Why do you still play the Warrior?
Because I like heavy armor and I despise guardians.
Well in I can see people still playing their warrior in PvE since it is great there. I just switched to warrior about 2 weeks or so before this quickness nerf. I was never a fan of haste anyway even on my thief so I don’t feel that pain. It was good for giggles to use it on people that didnt know any better but for me I feel it makes you into more 1 trick kind of like blow all your signets, baslisk venom glass thief never a fan of that style either.
So I play it now cause its new and I find it fun. I feel its harder to play than my other 2 classes as in solo roaming or small group roaming which I like to do in WvW but I get enjoyment out of smashing thieves that think free kill this guy probably doesn’t know how to kill me that right there keeps me laughing most of the night when I actually hunt thieves.
So yea I really like warrior alot I feel it could use some buffs and anet said they are going to buff warrior in some shape or form. Even if they didnt I would still play it cause I enjoy its style alot. I tPvP occasionally and I know in there its not much you can really do with the amount of bunker in there. I WvW mostly so I don’t feel totally like I am playing a terrible class.

There is many reasons for me to play warrior. For starters, I am a fan of what the warrior represents in real life, a swordsman myself and a man who lives with honor even in a world as chaotic as this I see the world as a huge obstacle that I will over come even if everyone claims it to be impossible to over come.
Now, in every game I played I always been a warrior, D&D fighter, WoW prot warrior, Rift Two handed warrior, Ragnarok online Lord Knight, hell I been a warrior style class even in those garbage free mmos where you pay to win. In all of them one way or another the warrior was in a disadvantage, GW2 is no exception. Now, I said I see life as an obstacle I will over come. In GW2 I done almost every dungeon, pve is boring for me so yeah, succeeded in all of em, I been successful in SPvp and some tournaments, as I barely care about Spvp, over all because domination games are plain boring.
WvW is my main form of interest, as a warrior I am able to help the cause in the offensive, I can buff my team and I can defend the different objectives we have. 1 v 1 I can stand my ground against anyone, even classes who got a huge advantage over me, sadly warriors disappoint me the most, thus far I only fought one that was worth the fight, in a tournament actually, quite a nice duel we had ended in a draw too, as we both died about the same time when our vengeance ended lol.
Now, warriors are about the only class in the game that requires serious thinking, serious understanding and serious skills, I played em all, so I can give you faith of this, thiefs seem challenging at first, yet once you learn to stealth around you are a warrior who can escape and re engage as he likes dealing atrocious amounts of damage. Guardian? Lol so many blinds, buffs, defense and heals that if you die as one you really need to uninstall. Rangers come close to warriors, but their pet AI is so lame it becomes a challenge of it’s own lol. Elementalist, once you learn to elemental dance which for anyone who played a serious mmo is a joke you technically become invincible…so on my list goes. Now warriors got a broken main mechanic as burst doesn’t burst lol…our melee attacks forces us to be in melee, no 1200 range bullkitten, no ability to disengage, barely any abilities to engange and barely any abilities to stay on target, bull rush, frenzy 100b, that kitten was the only thing 9.9 out of 10 warriors could do oh and let me tell you, they were bad at it…
Sure warriors could use some love, wait no, warriors need no love, other classes need to stop being spoiled children, once that happens and rangers get some brain into their pets, you will see an MMO competitive like no other.
I still play it (sometimes) because it works in PVE and because the other character I got to 80 is an engineer. I tend to spend most of my time bouncing between alts though as it’s pretty boring.
…I see the world as a huge obstacle that I will over come even if everyone claims it to be impossible to over come.
It’s in the way? Where are you going?
High damage and high armor , the kit is awesome. Warrior requires a bit of practice.
I wouldn’t recommend it for people that are looking for a really fast kill, because it’s hard to get.
As a warrior, it’s mainly about play style. You need to pick matching weapons, have a good armor and a fit rune. stack might or any other major feature.
All about game style in the end.
@LameFox: I would tell ya, but I be banned off these forums….again lol!
@Ninestrings: Totally agree with yeh!
^Try to say that name while drunk
Because I like heavy armor and I despise guardians.
And there it is. Couldn’t have put it better myself.
Skye Eterna ~ Mesmer | Arya Slade ~ Charrdian | Kiera Thine ~ Ranger
Oceanic ~ [LOD] [Noob]
Cause I can leave craters and smashed bodies on the ground with my hammer.
Because I enjoy “HULK SMASH” style classes.
Not glass cannons mind you. Those are “HULK FIRE FROM AFAR AND RUN AWAY.” I like to get in on the action.
I don’t like guardians and I like the idea of being so tanky you outlast the opposition!
Tried a Guardian, didn’t like their ranged options/swinging a wand around.
Dual wielding is also neat.
A bunch of different people with different reason it seems. I have to say that I still enjoy my Warrior in PvE for Guild Wars 2 to some extent, but it makes me sad every time I go into PvP (which is where I would like to be). I think Soundchaos got it right for me :/; dived to deep to swim back up now.
- Quite tanky for how much damage I can do.
- Undisputed kings of PvE (except for soloing champions, that’s Mesmer/Guardian territory).
- Ridiculous burst damage.
- Hammer is one of the most enjoyable weapons in the game. AoE CC tied to high damage.
Any questions?
I always play Warrior classes (since 99) & the description of the class in GW2 was enough for me.
I like the playstyle of Warrior in GW2, always go for a Berserker 2Handed type in this games & here its a fun, hard to master class.
Also, being a norn, i found the Warrior the best fit into this race… somehow i don’t see a Guardian hiding behind heals & walls a true norn to me.
Warrior just needs some useless skills to be replaced/changed, our Burst skill fixed in some playstyles (GS for instance) & banners reworked to both function in PVE and sPVP.
I look cool in heavy armor. Guardian can do they same but I honestly don’t like how they are magic fighters. I generally always stick with either the Knight (tank/paladin) or the Warrior, but the Knight in this game has too many magical aspects to it.
Also, the damage. I love the amount of damage I can dish out
A guardian can hit really high effective power, but the warrior skills simply dish out more damage.
Survivability sucks, but I am primarily PvE so it is not a major issue…
Also… I was a Warrior in Gw1
Because warrior actually has a really strong place in WvW when running with a group and that’s what I does
AR → EB → DB → Maguuma
Arkham – [Ark]
I still run warrior in wvw, but I’m done with them in spvp / tpvp. Most of the abilities are so easily dodgable that a good player will hardly ever get hit.
Having no real combo fields besides fire and not being able to remove boons from bunkers I feel the warrior meta has switched to more of a support class.
Bleeds /burns were fun for a while but I wasn’t able to fight the better bunkers effectively, and there’s a few better classes at roaming imo.
Idk, just for me this frenzy nerf really took away our white dmg spike which let me kill bunkers now it’s just not worth the hassle playing the warrior unless it’s in wvw or in a dungeon.

