I feel like the Warrior could use a fair bit of tweaking still to really make it feel fun, and I know that many of you feel the same way.
So, since the devs like to read these forums often, let’s make a compilation thread of the ways we feel warrior needs to be altered to make it really fun, and see if they agree at all.

I’ll start.

- take out the wep swap timer reduction trait
- give us a 5 second natural swap time
- give axes atleast a LITTLE mobility that isn’t adrenalin based (barley moves you anyways)
- tone down derm hunder blards
- boost base 2h sword dmg by enough to turn that HB dmg into dps instead of burst
- remove signets and give our traits base stat buffs similar to what signets give (based on the trait ofcourse) OR reduce non signet trait CD’s (first choice preferable for interesting class diversity reasons)
- remove juggernaut and add something like Berserkers Blade:

+berserkers blade would be an elite that would cause your sword to become larger, and have a blood red coloring to it.
+berserkers blade would alter all of your current ability set

Berserkers Blade could either give all your abilities big condition damage additions for 60 seconds, or increase their damage, or give each ability an alternate function that’s added to it’s current one.
These alternate functions would be something like.. #4 on the great sword would now drag enemies TO you if hit by the return throw, and the #2 on the regular sword would knock enemies you land on down when you make contact with them.

Keep in mind, these are just my opinions, no need to argue them or discuss them. Simply post your own. :>

Warrior, supposedly being the “weapon master” of the classes doesn’t have any unique weapons. All of the classes have their niche so it I think it makes sense for us to have a unique weapon type or two.

I feel as though we should have 1 or 2 unique weapons only for a warrior. Maybe a two handed axe and some sort of 1 handed weapon, a spear that we can use out of water quickly comes to mind.

It just seems odd to me that we’re supposed to be weapon masters, yet, there is no unique weapon that only a warrior can “master”.

I’m 100% certain that Anet will have to eventually add new weapon types to the game for all classes in future expansions. But it would be nice to get a new type of weapon that is specifically for warriors.

I don’t think it would cause a problem with loot distribution because as it is now all classes can use all equipment and weapon types so nothing would change as far as the other classes are concerned.

Make the Longbow’s autoattack not be awful. Extra damage, a bleed, a short burn, whatever. It’s completely worthless except for proccing combos and (slowly) building adrenaline.

Without beeing lvl 80 on my warrior yet and not doing pvp, i’m only able to comment on one thing properly… that would be our downed skills, they are the poorest bunch i have ever seen. I play: Thief, guardian, necro, engi, warrior and warrior seems to be horrible compared to the rest of those professions abilities.

I would like to say that when reaching lvl 20 using signets and signet trait, reaching 107% critchance without using precision gems/gear, seems very unbalanced…
Since i don’t know how usefull/useless it is in lvl 80, i’d like to suggest a downscale based on players lvl

- Increase default longbow range to 1200. Current range trait for longbow would become 20% quicker recharge.

- Addition of elite shout skill. My personal preference would be a shout roughly based on the elite shout from Guild Wars 1: “Victory Is Mine”. Shout grants regeneration, quickness and vigor to nearby allies, with duration being longer for each condition on your target foe.

- Ability to wield banners offhand, with banner abilities being on their own toolbar similar to pet skills. Banners should have shorter cooldowns and Warriors should have the option to make the banner appear in your hand instead of on the ground.

- Faster animations for mace and hammer (this would also effect Guardian).

A new, shout-based elite skill, so that we have something besides signet of rage. This is the one addition/change i’m hoping for the most.

I’d also like the hammer animations to be sped up a bit, especially the #5 knockdown skill. Otherwise, make that skill do AOE knockdown also (all the other hammer skills are aoe, why not this one?)

Call me when this game gets fixed…. if it ever does….

@Recently: try maining crit/ run and gun (not the beef build one, you don’t need kill shot since ur actually the one coming to them) rifle build that relly MUCH on kill shot and you will realize the cast time and maximum range is not worth it.

Shield
-Change shield trait so it will give glance buff when the damage reach xxxx with certain cd. That should convince someone to use shield as their main offhand (not just for 30cd block then switch back, sad shield is sad).

