I’ve been wanting to roll a heavy armor alt for a while, but I can never decide between guard and warrior. I’ve tried so many times to stick with guardian, but the combat feels slow and clunky to me and boring. However, I am constantly told that a warrior of equal skill to a guardian opponent will never win. What exactly is wrong with warriors, and is it viable to roll one, for WvW specifically?

Warriors have low sustain, we can tank a decent burst, we can deal an awesome burst but in a prolonged fight we run out of ways to heal and die. That being said, in WvW there are a few warrior builds that are still pretty kitten good and can hold their own against a Guardian. The only problem in killing him before his friends arrive.

I TOTALLY agree here. In most wvw fights and some sPvP fights, I can’t burst down the guard but he doesn’t deal much damage to me either so it’s relatively equal. But the battle lasts like 2 minutes…and his friends come. Then. I die ._. but…in PvE warriors have the highest raw damage, so if you want to see high numbers go ahead and try warriors. If you have the right build, or are bursty enough, you’ll be fine

I wish I had that gif, but I don’t. But I mean the gif where the guys says “EVERYTHING” really angrily/passionately.

Like most classes warriors have a few viable / strong builds. Personally I don’t see the ‘sustain’ issue everyone seems to be crying about. I use this build and have had 0 problems in attrition engagements, fighting conditions builds, power builds, or against bunker builds:

Granted this build is one that works for how I want to play / contribute in wvw and pve. Damage is pretty spectacular since with GS attacks and OOM my targets almost always have vulnerability on them, in addition to always having might and high fury uptimes.

What’s with Warriors? Everything else.

The problems with the class don’t come from the class itself mostly but from the other classes which aren’t as well designed. It might seem strange to say that but it’s true.

Still, there’s a few things they can do nicely in PvP for now.

That’s why they should be ashamed when we curb stomp them.

I had some Warrior yesterday from YB (no surprise there) with a Twighlight & fancy skin rifle chasing and beating on my Ranger for like 4 solid minutes but still couldn’t down me. And I wasn’t even in my Dungeon Gear … I was still wearing my MagicFind Gear and only had HealingSpring (not Unguent) & no condition removal traits set either.

If they can pop rampage or w/e it is now, and actually down me in my full Regen Tanking setup, then I’ll be impressed but until I see that, all I have is pity for PvP wars. (especially ones with really expensive skins but no friends).

Rangers have had it tough at times, good that you keep your chin up.
Hopefully us Warriors will be a worthy challenge to you Rangers one day, until then we will shine your shoes and feed your pets.

Lol bads gonna bad. It’s one thing if your build has hard counters to it, but don’t say ALL warriors are like that, because they’re not. Bunker regen rangers may take some time, but I’ve not seen one yet overcome my warrior or any of the warriors I do know that are decent. Don’t throw all warriors / warrior builds under the bus because you can’t hang.

Play WvW. It is a way more popular game mode than PvP anyway. In WvW, hammer warriors are one of the most desired classes for zerg fighting.

Lol is this post real? Regen Rangers will only kill you if you let them especially in WvW. There aren’t many classes that can out dps the full on healing regen ranger but that many classes can just walk away from a regen ranger.
