This skill lists that you gain a 50% movement speed increase while using it. I am almost certain this is false. From my testing both in combat and out, it doesn’t seem to affect movement speed at all. And it doesn’t seem to benefit properly from quickness, which seems counter intuitive since quickness is part of that weapon set, proccing off of the #4 dual strike.

I might be wrong and I’m just not noticing these effects, but I decided to post here and ask if anyone else noticed this.

Also on a slightly unrelated note, I just discovered the Wiki page for Quickness: (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Quickness) Does not list Dual Strike under “Weapon Skills that grant Quickness”, so if anyone is good at editing web pages, that needs fixing.

Axe 5 is a channeling skill with a 3.5 second cast time. You have to have enough quickness to cover the duration of the channel. If you hit with both Axes from Axe 4 you will gain 3.5 seconds of quickness. If you chain a full axe 4 and 5 together you will get a roughly 3 second channel from Axe 5. Quickness is definitely effecting it.

When we enter combat we get a 33% forward movement speed debuff. The 50% movement speed buff from axe 5 only feels like a 17% buff as a result. I can still feel the difference in movement speed in combat between normal forward movement and axe 5, it is a bit faster.

I’m not sure about the quickness (I assumed it worked, and it should). But the +50% movement speed definitely doesn’t work because I’ve tried to chase people with it and I gain zero ground with it (unless they’re crippled).

I’ll test the quickness later tonight, and I suppose we should report the +50% speed bug. It’d be really great to get that working as it would help the utility of the offhand axe by a lot.

Edit 1:
sneakytails, the channel time on Whirling Axes should be 2.33s with quickness, not 3s.

Edit 2:
Yeah, just tested it and can confirm the skill isn’t affected by quickness. I used Frenzy to test, so the full channel should have been covered.

Esquilax, you’re right on both counts and both bugs should be fixed.

Kind of outside the main topic, but I’d welcome an animation change for this skill.

It doesn’t convey the brutality theme of warrior at all and, especially on humanoidal races, looks more like ballet than a powerful warrior skill. It’s especially odd since nearly all other warrior animations reflect the theme well, it’s just Axe #5 that stands out.

As a bonus thing, either a stack of Stability or a small heal on hit when you strike enemy with more % HP than you would be welcome.

I wish this skill reflected projectiles like the Thief stolen version does.

Oh man, if it had reflect and the movement boost, say hello to the new go-to warrior offhand. It would seriously outclass the shield, which is the best we have now.

I’d also hum the melody from Jaws everything’s I used it to run someone down.