Move the ‘break movement impairing effects with movement skills’ trait out of Tactics and into Defense.

Add a utility that stops spell casting on a 25 sec cd, preferably as a shout. (Alot of good builds lack a way to stop spell casting unless you have a mace or a shield.)

- Grant Warrior’s a third weapon slot.

- Add in a way to return Banners to the Warrior at range.

- Tweak Battlestandard. 4 minutes cooldown is too long for what it does currently.

- Take Rampage back to the drawing board. Nobody uses it currently.

- Buff longbow auto-attack to reach the target faster. It’s far too difficult to actually hit someone at max range with it. Players can easily strafe out of it’s way.

Well, I agree on toning down HB damage tho. Its getting rather annoying in WvW to play any squishy class and being forced to dodge whenever a warrior with greatsword appears.

Actually, a warrior with a hammer and a greatsword can pretty much:
1. Stun the target,
2. Jump to target
3. Pretty much kill the target before stun wears out.
4. Even if the target manages to escape, there are plenty of skills which can close the distance very quickly.
So yeah, that doesn’t sound OP at all.

-Give more weapons more chains beyond the autoattack. Make them require genuine situational decisionmaking through cast times, cooldowns, and extra effects. It’s a way to make Warriors actual “masters of weapons” without having to introduce a third weapon set. It’s all about how you use it.

-Either make Damage a more meaningful role in high-end content, or replace every single one of our “hey you do more damage” traits with something that provides utility and/or changes our gameplay. 10% more crit damage with axes sounds fun, but it doesn’t mean anything in any situation that matters, except that I’m probably rolling a glass cannon that’ll be virtually useless in those very situations.

-Balance the weapon specializations. Greatsword’s is amazing due to both its effects and its positioning in the trait trees. If it’s balanced as-is, then let us get its effects, in the same position (20 Arms,) for any weapon we want.

-Give us virtually anything else besides 3% Burst Damage as our second passive boost in Discipline.

-Give shapeshifting another pass. Signet of Rage is ridiculously good compared to any shapeshifting due to both its low cooldown and the fact that it doesn’t take our weapon skills away from us. Warbanner’s utility is obvious. Not all of the shapeshifting in the game is equally bad, but it all falls short when compared to the alternatives available.

-If we’re expected to be able to “go ranged” during difficult content, then significantly adjust the class’s weapon selections, traits, and skills towards ranged play. That would mean, among other things, making shouts/banners/warhorns have a significantly larger radius because it’s expected that people are going to be spread out all over the place constantly.

-Give us traits that involve augmenting and altering the combos that we create via finishers. If group play (in hard content) and solo play are going to be so radically different baseline, at least fully commit to it and give us, say, two really cool Solo trait lines, and then 3 really cool Group trait lines, with “finishers” being a thematic focus of one of them.

-Make adrenaline matter more, and/or make burst skills more universally awesome. Right now spending adrenaline is a boring no-brainer that’s simply based on whether or not the burst skill in question is any good. Managing adrenaline, even when traited for all sorts of extra bells and whistles, isn’t interesting or challenging in the slightest.

I think we’re encouraged more to not spend our adrenaline. Lets all be honest, all our burst skills mostly suck. Interestingly enough the most useful burst skill we have is on spears in water, the aoe interupt.

And then there is the fact that several traits give very nice benefits for having full adrenaline; more healing, more crit, more damage, etc.

Adrenaline burst skills needs a major overhaul imo.

I would like anet to look into the compariosn between Guardian and Warrior a bit more. To me, the guardian is just miles ahead in defense and utility, while he still is really good in offense. I have both classes, and the warrior pretty much only shines in spiking… which is pretty much bs in PvE.

