berserker trait in wvw after patch
I’ve been running core warrior the entire time, but I’ve noticed a few more core warriors running around. I caught (and fought) a streamer the other day who was experimenting with core for the same reason as you.
In truth, I think Berserker still has the edge on a number of fronts, but the changes to burst and Headbutt timing has been unsettling enough for people to get them experimenting more.

I was literally doing the same the other day – after the slow motion nerf I just can’t force myself to play my ‘old’ GS / Mace+Shield Berserker build anymore as it feels incredibly sluggish.
So yeah, while I’m by no means a WvW expert (more like a newbie) I went back experimenting with a supporty playstyle, currently running the Shouts Frontliner build with little tweaks.
Using mostly tactics/discipline/defense, but in zergs with perma swiftness I sometimes drop discipline for strength.
For weapons, I’m using Axe+Axe / Sword+Warhorn at moment and having quite some fun with it.
With all the heal (from tactics line) and condi cleansing (say hi to condi meta) on my shouts, and other stuff like Warhorn skills plus Battle Standard, this build gives nice teamfight/support abilities, and whenever I feel like chop chop I can switch to Axe+Axe which does some respective damage and provides good tagging.
While in zergs and small-scale skirmishes this build works really nice, I wouldn’t recommend it for solo roaming though. :D For that purpose I think I will experiment with a Rifle Berserker build once I’ll have some free time in the weekend.

so im not the only1 ^^
now its intresting cuz ppl got used to fight the same headbut+burst warrior and now most of them are surprised) its soo much more fun
this morning i switched to berserker traitline for 1 hour aaand i went back to core warr, its nice to have 2 single target stuns and 2 aoe stuns ^^ wich also loads ppl with weakness
+1 I’m back on vanilla, I find a balanced stance build better than nerf eternal champion.
I’ve also switched to axes, which seem to be fine , but more because I need a break from gs.
in a zerg of say 20 I was seeing maybe 4-7 berserkers
now I see maybe 2 and 2 warriors, or less
I was actually about to make a topic on this glad I’m not the only one reverting back!
I forgot how good the strength line is and the loss of rage skills has rekindled my love for bulls charge….when it hits
I’ve been experimenting too. Axe is still bad. (it’s the damage on auto versus closing distance or block utility). The Axe GM is an inferior option too.
It’s still a Defense/Discipline build + Trait line though if vanilla Warrior because too many core (required) traits on are in those two lines.
If you compare Strength line versus Berserker line, Berserker still wins. But I’ve been experimenting with an D/D/Arms build lately myself just to do something different.
I did´t play my warrior much but i always used strength/defence/berserker and will stick to it. Arc diver and headbut nerfs did hit me in WvW but otherwise i am fine. I always used bloody roar and have enough stunbreakers and stab.
“I’ll destroy you all!…. Slowly”.
Nah, core warrior can be better in most circumstances with proper build/setup, but I still enjoy my berserker. Been playing zerker since the day HoT was released, love the “style” of it.
I’ve been playing exclusively great sword and sword shield warrior (power build) since pre HoT and upwards of now when I feel like playing core warrior and roaming – if anyone is interested, drop me a message and I’ll create the build in an editor… Typing here in my phone at the moment.
