can you say why? ppl say warrior can be pretty op
So my first char was a sylvary warrior, which in the endgame sucked very bad since i couldnt even solo a kitten karka:))
here is what i put in trait and would like you to tell me what i did wrong?
(was wielding GREATSWORD)Strength 20 V- Berseker power: Increased damaged based on built adrenaline (3%/7%/12%)
IX- Slashing power: Greatsword and spear damage increse 10%Arms 10 V- Rending Strikes:33% chance to get vulnerability on critical strikes
Defense 20 IV- Vigorous Return: Increase HP on rally
I – Embrace pain: Gain adrenaline when hitTactics 20 III- Desperate power: deal 20% additional damage when below 25% max hp
II – empower allies: increase power of nearby allies by 70 pointsDiscipline 0
i know i made mistaked, obviously but which are they?
Well, personally I’m not a big fan of the traits you picked in Defense and Tactics.
- Vigorous Return only helps you if you get downed. Rather than trait for when you get downed, you should trait for not getting downed in the first place.
- Embrace the pain gives you 1 strike of Adrenaline per hit. That means you need to be hit a full 30 times before you get the full three bars. That’s a ton of hits.
- Desperate Power only helps you when you’re low on health. Again, this is something you should try to avoid, rather than prepare for when it happens. Secondly, when you’re that low, you’re best off kiting and waiting for your heals.
- 70 Power really isn’t that much. That’s equal to the amount of power you’d get from 2 stacks of might.
- Going 10 into Arms just to grab Rending Strikes is sad.
For greatsword, the best traits that you can pick are:
- Forceful Greatsword (Arms X)
- Berserker’s Power (Strength V)
- Heightened Focus (Discipline V)
That sets your build to be at least 10/20/x/x/10. From there, it’s very much a personal thing. If you like switching weapons, then going 10/20/x/x/15 for Fast Hands is good. If you like defense, then going 10/20/20/x/10 for things like Adrenal Health, Last Stand and Dogged March is good. For more damage, you would go 20/20/x/x/10 for Slashing Power (Strength IX).
Honestly, Tactics is a pretty bad traitline for Greatsword. The only exceptions are Leg Specialist and the Sonic Boon setup (which is basically 30 into Tactics and massive amounts of boon duration for high might stacks and ridiculous fury/swiftness uptime).
I can solo a Karka in a few seconds on my Greatsword/Hammer Warrior, I lead with Hammer so when it starts it’s rapid attack I just use Backbreaker>switch to Greatsword>Hundred Blades and if it’s still alive Whirlwind Attack
20/25/0/0/25 trait set up. Strength: V, IX. Arms: VI, X. Discipline: V, VI or VII. Full Berserker gear
The mistake you made is putting so many points in defense and tactics. I always use traits to maximize my weapon sets and compensate for stats with armor and trinkets.
This is a GS/Longbow build I use in PvE and I have no problems killing anything.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
The mobs in Southsun can be very difficult as compared to other mobs in the world the same level. Especially for melee classes. However, you should be able to kill multiples of them at the same time.. not mindlessly however like you can with other level 80 mobs.
You will have to make use of your dodge, dont just stand there and take damage…
Try out this spec:
10/25/20/0/15
This is what I currently use for PvE with GS/axe,shield. It could also work with other weapon types by changing a few traits around. It is the best Balanced build in my opinion. Focus on taking a lot of signets as their passive buffs are quite useful now.
Learn to dodge at the right moment or go high Regen/Toughness build, low dps but you can actually go AFK while a karka is attacking you xD

Your traits are a bit of a mess to be honest… I’m too tired to start suggesting builds right now, but honestly, it’s irrelevant… You’re a warrior. With a GS. Killing ONE karka shouldn’t be an issue regardless of your build or gear… So instead, a few questions:
- Was it a Veteran Karka? The large ones? Southsun has stronger mobs than roughly any other area, and Veterans particularly can be quite difficult to solo if you don’t know them decently enough. Veteran Karkas are considerably harder to kill than mostly any other Veteran in the game.
- Did you dodge their attacks at all or just try to facetank everything? Tanking in this game is a lot about avoiding damage, more so than in most other similar games. Karkas almost always open up with a spinal barrage attack, where they crouch and shoot a burst of spines at you. That’s not the kind of attack you should try to tank. It’s telegraphed for a reason – get out of the way. A full barrage can do some serious damage on even a tanky character.
That’s about it really. Killing a karka (or almost anything…) with a Gs warrior comes down to Hundred Blades and WW, dodging while appropriate, till the thing drops dead. It’s one of the easiest classes to PvE with.
Note: Against Karkas specifically, it’s a lot easier to carry a shield and the missile deflection trait. This is because of the aforementioned spinal barrage attack – every spine is a projectile that can be reflected. Meaning that whenever you have a reflect available you also have a completely free karka kill, as they practically kill themselves because of reflect. Practical and hilarious.
Karkas are pretty easy to solo. I run a specific build just for killing karkas though. Axe/sword + Axe/Shiled. Trait Defense Reflect projectiles. Put your sword or shield block up right before the karkas volly. Karka should be half dead now and your still full hp finish it off now.
But back to your build dude. mainly what you did wrong is you traited useless things, or you didnt add enough points into the trait line to get the useful things.
Vigorous Return is only use full if you go down and rally. It should be your mission not to go down to begin with. Embrace the pain is ok but its not needed. if you want to add 20 points in defense get dogged march and last stand or reflect projectiles.
If you want to add 20 points in tactics get Empowered you get more damage per boon. and leg specialist you immobilize when use a cripple skill. Or quick breathing if your using a warhorn.
Discipline is actually useful for at least 15 points for faster weapon swaps. I usually put at a minimum of 15 points in the line no mater what build im running.
Arms is very usless with only 10 points. Arms doesn’t truly shine unless you put 25 points in it or 20 if using a gs.
Lastly strenth is ok. Biggest problem with it is berserkers power only really shines when your full adrenaline the moment u use a burst skill its gone. When you go really deep in strenth to pick up other skills that add 10% damage or 5% damage or whatever, its kinda not making you better becasue there are other ways to get that damage without putting 20 or 30 points there.
warrior and we’re the best class” Eugene
