zerker armor , valkyrie weapons , mix zerker trinkets with 1 or 2 knight ones
thats kind of what i run here and it runs fine

too much knights only gives you a high toughness and crit change useless if your power is low and crit dmg
Mostly soldier’s with three pieces of berzerker jewelry. Rifle and hammer seem like a good combination for crowd control. Kill shot is highly telegraphed so you can force people to blow a dodge to avoid it, or have a mesmer or thief stealth you to maximize your sniping potential. Hammer will be your main weapon, it’s a no nonsense, no frills weapon that does its job.

wow… just wow, and you’re planing to give info to people about builds? with knight gear and knight rings, rest zerker you have 2.5k power unbuffed 3.1k armor 50% crit(70% with fury) and 195% crit dmg, with full zerker you have 225% crit dmg, and you’re literally only losing about 30% crit dmg for 800-ish armor, you’re losing max 5% dps for a huge survival boost. Please do some testing before you wanna give advice.

I threw together two separate builds based on your previous description (all zerk vs knights with some zerk) and ended up with a crit damage difference of about 40 percentage points and about 200 power. Difference in toughness was about 700.

I just go full Zerk. I run 90% of the time in a 3-5 man party and I usually don’t feel like I’m too fragile. I might swap to 1 or 2 Valk pieces one they remove guard stacks though.

Looks solid enough, but the actual trade-off appears to be 700 extra toughness in exchange for:
- 170 less power
- 33 percentage points less crit damage
Might be a good trade, but it’s definitely not twice as tanky … especially with shield, dodge, and stances providing most of the defense. The damage would be noticeably less too, given how often both builds will crit.
Could still be a good be a good trade, depending on personal playstyle and context.
Edit: Sorry, I use shield and didn’t think to look if yours did. With a hammer, the extra toughness may indeed be worth it since you lack the block.

I’m currently running knights armor with hoelbrak and zerk trinks and weapons and I still feel tankish for blob fights in T1 so for roaming, I can say go even zerkier imo
this is what i run atm
again i use this build solely for duels and small scale roaming encounters , i run different builds when raiding or gvging
Full zerker is best as warrior. Simple as that.

You basically trade 40% crit and 3K health to get 500 more toughness. Compared to this zerk build:
I personally wouldn’t do that trade but it might be better for your playstyle. I usually play in 3-5 man groups taking on higher numbers, and we blast alot of waters and stuff like that so I might be a bit blind to other peoples experiences but I dont think I would do that trade either way.

You have to compare like with like though. He could slot Great Fortitude to close that vitality gap too. Also, his damage output would be higher with his current build due to Forceful Greatsword.
Question for you though. If you’re running in in 3-5 man groups, why the sword over axe or mace (assuming you want to keep the shield)? The axe would give you more damage pressure and the mace would give you a little more defense but much more cc to peel people off of your friends.

Ok. Yes he could take that but he doesn’t. I don’t use the Greatsword currently so there’s no need for me to take FG. I get 11 and a half seconds per block on my shield though, which is on a 20 second cooldown. I can choose to use it offensively. I don’t get the extra condition removal though. That’s the real disadvantage but I feel like I don’t need more survival in general.
I have tried everything in a group and Sword just seems to suit our group the best. I can kite around but still stay in the fight. I could go axe or mace but I wouldn’t be able to take the Hammer because I would have almost zero mobility. I have played alot of GS/Hammer though. That works good but I feel like I’m out of position and not really a part of the group with that set. Sword allows me to make shorter leaps more often, and the block helps me even more with staying with my group. Usually we survive by waterfields. I’ve got a blast on the hammer, 2 short leaps on the sword/shield – around 5K all in all. Final thrust is a super finisher aswell(9-12K crits) which means you can save adrenalin for Hammer Stun, and the immob is very good for pinning a target or immobing an ele before he’s going into mist, immobing a thief before he goes into stealth etc.
Taking another weapon set might make sense in fair fights. I’m talking alot about group play but that’s because 90% of my gw2 life is with the same group of people, always WvW. However, most of the time we find ourselves outnumbered 5v10 or even more. What I need is not an extra stun or damage pressure. We need to be able to move around like hell and pick out targets to quickly nuke and then regroup for a quick group heal. Nothing like these weapons for that. Sorry for wall of text :P
Toughness is useless in wvw now because of conditions.
