if I “only” attack with my axe “autoattack” button. Does it matter what is in my offhand?

or an alternate way to ask the question is if I have axe/axe and I have axe/shield. Do I do more damage on my axe/axe if I just auto attack than my axe/shield?

This question is purely theoretical. I understand many warrior use axe/mace since mace gives vulnerability on their other attack.

.. That depends on the traits you’ve got. But if you don’t have traits that say otherwise, the answer is no.

axe/shield would be a loss of 5% from trait ‘dual wielding’

The stats matter that are on your offhand weapon and some sigils on the offhand weapon still run even if your only hitting with main hand.

If the damage and stats of the off hand axe and shield are the same, then no. Both hands equipped still total up your stats and overall attack power.
