This is my first and only 80. Should I start trying to farm in Orr with Magic Find gear for gold? I’ve never done WvW or PvP. I want to have Twilight. I have 5 gold. Suggestions appreciated.

if you want a twilight, i’d suggest you to create either a warrior or a mesmer, and start farming cof, that would probably be the fastest way..

Without a doubt, go for World Completion. That should be your first step along the road to getting Twilight – You need 100% completion for the Gift of Exploration. The Karma and money you make through completion, (about 30-40 gold?) is good. As you run around, gather every node you pass. Keep the T6 materials and sell the rest. You’ll accumulate Experience, Karma and Skill Points. All are necessary. (Do your Daily and Monthly as you go for the Mystic Coins.)

Thankfully, it’s not boring like farming CoF all the time, you’ll see the whole of Tyria and completing each map gives you a sense of achievement and of progress. Mix it up by popping into WvWvW for the Badges of Honor and to get the World Completion points in there. ( It is a pain trying to get all the POI’s and Vistas in WvWvW, so do it as you progress and hopefully, come the end, you’ll only have a few left to get for 100%.)

Lastly, be methodical! Start at the low-level maps and don’t leave it until you complete it, (unless you have to detour to complete your Daily.) Complete, move to next map, complete, move to next map, etc. This is how I did it and I loved every minute!

30 – 40 Gold? From world completion? Did the gold from doing so got massively buff? “I completed the world 3 days after official release and I didn’t make pass 12 golds from it…”

Anyways my suggestions would be complete the world as suggested above, but rather than starting with the low maps, start with maps that have dragons or chest events on them. This will allow you to get the daily chest so you can obtain rares/maybe exotics or precursors. “Very low chance though”. I recommend you run citadel of flames at least once a day path one and 2 save the tokens and gold, use the tokens to gear yourself for speed runs and then move on to craft great swords for the mystic toilet. After that go deal with maps, do all the events and what not.

If you get bored go WvW, you get lots of karma there, some coin and badges which you need for the gift of battle with low chance of random rares along the way. Once you establish a pattern, world competition should get you close or pass the 200 skill points you need. And strongly in your way with karma and gold.

Once this is done you should save all materials you find, specially ores, as you will need to master I believe it was armor smith and weapon smith O_o, not really sure here sorry, both need metals and you need 250 of most metal ignores for gift of metal so metal is your friend gather them as you go and this will save you time later. Other than that, once you complete the world and all that make a routine of CoF > Orr farming > WvW + dragons when you can and the game will stay fresh for you. Doing fractals lvl 10 is a good way to earn fractal levels and other rewards that even if not attached to your legendary can help you get some acended gear, such as the back piece and rings. Even if you are better using laurels + WvW badges for that.

If we are being serous here. World completion is going to be pain due to needing WvW POIs, views, etc. If your server isn’t dominating or get switched often in EB its going to take you a while. Track probably gave you the best advice because is the easiest and most direct path to getting what you want. Farm CoF 1 with 2 tossed in for a month or two. If you go on a serious no bs farm you might have the cash to buy it off broker.

That being said do your world completion. I made the mistake of not getting it done months ago. Took me nearly 2 months in T1 WvW to get the completion. Honest truth is get the points done while you can, but your CoF farm is going to be your cash cow.

The 30 to 40 gold wasn’t just from World Completion rewards – my apologies, I should have made it clear that was in total – from rewards, looted coin, Hearts, selling the crafting materials, etc. I’ve done World Completion twice now and both times earned roughly this amount. I never ran past an event, mob or node without doing it, killing it or mining it.

In general, I think World Completion should be your main focus, (your “umbrella” goal,) but there’s nothing stopping you from mixing it up with WvWvW, Fractal runs and, as Lyonell has also said, CoF runs, Dragon events, et al. There’s plenty to do, just don’t lose focus on your overall goal and get “stuck” doing the same thing as it’s easy to get worn-out with the game that way. In my opinion.

Keep the Twilight legendary weapon in the back of your mind and do everything else with the game instead. It is a long road unless you shortcut and drop real $$$s for gems->to->gold for an in-game item.

I’ve never actually equipped a legendary but that is because I would rather level several characters to 80 and enjoy the game from a different perspective than straight farm for weeks/months on end.

I have everything ready, just need the Precursor (like I have been hoping for a drop of one type or another for the past 3-4 months or for the mystic forge to hand one over). I am not lucky like most who have one are. FYI, after having all the various components for a legendary and no precursor, I have like 1.6M karma leftover on my Warrior. I do not know how much karma I have on all my other characters altogether but I would guess in the 2.5M to 2.8M range.

That should give you an idea.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I also have 100+ karma jugs sitting in my bank.

OP will quit the game before he can make a twilight is my guess. Unless he or she learns to enjoy the game by finding out on his/her own what there can be done at lvl 80, and enjoy the content first before even worrying about a 1200g+ item.

What i find most important in farming in general is variability. You won’t last very long if you do the same thing everyday.

Farming CoF is better than Skelk farming for mats in Southsun?
