deals 50% more damage to foes below 50%
Yeah Anet lie they sad it was gonna be 100% more damage on foes with 50% or less HP,so much for the executor style promise :I
Where did they say 100% ? I already stated in another thread that we got a toned down version which is just unfair without any explanation.
In the ready up video he says “bonus damage to enemy below 50% health”… It leads me to believe this phrasing was intentional to open up the chance for them to change it if they feel like it.
http://dulfy.net/2014/08/08/gw2-ready-up-upcoming-warrior-and-thief-class-changes/
They were gonna make it executor style(you see the 100% damage boost in screenshot, now it just meh damage when foes are under 50%…
Of course, you want to execute someone with 50% health….
Warriors…..
oh yes, so typical of warriors, those silly bunch that get upset because the only thing the dev made look cool from the patch end up being nearly worse than what we had before.
I wonder why we havent gotten any official response yet.
I was so pumped to finally use greatsword more often but I guess I’ll stick with Sw/sh in WvW. At least final thrust does execute someone with ~40% health. Hell it doesnt even use adren.
The greatsword probably cant even keep up with a full hammer rotation in terms of raw damage, I am pretty sure it cant.
I’m not that kind of guy who post on forums about class changes, but those changes on warriors are just a joke for me. I really liked the way they changed the OPness from HB and Whirlwind, but take off the dmg from Arcing Slice is just the most ridicuolous thing they could do.
I’m not crying to get HB + whirlwind dmg back. I just want the real Arcing Slice they showed on class changes preview: 100% dmg increase on Arcing Slice on Enemies with 50% health or less and non ninjaed base dmg on this skill.
… and btw, Arcing Slice should be executor style skill, not that ordinary low dps skill.
As people already stated on this topic, Final Thurst deals more dmg with AoE effect and still doesn’t costs Adrenaline.
classic bait and switch…
classic bait and switch…
They got a lot of practice with that launching Guild Wars 2 I hear.
skill is pretty kittening good, why dont you try it instead of whining
full damage on 1 bar of adren, easily spammable, quick enough to combo with cc, large aoe, gives enormous amount of free fury…
sword/greatsword zerk is so much fun now
Sadly I too feel they should have left it 100%.

Which does introduce the possible burst > burst combos with burst mastery. Something like flurry/earthshaker > arcing slice.
The QQs are not because of the skill changes. Warriors rly needed some kind of nerf, but ANet didn’t nerf warrior’s GS, they literally killed that weapon of choice.
The QQing is because of ANet lied on livestream. They showed a counter-point to keep the high dps on warriors GS (Arcing Slice) and everyone was ok about that, but now the arcing slice just do not compensate the loss of dps we got. Btw, i guess if warrior get what ANet showed on livestreams, most of warriors wouldn’t whining all around.

I did try it… a lot and it’s not that good.
1.) Sub 50% it hits for a little bit more than a good crit but not much
2.) We don’t need another way to generate “enormous amount of free fury” we’ve already got that covered in spades
3.) It’s not “free fury” when you have to spend a resource to get it
4.) Try to combo a CC with final thrust a couple times then take a good look at the damage Arcing Slice is offering you (I’ll give you a hint, AC has a damage coefficient of 1.4 and FT has a coefficient of 3.0 for a little perspective)
5.) You can combo most Adrenaline dumps with a CC outside of kill shot
6.) We don’t need another form of AoE, again we’ve already got more than enough of that on GS already.
So I really get the feeling that you’re trying really hard to love these changes even though if you took step back and really looked at them from a design standpoint you’d realize like so many others how bad they are.
Personally, I didn’t generate 100% fury uptime in combat before, but now I do.
That’s my only buff.
and it doesn’t compensate for the mechanic nerfs.
plus the arcing slice is ugly. where’s the animation on the Ready up Vid?
I’m glad Anet is attempting to balance things, but they listened to too much of the QQ and became convinced that we had it too easy before.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
I can do point by point rebuttals too, it’s so easy when you can just ignore what the other person really means
It hits for 2 auto attacks for less cast time than 1, it is not supposed to be hitting as hard as level 3 evis.
It gives you fury without needing to spec for it because it is a skill you will want to be using, ’Nuf said.
Comparing this to final thrust is hilarious, arcing is a million times faster and easier to land… and oh yeah you can have BOTH
What other adrenaline dumps? This isn’t even a dump, you can fire it off and get meaningful damage from just swapping weapons once (with adren on swap). Evis will still miss due to random garbage or good players saving escapes because evis is way more telegraphed.
We do not have enough aoe on greatsword, after blowing 100b and almost dying trying to cleave down a body, this is exactly what we needed

Yes, it actually kind of is, do you recall from the Ready Up video we were told that we were getting an “executioner style” attack that would do significantly more damage sub 50%? Here I’ll remind here, you can find the cliff notes at http://dulfy.net/2014/08/08/gw2-ready-up-upcoming-warrior-and-thief-class-changes/

So does For Great Justice and Signet of Rage, you don’t have to spec for either of those as well.

