WvW 1hand sword build? I'm stuck with Bolt.
It depends…. how are you playing WvWvW?
Are you running with the Zerg or are you roaming?
I play WvWvW occasionally for the epic lulz.
When two groups mash, I wait until the guardians do there thing and I usually use one shout + one banner + endure pain… then I find #3 straight into the densest group of enemies and go right into HB. I’ll usually die here but get a few kills and do quite well overall.
I can never roam with a warrior after playing a shattercat mesmer…
The difference is… quite saddening.
For WvW, I usually go to JP for the laughs and attempt* to torture whoever hits me first and starts a fight.
Occasionally I will run with the guild and do takeovers, and my favorite is getting behind a big zerg and taking out a couple of guys that are lagging behind.
I forgot to add my armor/items.
I currently run all Knights Armor, Knights earrings, Ascender Berserker Frac Back, Ascended zerk ammy, Ascended zerker rings.
My thought process was the condition behind the sword auto attack was an added bonus, and the raw damage I hit with is what counts the most. Given sword’s mobility, I would get a few hits that I could not with a GS/axe/ ect. Auto attacks range from 800-3000 damage.
I strongly believe in Swords abilities for Dps lies in Power more than its condition dmg.
Depending on what you want to do for WvW (supportive/offensive/roamer) and using rifle means it would best suite you to be supportive/Dps, even though i suggest longbow since your in the tactics tree already. Conditions hurt warrior, but learning to work with them and using Signet of stamina for me, has been alot easier than relying on 30 in tactics for shouts and what not. In most cases berserkers power is more beneficial than death from above unless your tower turtling and trying to disrupt siege at gate, which you can always change when your in the tower and out of combat.
I guess this is how I would run it if I had to choose your desired requirements.
Its a rough put together, would tweak it more if i have time. I suggest longbow over rifle in WvW for many reasons, dps wise and Combo field is great, not to mention if you switch to banners, you can almost give 25 stacks of might to a group of people rather quickly and it will last a long time with 70% boon duration.
Suggested skills: Healing surge/Shake it off/For great Justice/Signet of Stamina/(up to you for elite)
Haven’t look at CoaxialMazer’s build, but his Longbow suggestion is solid.
I find LB to be far more effective for WvWvW (unless you are going Rifle primary build which is insanely fun).
LB #3 and F1 can be abused to hit so many places
Thanks for the advice. I’ll swap out rifle for a LB.
I don’t really have requirements per se, I was just hoping to have a cool looking warrior that could 1v1 in WvW. BTW, my armor is Knights and my trinkets are split into half knights half berserkers.
Im always open to suggestions on getting all new gear, the only thing I really care to keep is the Bolt in my main hand.
Sword makes for a horrible main weapon. I does, however, make for an awesome backup weapon. Sword+Warhorn is an amazing alternative weapon set, with perhaps a Greatsword or Hammer as your main weapon.
Savage Leap and the Burst are amazing for their utility.
Do you even lift, bro?
another option is to go full bleed, with rabid like this:
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8|c.1b.h16.c.1b.h9|3.1o.h17|1b.719.1b.719.1b.719.1b.719.1b.719.1b.719|2w.0.2w.0.3w.0.1b.9b.1b.9b.2w.0|0.u38b.u29b.a1.0|30.d|e
Condition damage, toughness, healing power everything.
Tank build (with a few points here and there to get bleed on crits and such).
Sword/shield (or Sword/Sword if you wanna be “balsier”) and longbow.
Enjoy.
I like sword/shield and axe/mace
Sword/Shield and Hammer

PVT armor Soldiers runes
trinkets, weapon stats, and sigils are up to you, really.

This one could be fun. Get 100% bleed duration on a Rabid based banner support warrior. Couple of shouts for group support and stun-break. Adrenal Health + Using Pie consumables increase survivability.
1550 condition damage = 120 tick minimum bleeds. Sigil of Corruption and Might boon stacks take it up from there.
100% bleed duration = nice and even double length bleeds. No wasted stats to duration that will result in half seconds that fail to tick.
Probably run utilities like:
Heal: Heal of Choice
Elite: Signet of Rage
Utility 1: Banner of Choice (tactics IMO)
Utility 2: For Great Justice
Utility 3: Shake it off!
Valor [RUN] Guild
Kaineng Server
try this build ,
heal: healing surge
elite: signet of rage
uti1: endure pain
uti2: berserker stance
uti3: dolyak signet
Dolyak Signet is worthless. Why pick it?

