Ok so here’s the thing, I love hammer warriors and I plan on respeccing my sword/axe + longbow PvE warrior to hammer for both PvE and WvW.

My current build is very powerful and very survivable in PvE but in WvW I’m only useful in large group fights with my healing banners and insanely strong LB AoE burst skill, and I say “insanely” cause in large groups a lot of the time the AoE field doesn’t even appear on opponents screens, I’ve tested it, so LOTS of enemies just stand in it and almost completely die without even realizing the Fire Field lol But in single fights almost every class can completely nullify my bleeds and when the Fire field is visible it’s easily avoided.

I know hammer works well cause before I had optimized my stats for PvE I used to run in WvW with a hammer and the AoE stuns and decent damage/survivability was very good. Plus I play it for gags in sPvP in random rooms cause nobody expects a hammer warrior to 3 shot them before they can move lol

My question now is for stats I want to be decent at damage dealing AND survivable for PvE but not full tank, so should I go power/toughness/vitality like most people are telling me and just spec into the power/precision/burst trees? Or should I go power/precision/toughness then spec into healing banners/healing shouts again for the vitality boost and survivability?

Here is the build I use for WvW, I feel that it has a good mix of survivability along with damage. Plus it makes use of the hammer and longbow. Stat wise it’s a mix of cavalier, knights, and soldier with beryl and a ruby for extra crit damage.

24,732 hp
3311 armor

ty for the info, I hadn’t thought of using shouts instead of a banner to heal, do they heal a decent amount or are they primarily used for condition removal with the soldiers runes?

I use the shouts mainly for condition removal. I see the healing as a nice bonus rather than the reason to run shouts. They heal for 1192 I believe, so in the same build the banner will heal for more in the same time frame. However, the shouts remove 3 conditions, I gain adrenaline on use, SIO serves as an extra stun breaker, plus the might and fury from FGJ, plus the small heal.

Yeah actually I think as a hammer warr the adrenaline from shouting might be enough to upset the balance, since hammer burst is ridiculously strong in groups lol
Either way I HAVE to try this now XP

I came to the same conclusion, just feel that the utility from the shouts outweighs the added heal. Especially since both the hammer and longbow burst are great for larger encounters. Ive found the longbow burst to be really nice for containing and pushing back an enemy group/zerg.