You’re missing my point… I was inferring that Arcing Slice isn’t exactly “executioner style” when it hits for substantially less than a skill like Final Thrust.

Earthshaker? Combustive Shot? Flurry if you’re condi specced? You do understand there are more specs out there than the typical ADHD hyperactive GS warrior one right?

Well the fact that you’re trying to use 100b in PvP or WvW at all is a bit of an issue because anyone at all with a stun break and/or knows how to dodge will render that skill pointless. But I digress, you’re completely ignoring that you’re often sacrificing a ton of passive bonuses to use adrenal dump skills like Berserker’s Power, Adrenal Health and Heightened Focus. Fact is I don’t want to constantly be running at1 bar of adrenaline just so I can spam Arcing Slice in it’s current state, it’s just not that good.
Also yes it actually is supposed to be hitting that

The change is just odd because it is assumed they reduced the damage on hundred blade AND whirlwind attack already to compensate for the f1 rework. Since they were making this change I assumed that majority of the damage was just going to be front loaded to the f1 in a similar fashion to axe (Damage on f1, utility on axe 2 and 3). Instead, they decided to nerf the damage on HB and whirlwind along with making arcing slice an average burst ability at best.
So what we’re left with is a pretty average – if not sub par – weapon.

No it isnt, that would be too much damage to have on GS, you are just salty
Taking a utility IS speccing. Many players run greatsword just because they want greatsword.
The executioner mechanic refers to the thief trait that only gives +20% damage under half health… so it performs much better than “executioner style” and your point is invalid
Those are condition bursts that are obviously not to be compared with power skills.
You can’t stunbreak if you are downed, and forcing players to stunbreak from a low cd skill is more than acceptable. Unless you are a soloQer and don’t have teammates to coordinate with.

Executioner mechanics are not synonymous with the Thief class, and the Thief’s trait is not the benchmark to focus the mechanic around for Warrior.
While I think the weapon is more fun to use as it plays now, it surely isn’t as effective as it should be. Rush does more damage than our burst skill. This is not acceptable, imo (and I am NOT saying to nerf Rush, Anet. Jesus Christ).
Tested it out for a couple hours. Imo its the same old arcing slice in an aoe. Its not worth using it how it is now unless you need the fury or ire proc.
If they make it 100% more dmg at enemy hp less than 50% then this skill be very worth it. But atm it’s just meh. The 8% extra nerf only made it worse and it doesn’t do much of a bonus to ppl with less than 50% hp. Its just a 1k-1.15k dmg increase to targets less than 50% so it only does 2k more dmg than an auto atk.

I dont think they ever said this, your fault if you believed that “bonus” damage had to be 100%

The 8% base damage decrease is the worst of all, makes the overall increased damage of the ability even more lackluster than it seems at first glance. I wouldn’t be so disenchanted with the whole change if they didn’t nerf the abilities base damage.
Like everyone else said, perfect example of bait n’ switch.

Already stated more than once on this topic that anyone here was “imagening” that was 100% dmg increasing, that dmg icreasing was said during the livestream previewing the class changes, easily found on dulfy.

The solution is obvious. Nerf FT.
>The solution is obvious. Nerf FT.
That would render the sword useless on a power spec. Not gonna happen. Two handed weapons already are far superior than most dual wield specs, which is silly imo.

I was being facetious. But seriously, the way anet makes changes though I wouldn’t be surprised they’d nerf “strong” skills to make bad ones look more appealing.

Like how they nerfed SOR so people would use Rampage?

Exactly. And the funny part is most people still won’t use rampage.
You guys should try and keep SoR on Passive, it’s quite a nice way to gain adrenaline, mixed with weapon swapping :> and hitting people. People are also forgetting that SoR’s passive was buffed by 50% to compensate for the 5s reduction on the three skills.

Because rampage is bad by design. I don’t mean mechanics wise but concept-wise.
It could be buffed so much that they make it OP but it doesn’t change the fact the the conceptually the skill isn’t too well designed. Why?
It makes you drop your weapons – in a game where weapons, skins and looks matter most people don’t want to be “that guy” who fistfights his way through combat.
This is a game – it doesn’t just have to work – people want it to look cool and nifty while it’s working. It has to feel satisfying. And in no way does it feel satisfying to use it. So people don’t.

That and being locked out of essential utilities and skills is something rather undesirable as well.
