Which build for warrior (Pve-WvW)
Unfortunately there isn’t just one build. You have to either sacrifice DPS or toughness/survivability. Personally, I went from a condition build to DPS and provided you equip the right armor and weapons you can somewhat balance out your lack of toughness. A lot of times players will re-trait before entering a dungeon or fractals simply from experience. All that being said, I suggest you go with a toughness/survivability build until you get comfortable with the dungeons and fractals. Then go for DPS.
Protein build (pve/pvp)
pve – zerker gear w/ ruby orbs, soldier back, cavalier earrings w/ exq ruby, zerker neck, soldier rings, 20/0/30/20/0. The versatility of this build is amazing, you can swap traits for many different fights. In strength you want V & IX or any of the others for particular situation like, more vitality, using axe, confusion on interrupt w/ hammer, falling damage. In defense you want turtles II, VIII, XI, these are what I mostly use and it lets you stay in the fight much longer, but again you can swap for others like, shield reflect, shield cooldown, and hammer damage, endure pain always stays. In tactics you want VI and IX…this is what I mostly use but again you have many options with tactics like longbow damage/distance, SiO auto, shout cooldown, and desp power. The key to this build and really imo being good at this game is knowing what weapons and traits to use for what fights. I put out massive damage with this and stay up in melee always.
PvP – wear soldier gear. You can go axe/shield with sword/wh for wvw, axe/shield gives you good damage a stun and the block. Sword/wh gives u mobility and escape plus some condition removal. You can also go hammer or greatsword or longbow, theres many, many ways to utilize this build. I don’t have success with the zerker gear in wvw, mostly with zergs, 1v1 yea but never 1v1 in wvw I rarely get that oppurtunity. Even with this build and soldier gear I can 1v1 even 1v2 no problem, it takes a lot to take me down.
With that I just wanna say I have all of the weapons and always keep my bag window open for quick swapping weapons like in wvw I like to constantly switch in the gs for 3 & 5 just to get across the map as fast as possible while spamming SoR and warhorn. When the gs skills go on cd I get out my main which would be hammer or axe/shield. I know the traits that are available to me with this build and swap them in and out in a quick second for what I am about to fight.
and im too tired re read this make sure it makes sense so ask questions if u have any, ill try check back
That build ^ is a solid build I’ve seen around, in variations ofc, but PLEASE don’t enter tourneys with it, getting a pug traited into a strong PvE/WvW spec basically throws the fight for their team
Anyway for PvE I use a condition heavy build cause NPCs don’t have condition removals and keeping bleeds up as a bleed warrior is easy as cake (and burning with LB is ridiculously strong). Bleed warrior is extremely powerful in PvE and can be altered in MANY different ways to add to it’s survivability. I personally added the regen banner, all the while keeping insane bleed damage.
For both PvP and WvW though bleed warriors suck, so in WvW I like the hammer/shout build. It’s pretty survivable in general and has pretty decent damage out put all along insane CC.
Finally for PvP if you’re going into paids you kinda have to go glass canon 100B spec cause no other spec compares to similar ones of other classes, the 100B one is still also only situational. In frees and random pugs its more lenient ofc, so again I hammer/stance with berserker’s amulet, you three shot people before they can even move. Sadly it’s very easy for an organized team to counter so in tourneys it’s not that great
That’s just the way I like things though, there plenty of warrior options for both PvE and WvW though (not PvP but what can ya do, we aren’t eles… EDIT: or guardians or mesmers or thieves or rangers….. :P)
