Here’s a spec I think that may work with the traits introduced in the berzerker line that somewhat improve upon the traditional super tank warrior build.

Obviously the goal of this build is NOT damage but rather sustain and stun-locks/harassing of enemy backline. It’s more geared towards front-line warriors which run as commanders as we all know a pin going down normally will result in a full-wipe.

For your thoughts, a lot of the more well-known commander pins tend to run a similar build.

If anyone has any ideas of modifying it to work with how Anet thought a Berserker would somehow work in WvW, please let me know. To me, sacrificing group support and sustain for what would amount to as sub-par DPS just didn’t seem like a good trade-off.

I’ve played for Ark and other gvg guilds for quite a while, and I main warrior. So here is my input. An effective frontline warrior is a mix between being tanky and having damage. Without damage you are useless. Yeah the CC and stuns are nice but you aren’t going to do anything against a good team with condition clear and party stability.

Well that is true, I think we’re looking at it differently at least from where I am from which is T1. In T1 it isn’t regularly a 15v15 gvg or any such a thing, it’s zerg vs zerg. In this situation I think it changes where damage is already well covered by the dozens of eles, necros etc while sustain is not.

This spec doesn’t guarantee poor damage, it’s not like it’s full nomads, but it’s not its main purpose either. The crit chance is poor and the ferocity (though noticeably, I crit more than 4% of the time in practice for whatever reason) but the overall white damage is still relatively good; you’re still breaking above 2400 power which is not a bad number to have for someone who can also soak up a tremendous amount of damage and overall be a major pest to their backline with knock backs, stuns and immobs while also having a very supportive way of condi-clears and shout-heals not to mention banners. Even a slight reduction in efficiency to an enemy’s backline will have a huge difference on the outcome. If the enemy is worry about bombing the head of what is mostly brick walls, my backline is free to hit them hard where it’ll be more effective.

You don’t seem to be getting much from tactics. You could go discipline instead and pickup WS, BR, and MH.
What about replacing shake it off with outrage? Stunbreak on a 10s CD seems pretty good.

I was so thinking about outrage too. 10s stunbreak is so nice. the only issue is it doesn’t count as a shout, so there’s no (while very minor) healing and it doesn’t condi cleanse on my group. With so many other stunbreakers and stab that I have, I felt like 10s more was worth it since it’s also not a challenge to get full adrenaline in WvW (I am constantly waiting for cooldowns right now anyhow with a full bar).

That’s a good point about dicipline. That’s the line i give up by adding berserker (which I honestly feel like I’d rather NOT have.. but I wanted to find a way to include it). You get that nice quicker weapon swap too so energy runes become so nice to have on both weapons. The only thing I have a tough time giving up from tactics is the automatic “Shake it Off” since it’ll normally fire next to the rest of my front-line at first initialization, clearing them of any immobs that may have been dropped. That’s a good point though, I will definitely need to play with it between Tactics vs Discipline, they’re both so good, one is more “personal” while the other, I think, has better group benefits.

GOod point though, I think Discipline would be the better way to go over Tactics now that I think about it more. Quicker hammer stuns too (horray!).

Yeah, I would dump the tactics line you have only 1 shout on your bar and no soldier runes. No self might generation so phalanx strength would not be an option either. With you current setup, tactics has very little benefit.

If you go for discipline you get all the good stuff like Fast Hands so you can pick a better runes set, Warrior Sprint to help from being locked down, and Brawlers Recovery to make up for the loss of Shrug it off.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”