Regarding more concrete ideas:
- Longbow 1200 range. Our only AOE weapon on range. WvW without a 1200 Aoe suck, since atm its pretty much only zergs (no matter if you want it or not).
- GS rework: Aside from HB, this weapon is pretty much bullcrap.
- Riddance of selfroots: Disregarding HB, there are still a number of selfroots on the warrior, that make the class unneccesary clunky: Hammer 3,4, Mace 5, Sword Burst (to a lesser extent), Rifle burst (same), Sword 2 (same, this leap for some reason is slower than other classes’ clones— see prejump delay).
- Improve Underwater: Applies to all classes. Underwater just sucks. For the warrior, I would like the spear to finally get AOE-Swings of a proper melee weapon. Harpoongun 3 needs a bugfix (misses quite often when it clearly hits). Spear could get more than just “hit” skills (vuln, self might, etc).
- Battle Standard: From a Uptime to cooldown ratio, the Elitebanner is worse than the Utility shout “for great justice” (might 3-4stacks 25% of one cooldown VS 3 might 100% of the time, Fury 25% to a little less than 33%). Plus, the swiftness is just redundant and feels like a last day fix. I see how 30sek stability is op in pvp, but swiftness is just redundant with the bundle skill. Change it to vigot, or protection or something.

Srsly are u living under a rock with your high tech pc?? i bet the only warrior u know are the one that wield Greatsword + Axe which cover 80% of the population. Ever see warrior wearing rifle? hammer? longbow? even mace? hell you rarely saw them since most of them are considered rare breed among the mainstream.

As with many others I think an Elite skill Shout is a definite must.

I would also like to see MH Sword #2 and #3 merged into a crippling-leap skill. Then an additional skill should be added in slot #3 to inflict vulnerability, weakness or similar.

There is currently no reason to use anything other than #1 while waiting for your adrenaline to stack while in melee range.

Warriors are not in an altogether awful place, but even beyond the polishing of bugs, could use a little in the way of flavouring, or fun.

- Mentioned already, how unexciting and how ineffective Rampage is. Also, the set of elites in general. None of them super exciting, and while I love me some Warbanner and love how it can completely turn the tide, it really encourages you to sit on the cooldown. A largely unused elite is pretty close to not having one at all. On the subject of banners, and while I haven’t experienced many banner thieves, how about making them carried on the warrior’s back, like a standard, and used again to be dropped and picked up as it currently is on live?

- In the same vein, some utilities that serve no purpose other than fodder. This may be from being just bad, but I see no true use to Berserker Stance or Banner of Tactics – anything they can do, other utilities can do better, or they’re just simply superfluous. The majority of the others are highly situational, and that’s perfectly fine, that’s up to us to figure when we’ll need them and promotes thoughtful play.

- Downed abilities. Super unexciting, and I really hate to be comparing professions since it’s apples to oranges, but it’s just a feel-bad moment when you see or play another one that does exciting things on down. Throwing anything but a rock is that much more exciting – how about throwing mud in their eye for a short blind? Pulling out a pistol or shortbow that was hidden and just doing mediocre damage from the ground would be more exciting. Throwing a hammer essentially lets you select who your executioner will be, in the majority of cases. Vengeance is a finicky mistress, but that’s why we keep going back to her, but I still can’t help but feel it’s lacking, especially in PvP.

- Making Adrenaline skills more exciting, though I’m not quite sure how yet. There’s not much incentive to be spending adrenaline all that frequently decreasing the value of the entire Discipline tree and its associated traits, except maybe Heightened Focus. Maybe adrenaline doing a weaker attack but then changing to a different set of attacks with the current weapon for a short amount of time?

I would personally like to see more cohesiveness in the existing weapon set attacks that our longbow has, but I would be very happy with just making warriors more exciting with a few of these changes.

Why only ONE burst skill for warriors? We could have 2, 3 or even 4, Guardian has 3 virtues, hell, Elementalists get a lot more skills just by changing attunements (and even if they don’t have more weapon sets, they get more skills)

I think it’s fair. Maybe another burst skill for another purpose.

F2 would be a defensive Burst skill and F3 would be mobility or something Burst skill.

Also, put Hundred Blades as burst, as well, make it channelable while walking (even if you have to reduce it’s effectiveness or walking speed for the duration) and if you want, tone down the damage by maybe 5% or 10% because of this. I wouldn’t mind.