Honestly… I very rarely do. I stopped using Warrior in SPvP and WvW, I also have two other 80’s that I use for dungeons and stuff. About all I use my Warrior for now is meta event bosses, and that’s when I’m not already using my Elementalist for that.
Yeah I agree that for the most part Warriors are still pretty decent at PvE. I still run dungeons all the time on my Warrior, but now I hardly ever go to the Mists with my Warrior. I might hop in the Mists for a couple of rounds and then leave soon after that. It just ruins my day see all the boons/evades/blinks/invulnerable states/conditions/mobility of all the “heavily played” classes in sPvP.
But yes, it is very gratifying when you kill someone that is a Elementalist/Mesmer/Guardian/Ranger/Necromancer because you know for sure you earned that kill.
Did a match today, out of 10 people six were Rangers and the other three were Mesmers (I was the only Warrior, go figure).
Because there is nothing more satisfying than curb stomping people with the lowest tier class in PvP.
It’s like picking Dan in Street Fighter and pwning face in ranked matches. THE RAGE MAIL! THE PRICELESS, PRICELESS RAGE MAIL!
(Side Note: No one has sent me rage mail in GW2 yet.)
why not play both?
and they are different, very different.
Heavy armor looks great.
I like the kick skill/rampage, and mace

That being said I like that it simple and requires solid basic game play vs other tactics (stealth, diversion, over healing, etc)

What i meant is there is no locked in or sealed fate. Whether it be 1 hour or 1600 commitment yields nothing unless what you are commited to yields some sort of gain that is more than he gain of doing something else ie opportunity cost. The time you spent getting your legendary etc is pointless unless you still enjoy the class more than other classes. If you still play this class but only do so because of the time you have already spent then you are just throwing away time.

Agree with the above, I didn’t enjoy my necro and I haven’t looked at him since.
I love my warrior because of WvW. Chain ccing people, jumping into blobs head first and walking out alive with lootbags everywhere. I love him because he can take a punch and still keeps moving forward. I love him because I can outrun a chasing zerg. I love him because the 1on1 fights are intense. I love him because he looks epic and brings utility to the group.
I love the skill ‘fear me’, just use hammer ‘3’ to tag 5 people on a cliff than fear em down. Worked multiple times already.
I love him because of his skill sets and mechanics.

Gotcha. Good logic there. I was being a tad tounge-in-cheek. It really is a combination of the time I’ve sunk into the warrior and how much I hate leveling toons; even through crafting. I guess it’s a cost benefit relationship. The intermittent frustration costs of playing the warrior have not yet been surpassed by the benefits I would gain through leveling another toon. Here is a visual aid to assist me in making my point.

I like my war, because I can tank pretty much anything(both open world and dungeons) and take down it in a reasonable amount of time.
So why do you main Warrior in Guild Wars 2?
Well in PvE and WvW warrior is still very good, so in those cases I’m fine with sticking to my warrior, also cause charr in heavy armor look amazing! lol
As for PvP I actually just don’t play my warrior anymore, at least not until Anet freaking fixes our broken kitten I’ve been playing guardian cause I can literally face roll and tank an entire team of 8 in hotjoins or just focus on staying alive in tourneys, it’s far easier. That or my necro cause if you know how to use your DS correctly necro’s are absolute beasts in many roles.

Because I’m too stubborn to play another class in PvP.
And besides, there is this charming feeling playing the underdog class and still achieving top scores etc. etc. ^^

Scores mean nothing, go to hotjoins and stand in the back then do AoE and you get insane scores. Builds, classes, and skill play very minimal roles when just trying to get player points.
But hey if thats what pricks your pickle then who am I to say anything? lol

I honestly can’t tell if you are being honest or throwing out some sarcasm. I am going with sarcasm.
This thread has convinced me to continue playing Warrior for a bit longer in hopes of a patch that will make us viable in PvP. Until that time, I guess I will just bounce around PvE.

I was trying to point out it’s fine if that’s what you’re into, no need to get your panties in a twist.
I’m just saying the warrior issues don’t really effect hotjoins and player scores literally mean absolutely nothing to the warrior issues right now.
Never said you were bad or anything… geez people are touchy :/
Because I love doing damage in PVE, and warriors are best for that.
