Hello Im looking to start my 4th alt character and im stuck between warrior and ele. I do wvw and spvp pretty much exclusively.(if not my mesmer can easily handle the pve conetent lols)
1. Im curious to if there is a sw/sw/GS build that would be possible. From what ive seen sword is condis and GS is power.
2. Is there any SW/SW build that doesnt use longbow back up.
3. i really really wanna use sw/sw if i roll warrior i have 2 max geared and elveled thiefs and a mesmer so im going to enjoy having a bit of tankiness , however i will be running a glass setup.
4. Is the only good roaming zerk meta axe/shield/GS right now?
5. last question would be warrior or ele what would u choose?

I don’t know about actual high-skill viability, but I imagine it could have some use.

Sword+Sword is best for condition damage on a warrior thanks to bleed and torment, but it also has decent power due to the fast strikes of S1 and F1, and S2’s as solid a hit as anything else, and the jump is amazingly useful. S4 gives you another projectile to use before closing and hits pretty kitten its own, and S4’s secondary deals brutal damage if you can get it off (And, if you’re a power warrior, you don’t have to worry about making sure you get all 5 torment stacks before pulling). S5 is a good defense (Which GS lacks entirely) and counters hard.

So, you get excellent mobility (Possibly too much to be of use between GS 3, S2, and GS5), good ranged options (Both GS and Sword have projectiles), a block, and strong impacts.

Biggest problem might be muscle memory between them – 3 and 5 are mobility on the GS and 2 roots you, while 2 on the Sword is a gap-closer and 3 roots you. So you end up rooting yourself or wasting a block when you try to pursue or close.

Hi, and welcome to the warrior forum.

1. Im curious to if there is a sw/sw/GS build that would be possible. From what ive seen sword is condis and GS is power.

Yes, but the sword can also be used in power builds, especially for its #3 which does some huge damage when the opponent is under 50% health. The greatsword, however, cannot be used for conditions.

I’ve used a S/S GS build in roaming before, running an hybrid setup (condition and direct damage). It worked nicely, and the loss of damage resulting from the choice of a non-specialized build, would be compensated by the fantastic mobility coming from the sword and greatsword.

Such builds are legitimate in WvW, only because gear, food and buffs provide for acceptable general stats. In sPvP, running hybrid is a much bolder move, possibly not efficient enough, because max stats are weaker.

4. Is the only good roaming zerk meta axe/shield/GS right now?

Certainly not. While A/S + GS builds are usually fun to play, because they offer some dynamic game play, they’re also quite glassy, so not for everyone. There are plenty of roaming builds available – i.e. lots of builds that let you take a camp alone, duel other roamers and scout enemy positions.

5. last question would be warrior or ele what would u choose?

It depends on what you’re looking for. Warrior is fun, you hit hard and last long, without thinking too much, as the adrenaline mechanics is easy to grasp. No subtlety, but the pleasure of sheer power. On the other hand, Elementalist has more to do with elegance, switching elements in a flexible way and performing more demanding combos.