Well, warrior shouldn’t have any “Dodge or die” skills. Those skills should be reserved for bossmobs. Not for a playable profession.
And since you only get 3 utility skills, if you don’t have a weap with stun removal, you got to waste an utility skill for something that only is effective in few scenarios. Like having a RTL group take Maelstorm just because they might run into an eleball or something.

Rifle burst should be half the cast time it is now or usable while moving.
Juggernaut needs to be scrapped completely

If you consider including a stun break in your PvP utility set as a “waste”, then I don’t know what to say. If I happen upon someone who doesn’t have a stun break, they have a sea of troubles far more vast than a simple hundred blades combo.

CC’s always a key part of PvP. If you forfeit your ability to break the stun, you forfeit your ability to complain when stuns lead to your death.

100B could probably use a re-design for reasons other than its damage output. The problem I have with complaints is that people default to asking for it to be changed instead of doing something about it themselves.

Buff the base damage of Hammer or give it a largish crit multiplier in the hammer trait and make the root and aoe knockback abilities usable while moving.
It feels silly that you can break the ground around something when hitting it but do kitten damage to the actual mob.

I agree with previous posters on the following: an elite shout, banners unable to be taken by players (outside the party maybe? I trust my party members with my flags…not entirely the case with randoms).

Personally, I want to see better longbow traits, or at least faster longbow attack speed. Out of all classes with a bow, I feel the warrior deals the least damage with it and attacks the slowest. The first skill with the longbow may shoot 2 arrows but even when specced as a glass cannon, they don’t do nearly as much damage as the rest of the weapons available to the warrior, especially because the attacks are so slow. some of the other skills seem to have pretty long recharge times as well, and there’s no traits to lessen the CD time. A 5% damage increase against burning foes, when the 2 skills I have available to cause burning are recharging most of the time, doesn’t seem like enough compensation. The longer range trait for longbow warriors also feels a little kittened, as arrows STILL drop off after a few meters, whereas ranger and thieves have similar or even longer range and can retain much higher mobility and damage output. I played longbow warrior all the way to level 80, and have stuck with it in most end-game content, but outside of playing a support banner warrior, I really don’t have many options with the longbow. I may be mistaken, but I was under the impression that this wouldn’t be the case in GW2. :/

Here’s what I would do:

1. Reduce Hundred Blades damage by 50% (4 swings instead of 8 ), allow the warrior to move while channeling.
2. Remove Rush and put Whirlwind Attack in the 5 slot. (we dont need 2 charges IMO)
3. add another attack ability (18 sec cooldown) in the 3 slot, (Furious Slice) deals moderate damage and gives Fury for 10 sec.
4. Rename Arcing Slice to (Overpowering Strike) have it deal heavy damage and stun the target for .5 sec for each level of adrenaline .
5. Remove Juggernaut, add an Elite Shout that deals AOE damage within 600 units , on a 60 sec cooldown and adds daze for 3 seconds.
6. Allow all hammer abilities to be used while moving, I detest/loathe/hate self rooting skills and was the main factor why I refused to try Tera.
7. Arcing Arrow to actually cause Burning.
8. Change Fan of Fire to a single target 3 burning arrows, same damage as now.

Several people have said they want a HB rework, not just a buff to other stuff. Usually people are asking for buffs to mediocre abilities like banners. Right now people are mostly GS warriors not just because HB is such good burst, but also because most other things are fairly mediocre by comparison, not just to HB, but also to the burst of some of the other classes. If they brought burst down all around I’d completely be fine with that, but right now most of our abilities are like bringing a knife to a gunfight.

I wonder what is it about hundred blades that makes people Q_Q so much over it. Honestly, only way I can see this as a reason to be posted is that you are a complete n00b who doesn’t know how to play his class or you simply don’t play a warrior. Or maybe both? Anyways my list is simple.

-Fix the bugs related to vengeance.
-Increase the AoE of banners.
-Make bolas miss less often…

That’s all, the rest is perfectly balanced imo. Once you leave the big sword aside and start learning the game you will notice that the big sword doesn’t need a nerf it needs a buff. Also game only needs a massive nerf on Guardians and a small nerf on the mesmer’s survivability to be perfect.

