If you are evaluating Warrior against each of the following classes right now, who gets nerfed of the two? This is designed to get classes to consider where they rank in terms of viability and which classes just suck compared to them.

Guardian v:

1) Elementalist
2) Engineer
3) Mesmer
4) Necromancer
5) Ranger
6) Thief
7) Guardian

Simple answers (put explanations underneath if you want). Which class gets the nerf between the two (Warrior or each of the 7 others)?

Err I mean a Warrior v. (see what happens when you edit for each forum).

So it would be your class vs each of the 7 other classes. If the game were designed based on pairings, which class would need nerfed to achieve balance?

This is a hard question, do you mean WvW? SPvP? Are you assuming players are of novice, intermediate, or expert skill level?

At the expert level, I generally think warriors (excluding Hambow, which I can’t speak to) come up short versus most other classes. At the novice and intermediate level, we tend to stomp everyone outside of mesmers.

During scheduled dueling within WvW, I’ve found my hardest fights are against mesmers and engineers, and occasionally against certain necros and thieves. Without food/melandru, expert necros tend to beat warriors — though if the warrior is using it, the warrior will generally win.

The people calling for the warrior to be nerfed are generally novice – intermediate players, and warriors absolutely have an advantage at that skill level. Warriors have a lot in common with fighting game characters that excel at mashing buttons (you’ll dominate your terrible friends, but get your butt handed to you by someone good).

The warrior is probably the most balanced class at the moment so it all goes down to skill.

I have always had the hardest time against mesmers who are very mobile and make good use of all their skills.
Glass thieves are pretty painful to face, especially if they get a lucky break (well-timed dodged, etc).

The only “build” I’ve faced that felt really OP’d against my warrior was a guardian with full 25 stacks of healing, with high power/armor (no crit or condition, med vitality).

As a S/S LB condi warrior:

1- Great thieves that use alot of blinds + poison are a rough encounter.
2- Condi necros that transfer my own conditions to me with scepter + fear traits.
3-Plex Condi Engis are a very hard fight.
4- Heavy shatter mesmers, staff s/t can be problematic about 50/50. If i land pin down i win.
5- Everyone else is pretty much an easier kill.

My warrior (power based) against

1. Guardian: Haven’t fought good 1vs1 guardians yet, won all the fights so far
2. Engineer: Insanely hard time killing them, long fights, mostly end on top. But have lost 1 or 2 aswel (personal mistakes)
3. Elementalists: A really good one might beat me, mostly don’t have problems at all with them
4. Mesmer: The bad ones are easy and die fast, the good ones beat me
5. Necromancer: I win most of the time, except against those tanky condi necros with +40 condi duration food. They tank berserker stance and burst you with every condi in game
6. Ranger: Free lootbag
7. Thief: Bad ones are easy, good ones beat me. Can’t even touch em.

So yea,
mesmer+thief > warrior
necor+engi = warrior
guardian+ele+ranger < warrior (ele might need to move 1 up, need to find good ones)

Mesmers seem like the top 1v1 class. A really good Mesmer is like untouchable. However as most have said they just aren’t that great in wvw zergs and are mostly veilbots.
Thief is kinda like mesmers a fight with a really good thief is pretty much only 2 outcomes you losing or the thief running away and trying to reset the fight till they win.
