GS/axe and GS/hammer also are great at 1vX. Just not so much vs thieves

You can win a 1vX with Axe, so long as you hit hard enough to down one of the Thieves fast enough with a well-timed Evis.. If it’s 2 Thieves you’re probably screwed no matter what class you’re playing.
Hammer & Axe/Warhorn is better than Hammer & Sword/Warhorn for Zerg content. I’ve never understood why so many use the sword, it really doesn’t offer anything other than a single target immobilize – which falls subpar to a decent damage auto attack when your Hammer CCs are CD.
axe/sword & sword/warhorn – One of my favorites for roaming.
shout heal conditional sw+sw/LB is great for zerg as well.
You give 6 stack of might + fury to everyone, heal everyone 6k + every 20 sec, plus aoe conditional cleanse and stun break.
For damage you can single target + aoe, your LB F1 burning alone can tick for 800.
If all the above is not good for zergs, I don’t know what is.
Loving zerk longbow sword/warhorn for wvw, I can blast my own firefields and leap for fireaura and you can never have too much condition cleanse nowadays with conditions builds everywhere

And you’re wrong. First off Flurry is a AoE skill, second the sword isn’t used for damage except for Final Thrust on a low hp target. Sword shines in zerg because you can immobilize multiple targets into a co-ordinated aoe bomb. And ofc the mobility helps to get back for regroups if you fall behind.
Edit: On the OP. Rifle + Mace/Shield. Seen more and more of these builds lately, its mostly a dueling build tho and its pretty straight forward. Signet of Might → Skullcrack → Killshot → Volley.

Add my cc chain build hammer rifle
I was wondering about mace/warhorn over mace/shield. It seems you can spec for mace to do more damage vs weakened foes (10%). Warhorn provides weakness a lot easier than mace AA (3rd part of chain). It would also offer better mobility and condition removal which are always needed in wvw. So easier to spec for more damage, more mobility and condi removal. You give up a block, interrupt and some defense but for 10% more damage I would choose warhorn if you are going to MH mace.
I mention it because I have never seen in mentioned. If I were MH mace I would run Warhorn over shield. I know the stun sets up skullcrack, but lag can do that as well. The shield stun is really brief and I think a player would get more overall use out of warhorn instead of hoping a haymaker skullcracker will land with everything jsut right.

It has never been mentioned before because it is a big nono. Boosting mace damage by 10% is irrelevant as you only hope to land skullcrack>some combo. Autoattacking with mace is just too slow.
