I’m pretty new to this game and have a level 20 warrior.
I’ve been noticing that I struggle to take on more than 2 of anything the same level as me.

Yesterday I was in Kessex Hills in that fishing village where the kraits attack alot. I got taken down by 2 kraits (I believe they were also level 20ish). Then a level 20 ranger came in (without a pet mind you) and took down 4 kraits just swinging around great sword.

I haven’t really been prioritizing any particular stat. I just wear whatever armor has the highest level requirement. I figured, at level 20 I really don’t need to be too picky about my armor since I’m going to out level it in a few hours anyway. I’ve been putting all of my trait points into strength and I’m using a dual axe, rifle combination.

Anyway I was kind of surprised because a ranger with medium armor was able to tank 4 when I with my heavy armor couldn’t even handle 2. I was amazed because he just stood there taking blows from 4 of them and they barely made a dent in his hp. He didn’t really seem to be doing anything other than just standing there and swinging his sword and taking the hits.
Is my armor that crappy?
Or should I be putting points into defense?
Or maybe I just don’t know what I’m doing?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I had the same problems, try getting more toughness on traits, that helped my warrior’s quality of live, also run around with a shield+1handed for oh ’’s**t" situations, as a warrior you will get lots of hits, and about that ranger, he might had lot of defensive traits, because they got alrdy a lot of dmg by themselves,
well thats what worked for my gl!

I only died like 2-3 times in PvE up the mid-60s or so.
I was dual axes using all signets, with the trait that makes unused signets give +40 precision. It’s very nice for PvE (except dungeons), not so much for other things. I also updated my armor/weapons every 10 levels (levels just went by too fast to do it sooner) emphasizing power/precision. Really at your level you shouldn’t be dying that much. But I should also mention levels make a huge difference, if you are level 20 and those kraits are 20ish as in 25-26 or higher they are going to roll you.

What traits/stats are you aiming on? As you have for sure noticed the warrior don’t have many survivabillity skills such as much other classes. Those that helps us survive are mostly Endure the Pain and our Heal, other skills can help you survive such as the utilities: Stomp, Fear Me for example.

When i were lvling i was only aiming to spend points in the defence line to become more sturdy, and the gear i got on my way to 80 i mostly equipped things that had any power on to stack up damage mean while traits did my survival.

Many people i play with are almost shocked how fast a warrior can die compared to any other class out there, main reason to it is: Lack of toughness and vitality/go full glasscanon build/(mentioned above, lack survival skills).

Altho dying from two kraits sounds a bit squishy, if you were using greatsword or axes – endure the pain and frenzy would do the thing to kill atleast those two and more with quick skill combinations.

To mind you, sometimes an elementalist can survive longer then a warrior due to the survivabillity skills. Heavy armour gives us only more armour tbh, still if you sitting on 26k hp and taking +3k hits from bosses in dungeons you tic down faster then most of the classes (mainly since you go melee often [atleast in my case]) those 26k are gone in no time, you can evade two hits by dodge but after that you have to be the meat shield or figure out another way to survive.

Atm i’m lvl 80, and i know a warrior in full defence spec is hard as a mountain with decent gear. Also if you go full damage build you are squishy like an egg, i’ve got full dps traits atm and full dps on armour and then survival/dmg on my sword and toughness/vitality jewells which helps quite a lot i’ve noticed.

At the very moment the suggestions i can give you are following.

1. Get some toughness gear going
2. Get some survival utilites
3. Spend points in defence (with power gear you cover up most of the points you dont spend in power line)

Hope this was any helpfull, clearing my point of view of the warrior.

Cool. Thanks very much for the suggestions so far.
I guess I was expecting warrior to be tougher than other classes (except for maybe guardian) simply because of the heavy armor. So I tended to focus more on improving my damage output so I can kill faster.
But it sounds like we really don’t have that kind of advantage unless we also spec for toughness and choose survival utilities. That’s kind of a bummer.
If armor doesn’t really matter that much except for the type of stat boost, then I can see where going with a medium armor class with higher damage output would be better.

There is no such thing as a Ranger without a pet; the instant you enter combat, it is summoned.
