Hello, just thinking of start a new toon, and I though about a rifle build warrior, but still not sure what race is a best fit, as far racial skills…any suggestions?

Charr, duh.
They’re war incarnate.
+ They are the most “gun blazing” race.

I guess I will try charr, I just think Charrs are too bulk and big for a sniper hide out build, they can be spotted from far away..LOL

Well, Charr is popular for warriors basically because that’s what they do.

I made a human, though. I guess I’ve always preferred to make a “normal” character first before moving onto “for fun” characters. If we’re talking about racial utilities, though, I think either Asura or Sylvari have the most useful for a warrior: ranged CC (technobabble for Asura, grasping roots for Sylvari). Either way, though, I think it’s what you’d be happiest with. I’m happiest with a human warrior.

Charr do have some useful (as far as racials go) utilities in their landmine, hidden pistol, and charrzooka. The big ones do look a bit silly sniping with most weapons though, although the precursor rifle looks pretty big on them and the legionnaire’s rifle is pretty fitting too.

You can make (relatively) small and skinny ones if you use the lowest slider setting and bottom-left body type.

Of course, if being seen is really a consideration for you, it doesn’t get any smaller than asura. But you might not want to spend heaps on good looking gear, because only other asura stand any chance of seeing it.

I use a Charr. But I’m not a big, bulky Charr either. I wanted to be a bit more unique so I went to the smaller side. I’m still a bit larger than most other races in-game (aside from some Norns) so if you’re looking to be tiny and unseen, Charr probably isn’t your best option. But for the sake of sense I’d say Charr is the best for Warrior.

This isnt like wow, race doesnt matter at all. Play whichever you want.

Asura for PvP.

Hard to see animations = more difficult for enemies to dodge attacks.

I have to second this. While my Norn warrior is my main (and overall most fun) character, those elites are snooze-worthy. Especially compared to Charr.

Haven’t unlocked my racial elites / who cares about that skills. Gotta spam rage signet anyway.

IMO – None of the available racials would replace my banner. I wouldn’t recommend rolling based on racial abilities.

I have a norn rifle warrior and I love him to pieces <3

I like my Asuran; Pain Inverter fills a nice gap in WvW, while the baseline warrior skills cover PvE.

Anet did state in development that racial skills would never really be as powerful as profession specific ones so as not to make race choice biased or making people feel like they have to play a certain race to be effective as that profession. The issue with Asuran animations is likely the only thing to give you some advantage but I suspect Anet will address this soon as many people see it as a big problem.

To give an example of a racial to compare with a profession skill, Charr have a utility which is a shout (can’t remember the name), but it is essentially a weaker version of FGJ on a longer cooldown. So besides maybe some situational use on the elites, you will generally find in the meta game that racials play little to no part whatsoever.

Just go with whatever you like the best aesthetically. Racial skills are mostly kitten.

I went charr on my sniper because the charzooka aoe really completes the build for wvw, the barrage does insane damage.

but my warrior is a charr cause they look amazing in heavy armor, then i have a female sylvari guardian cause the heavy armor is actually the most revealing of all the armor sets for women o.O yeah shun me or w/e, i like my female toons to be revealing! lol

Lore wise, it would be Norn no doubt, but as far as gameplay go, just choose what you like most, makes no diff.

I actually think the Sylvari Racials are pretty rocking, ESPECIALLY for a rifle warrior.

You get a decent heal with a small AoE regen. It normally gets 1 shotted by a sneeze, but that’s one hit you didn’t take. You get a RANGED IMMOBILIZE, which is amazing if you wanna go full sniper, and the Druid Spirit elite skill throws out more AoE Immobilizes, as well as some pretty respectable damage. Alternatively, you can summon a ton of Flower Turrets to aid in your ranged onslaught.

Human warrior, Charr Engineer, Norn Ranger & Asura Necromancer

Just made an Asura warrior. Her favorite weapon so far? RIFLE!!

It all depends on what aspect of the game you prefer.

PvE, it won’t matter. The Asuran utility ‘radiation field’ can be nice due to AoE weakness, but that’s about it in my opinion and I wouldn’t find a slot for that on my bar anyway.

PvP, Asura. As Defektive said, animations are smaller and harder to dodge.

Personally I’m a norn because I just like the race, I play the smallest norn possible but if I ever go into sPvP I’ll be making an asura (if I can get used to the camera, all my alts are norn because I’m used to that high cam).

Char warrior brring’s nothing great in WvW, just telling you now.
Charzooka is OK, but don’t be fooled when you are told it does better than the rifle in single target or longbow in aoe.

Warriors or most classes in general don’t really rely on racial skills to do what they do.

In terms of style? Probably Human or Charr.

Battle roar does have some uses IMO. Not a lot, but suppose you wanted to put a bit more fury and might on your allies or something and had a spare slot besides FGJ.

Human = Speed, Agile, Dual Sword, Sword/Shield kind of type
Norn = Smash2, Tank2, Slap2, Hammer/GS or maybe Warhorn kind of type
Char = Shoot2, support, Banner kind of type

If you like to solo roam, then Norn racial elite skill snow leopard gives you 2x stealth. It will save your life many times, and a side treat: stealing those chests without a fight.

If you want to play a condition based character: Make an Asura.

Asura if you dont mind the way they look. As a snipery Warrior one big thing youve got is your kill shot, and its easy to see its animation. Its a lot harder to see at a distance on an Asura.

If PvP isnt a big deal for you, Id go with whatever looks cooler.

I’m making a warrior to replace my ranger. What race will make the slickest looking ranged sniper style warrior? Heavy armor is bulky so I’m guessing female is best.