1hand sword is excellent if you use it for savage leap and immob+swap into HB.
But it’s not very good alone, it’s more of a secondary set weapon.
So far the setups I found useful PvP wise are:
GS+Rifle
GS+LB
GS+Axe/Wh(shield)
GS+Sword/Wh(shield)
GS+Hammer
Hammer+Sword/Wh(shield)
Other setups simply don’t offer enough mobility which is fundamental in WvW.
Good utilities for warrior are always Signet of Stamina and Balanced Stance, the stability is always nice to avoid being bubbled or just tossed around and the endurance regen from the passive signet is great, not to mention the CD removal it offers when used. third utility i’d suggest Shake it Off for a stun break, FGJ!, Bull’s Charge, or maybe a banner. Depends on your spec. Warrior is very versatile, proper traiting, gear and sigils you can make a pretty nice bleed build (done right you can add up to 3 stacks of bleed per auto attack) and sword already offers a great mobility booster with it’s 2 skill.
But on the subject of Dolyak Signet, just don’t use it. The 90 toghness is in my experience far less useful than the stability. When it’s down to that, Balanced Stance beats the bag out of it with having 20 second shorter CD untraited and 8s traited. If you’re using it in a signet build, well, I’m sorry :p

From what i know sword pretty much suck at everything. except for mh leap mobility which is not that great compare to others
at 1st you will “find out” that sword offhand is good, but later on, you will discover that it is actually useless
“berserker stance clears all CC on you and you’re still immune to CC for 8 seconds”

Dolyak Signet is worthless. Why pick it?
Try it and you will see it’s not that useless with the build i provided
For off hand I experimented with mace/shield/axe and sword. Axe lacks mobility which makes those 1v1 fights impossible.
I find Axe offhand pretty, um, lackluster? I mean the Axe4 only gives you about 8 seconds of Fury on a class that you pretty much have permafury so theres that and Whirlwind seems strong visually but at the end of it I find I’ve only done 5-10k on a 20 second cd. I do more than that with GS autos lol.
But if your issue with it is mobility, and since you already have tactics picked up, you could try traiting in to Leg Specialist for the snare provided by sword3 Hamstring(assuming you still use Bolt for you mainhand), if you haven’t already. Not saying its the best but it could help with people running from you. I use Axe/Mace and the trait makes Axe #2 a ranged snare/slow combo helping me close distance. If the snare alone isn’t enough then I can smack them with mace5, another ranged KD/stun.
Main hand sword… I got nothing except maybe spvp hotjoin “idgaf” builds..

Oh because it’s a terrible build you need terrible skills got it
Why wouldn’t you go condition damage if he’s using a sword? You know, the main source of damage that a sword provides? I mean, if you’re so set on stacking toughness try something like this.
Lets see if Dolyak Signet is any good in damage reduction in any meaningful way. I’m sick of people saying its useful when it is absolutely worthless compared to Balanced Stance.
Here’s how damage is calculated
Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
(source= http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Damage )
So the higher you stack toughness, you get diminishing returns. Defense (from armor) + Toughness = Armor (the stat that is used to calculate damage reduction). The build I linked has 1836 armor, and 1927 toughness, so your defense would be 3763. That’s a lot. You know that number that shows up in a skill’s tooltip? That is calculated vs. a target with 2600 Armor. So, now, let’s do some Algebra.
Hopped on my warrior and he has 3372 Attack with 8 stacks of might, and chop does
659 damage. The weapon damage used is the average of the weapons range, so an 80 exotic axe uses 959.5 damage. We can solve for the damage coefficient of chop, which is 0.74591550963, so we’ll round that to 0.75. Now, do the equation to find how much chop, non crit, does against the Armor of this build, and then we can see the difference that Dolyak Signet makes. Oh boy.
Run the numbers, and for without Dolyak Signet a single chop does 457.82 damage, and with it that number goes aaaaaaaall the way down to 447.13 damage. Good thing we had that extra 90 toughness!
Don’t use Dolyak Signet. It’s not good. ESPECIALLY when you’re stacking toughness. The way defense works you get diminishing returns for stacking toughness. The build I linked had less toughness than the one you did, meaning that Dolyak Signet would have done even less than it does with the one I linked. You gain a tiny damage reduction in return for 20 seconds more CD of stability.
So, actually, it’s exactly the skill you DON’T need with your build.

How is it not useless?
1) All it does is add 80 or so Toughness. Waste of a Utility slot.
2) If its Stability you’re after, Balanced Stance does it better.
