actual explosion), it deals damage despite not saying it does, a long bleed, and a considerable area cripple on a swift cooldown. Brilliant for kiting, as well as throwing under your feet while running away.
