You realize that the damage of Whirlwind is only one part of it; the mobility and total invulnerability during the spin is what makes it great?
Besides, when did you test Whirlwind lately? The latest patch buffed the damage (you’ll do damage faster, so even if you grazing past an enemy you do higher % of the total damage).

Whirlwind doesn’t make you invulnerable o.O
lv80 Necromancer, all professional skills unlocked, working on the final norn elite skills.
It functions exactly the same as a dodge roll.
So you can beat up on a boss when he charges his supa-AoE-punch-smash you just Whirlwind through him and not only deal some damage, but you both put some distance between the two of you and you avoid the attack.
Or you can use it offensively and spin through a bunch of melee mobs to reach a ranged/spellcaster in the back.

I am pretty sure you can’t kill the berserker during his initial whirl either. It is like how thief whirlwind axe used to have evade on it but the warrior one did not.
Plus there is no damage buff.

Huh? Even checked the past 3 announcements, no such notes so I’m kinda confused.
Not that I mind phantasmal berserkers so much, mostly the invul from blurred flurry and shatters when it comes to mesmers :p
Warrior is not a good class at all , bottom of the foodchain ,lack of finishers ! And as Schwahrheit said , balance is ruined atm !
To me the classes compared to warrior look like this :
Mesmer > Warrior ( the dmg with gs of a mesmer is alot bigger than the dmg of warrior greatsword , even tho thats hmm range ? yes range )
Guardian > Warrior ( Survability tells all , and guardian less dmg than a warrior doesnt even matter at all )
Elementalist > Warrior ( D/D eles melee damage is like 100b O.o , and about the range dmg … we all know what eles can do )
Necromancer>= Warrior ( kinda even fight here , proly the best will win , even tho necromancer can pop up HP like killing and fighting with 3 other guys )
Thief=Warrior ( Even fight , will win the best dodger , thiefs had alot of nerfs so they kinda balance to warriors power to take them)
So even tho Anet tries to pump up warrior to match the other classes it wont , coz the others will get traint fixes/ skill fixes and will be better anyway ! Even tho Anet stated that warriors are “kings of melee” the survability is let’s say low ! So atm try to keep your warrior only for pve , farm is good just make a mesmer/guardian/ele for pvp/wvw !
Surely many will reply and say L2P , you dont know warrior class you dont know class you dont know the game , but please do that when you reach half of my wvw/pvp kills !

I can’t seem to find it either…
But I am 110% sure I read it, and if you test it you will see that Whirlwind Attack’s damage does ramp up quicker – try spinning into a wall next to an enemy and see the pretty numbers pop up real fast.

In what play style do you mean? Spvp, yes mesmers are better. WvW, hard to tell since both have strengths and weaknesses (talking damage, not taking portal into consideration). PvE warriors perform better.
And I’m pretty certain an iZerker can be killed during their attack, at least they can be killed between them being summoned and starting their whirl.

Mesmer will always be better than warriors in WvW
Time warp golems, infinite vertical range pull and portals alone put them on the god status.
The only thing a warrior could bring that another class can’t is a 3 second range kill with a glass cannon rifle build that really only works against other glass cannons or pre-80s. We have a huge variety in how we can play in WvW but nothing that stands above all the others.

Which is why I included the “talking damage, not taking portal into consideration”-bit. Mesmrs have more utilities although I’d say the warrior group utilities (shouts and banners) stack better than mesmers so having multiple mesmers is less beneficial the more you’ve got of them compared to having multiple warriors. A good group has several different characters with various roles though
