Heck, I have been only playing GW2 for about a month. I am a diligent PvP’er in many MMOs and enjoy the competitive nature of it. Much prefer to play and pit my skills against another real person than a computer generated simulation. In this game, skill shines even more with the dodging; great mechanic and something that adds a whole new dimension to MMOs that will honestly raise the bar from here onward for any new one that comes out. No way I could go back to a WoW type game where you stand there and face tank or range tank.

I knew this class was the weakest in competitive PvP but yet why did I still insist on trying? I think it’s because it’s a challenge; but wow it’s really brutal. I mean, I can’t stomach it much longer when I see REALLY poor thieves, mesmers, and what not spamming 1 or 2 abilities and dropping me. I consider myself decent. I dodge and time the burst learning more about these classes; I’m by no means excellent but I can hold my own. I have the skills down pretty well. Played every possible spec; soldier shout heal cond removal, rifle burst to soften up and finish, GS/Axe/Shield, Axe/Mace x/Shield variant, cond heavy, nothing holds.

100blades is terrible; change it; lower the damage; give us a mobile swing. The amount of kiting I have to deal with is ridiculous. The lack of sustaining 2 players on you is even more ridiculous when other professions have much better escape tools of which most fire off automatically. We trait for defense to have similar automatic defense kicks but we hit like a wet noodle. We have to compensate by using some utilities that then screw you in other engagements – heck the fact that you have to use up two utilities (frenzy, and BC) just to kill something really fast so you can produce some result is so gimmicky it’s insane. Then we have one choice for balanced stance, condition removals, what’s going to give?

I actually welcomed the challenge but this might make a newcomer like me just quit. I don’t have the time to spam level with little resources a new profession. Time is my enemy in this case because my entire guild has been 80 running WvW quite a bit. I guess that’s my demise; zerg fights. The alternative is to go thief and run it because it’s just a better designed class all in all.

The only attractive point that kept me staying on warrior is the weapon choices really give me many different build options that keeps me relatively excited. But the analogy is like if I had some rocking wheels, a new paint job, a sun roof, and tinted windows it doesn’t mean crap when the car is a fiat and we’re constantly racing against players with less skill driving BMWs that beat us every time because the core of the car is just faster and better.

I agree 100% on replacing Hundred Blades with a lighter hitting, more mobile attack. I don’t need to use Utility skills on my Thief to get my backstabs off; the weapon choices do it all for me.

People scream that Thieves, Mesmers and Guardians need a nerf (rightfully so), but I honestly think all the classes need to be brought up to their level instead.

You said what i think about the warrior class in PvP. It is much harder to do the same things others professions can do and you need to stay alive to try to do that.
The biggest problem in this game is the damage/CC you take without the other profession be at your range, but that dont work in the same way for warriors.
If you could land your damage/CC without going into the enemy fields/marks we should be more stronger that we actualy are. You have a insane number of damage/CC that other professions can execute that dont require to be at your side to land the hit.
Warrior is a mess in PvP because this game (PvP) was not made for warriors.

thief is very mobile class with a high burst they should change that mechanic that if the player wants high burst then they will have less mobility because like warriors if you choose a bunker build you can’t do high damage like a zerker build but you will last longer but still not very long like a bunker guard and ele the game still need a balance and i think it will take months or years

I feel the same way, OP. I have several level 80 characters now, all fully geared, yet I still come back to my Warrior every night. I know I’m not as effective as other classes but yet I keep trying to break down that wall with my face.

My biggest issue is that even with 30 points into defense, it didnt make me feel survivable, it only made me feel SLIGHTLY less like im wearing paper mache. I’m not a zerker build either, btw. Why is our sustain so poor?

Warrior defense options are lackluster and generally involve extreme cooldowns, same with condition removal. I first started to have success with warrior in pvp when I said “screw it” and went all in with my chips on the one thing warrior is good at: raw damage. Offensive trees, traits, amulet (I do like Forge runes though for the protection boon). Then you have to change your philosophy about how to play warrior – you’ll want to be the front lines guy getting blood splatter on your face as you tear arms away from torsos… but with no defense you can’t be this kind of warrior. Play like a thief instead, try to arrive after a fight is underway, and proceed to dish out punishment for a bit – retreat when you need to, to allow cooldowns/conditions to tick away (greatsword is key for escape). Dodging is also key… Energy rune on your greatsword with the Fast Hands trait will be your main defense.

A tankier, more support oriented warrior can be a great force multiplier in WvW, and is great fun to play (I actually love banners). But it is just bad in PvP because you’re only granting bonuses or removing boons to 2 or 3 teammates generally. Additionally by going tank or support you will find that most enemies will out-regen your damage and laugh at you.

If they reduced the CD and increased duration on our defense options and gave us better health regen we might stand a chance.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”