Considering all the other weapon lines are basically fine and only require minor tweaks, I’d go ahead and say that the only “balance” issue here is with 100b and I personally think it will be reduced in effectiveness in the not too distant future.

I’d personally rework Arching Slash, into an AoE DD attack, no longer giving fury, and make 100b an Adrenaline skill, with damage that scales based on adrenaline levels.

Full Adrenaline, damage is about what it is now.

I’d also rework the Hammer animations to remove the delays and/or pauses during animations so combat has more fluidity.

If you actually look at the Hammer Shock and Staggering Blow animations, using them while moving would make no sense, unless Gumby physics are allowed. In fact, I’d wager that they intentionally added roots to the animations because of what the skills provide. AoE Knockback, Conal Cripple. You sacrifice a second of movement to potentially CC multiple people.

If you try to use them while chasing someone and get irritated that they run away while you’re rooted, I don’t know what to tell you. There’s a time and a place for everything, and it shouldn’t be “everywhere, all the time” like people seem to want.

Also, I really don’t get the fuss about 1000000B. I truly don’t anymore. I used to kind of understand, but then arguments against it kept getting worse and worse. Someone blows 2 of their 3 utilities and focuses all of their build into this one counterable combo, makes themselves fairly useless and squishy for the rest of the fight, and for some reason this needs a nerf? I feel like I could teach a 10 year old to consistently evade a 100B combo. It isn’t a 4-gate, it’s a glass-cannon risk built to down someone in a fight, and if it fails, things suddenly favor the opposing team.

Odds are they’ll redesign 100B somehow, but if it turns into the Adrenaline ability, I’ll never use it (which will be a few times less than I currently use it in PvP as a GS/Hammer warrior, anyway).

- Increase default longbow range to 1200 and replace “Stronger Bowstrings” with “Marksman” longbow skills recharge 20% quicker and greatly increases projectile speed. Move to T2 with in the tactics tree.

The longbow really lacks burst damage potential so I agree with this.

Arcing Slice – needs to be scraped it’s currently worst burst skill out there.

Rampage – needs to be scraped it’s currently the worst elite for warrior.

Need more abilities with stability, protection, or retaliation; leave aegis to be guardian specific. A reliable form of casting Protection would allow players who want to play defensively to do so and a reliable from of retaliation would punish heart seeker spamming thieves.

The Discipline points that increase burst damage by 3% should be changed to reduce burst cooldown by 1% per point totaling 30% with 30 points invested. 7 seconds to burst is fine since you have to rebuild adrenaline and coupled with the t3 trait “Quick Bursts” which reduces the cooldown by 20% you could reduce burst skill recharge to 5 seconds by heavily investing into the discipline tree which is a fair trade off.

Fix the trait “Fast Hands” ASAP it makes the class nearly unplayable this should be top priority and it’s unacceptable that it’s been broken this long.

Hundred Blades is fine but frenzy is not; I recommend removing frenzy from both thieves and warriors as it just leads to cheese and a balancing nightmare.

(afterthought: remove frenzy utility from both theif and warrior but replace fury on arcing slice with a 2/3/4 second frenzy depending on adrenaline level and a 1 second stun or daze if it hits; this would still allow for the frenzy hundred blades combo to exist but in a much more skilled fashion while being well telegraphed at the same time.)

Reviver’s Might minor trait is very lackluster for being T3 due to that fact that it won’t be activating as often as the other T3 minors and 1 stack of might is very negligible.

Shield Master trait should reduce recharge rate by 45 or 50% instead of 20% for better survivability.

Add extra skill (means u able to replace some skill just like in utility slot)

Marksman mod
Cooldown: 8 second
Casting time: 1 second
Effect:
Increase all ranged skill by 300, burst skill by 500, change “bleeding shot” to “marksman shot” which does more damage when the user hold the firing button (like catapult/treb system), increase all non ranged auto-attack skill damage, increase cast time for all ranged skill, reduce ranged damage at close range.

This will bring fresh air to us glass canon rifle build
