I found a good WvW hammer build using a sword/Whorn + Hammer
But confused about why sword?
Mobility?
So you use the hammer for stun and damage then the sword to escape/movement?
Or stun with hammer and use sword for damage? (Wouldn’t axe be better? )

New to the build and confused…

hammer is too slow and can be kited so easily , that is why you take sword/Whorn for gape filling and escaping , also Flurry > Final Thrust is beast.

Sword for mobilty, imobilize from burst, cripple in autoattack and in Savage Leap. Also if he was runing with Unsuspecting For for guaranteed hard hit from Final Thrust after stuning foe with Earthshaker.

Also it’s useful to fake-outs. Savage Leap away from your enemy and get them to chase you a bit then turn around and BOOOOOOM earthshaker

The change to Axe means you now need to land all 3 parts of the auto attack chain to get the damage. I run Unsuspecting Foe and used to use Hammer and Axe/Shield, but switched to Sword from Axe. Its so much more versatile.

Another great thing about sword is that it provides a long duration bleeding. As long as your opponent has a condition he can’t get out-of-combat reg making it easier for a warrior to disengage (eg by Sword #2), reg and re-engage while your opponent is still low.

(This is also what i like about my P/D venom thief. Spider Venom provides 50+ sec of poison when all 5 attacks hit).

I don’t see any advantage of this build over Mace + GS. You get better mobility, better stuns, and better damage.

but this build is more advantageous in the z v z and wvw frontlines since the thread starter is a hammer warrior.

the more hammer warriors your front line has or zerg has, the easier it is to pawn as long as you hit first. which is by sword leap 2, then switch to hammer – cast your instant adrenaline bar filler then stun, 3 4..

Sword is a very powerful hybrid weapon, has a fast chain, combine it with a hammer you have even more mobility with the F1. IF you can land a hammer stun then use #3 on the sword on a person with less then 50% HP it is pretty much GG.
