Q:
how does 'Battle Standard' works?
If you use the 5 skill, which puts it back to the ground, it will res whoever is downed (that is if you are holding it)

-so people are revived only when banner placed on the ground (either use elite skill or take existed banner and use 5 skill) ?
-can i do it several times with one banner?
-if i place my banner bafore battle and didnt touch it in battle noone will be revived automatically?
if all this true why so many people use it before battle? to revive smone u have to go to the place where banner is and use 5 with it, when u can use ur elite whatever place you want
People place it before a fight to get the boons. Several stacks of might and fury can be nice to have the entire fight, rather than just after someone downed.

The reviving effect is unreliable at best. Use it for the steroids.
Do you even lift, bro?

wait? if you just pick it up and drop it, it will re-res? o.o no way. i gotta try this…
can anyone confirm?
I’m pretty sure it’s just the same 5 shared between all the banners.

There seems no clear directions on how to use the battle standard properly.
no it doesn’t work that way casting it is a one time rez and only if the player is down not dead. people place it before a fight because of the boons.

It doesn’t revive people. It heals downed people.
Holy mother of misinformation…
- The Battle Standard (Warrior banner elite) does NOT revive when you use the #5 skill. That’s just a blast finisher…
- The Battle Standard will, however, instantly revive up to 3 DOWNED (not defeated) allies in its AoE when its first dropped by the warrior.
- However, the Standard CAN fully revive NPCs from death, such as keep lords (NPCs don’t have a downed state).
- The Battle Standard ALSO provides bonus while it’s out, like any other banner skill. In this case, Fury, Might and Swiftness.
- Battle Standard will ALSO trigger any other traits that any other banner does. For example, if you have Inspiring Battle Standards trait it’ll grant regen to players.
So the reason you see people use it without people getting downed is for the buffs. However in PvP/WvW this is often unwise as you lose the triple revival.

Actually it’s not. As I said, it heals downed players instead of reviving.

Read again.
If your issue is with the terminology than take it up with ANet, because “revive” is the terminology they use.
Place a battle standard that revives fallen allies and grants fury, might, and swiftness to allies.
I just find “revive” problematic as people quite often think it as rallying. Devs also seem to mix up the terms as downed skills talk about healing instead of reviving.

Revive: Verb
revive (third-person singular simple present revives, present participle reviving, simple past and past participle revived)
(transitive) To return to life; to recover life or strength; to live anew; to become reanimated or reinvigorated.
The Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into again, and he revived. 1 Kings xvii. 22.
The dying puppy was revived by a soft hand.
Her grandmother refused to be revived if she lost consciousness

Revive: Verb (transitive)
1. to restore to consciousness or life
2. to restore from a depressed, inactive, or unused state : bring back
Anyway, I think Weth’s point was that the banner doesnt always have a 100% chance of reviving. There have been some cases (mainly dungeons like TA) where I throw down the banner to revive them but instead of rallying they regain like 50% of their downed health but still stay downed. This happens if there are mobs attacking them and they have poison or bleed stacks on them, this negates the effects of warbanner and they end up dying anyway—which I honestly think is something they should fix. In the case of NPCs it actually brings them back from defeated state, which is very useful in some cases. Say if Hodgins dies in the middle of the stairs with fire traps on AC P1, it would be near impossible to revive him without use of warbanner (or something similar).

The war banner just heals 100% of their downed HP, so if agony or poision are present it reduces the heal amount due to its effects. so if your at 10% downed health and have poision on you one warbanner will not revive you just heal you a big chunk.
I hate this thing for reviving downed players, it only works on 3 and they have to be downed not dead and the cast time is soooo slow by the time it lands they are prob doubled downed by then . It should be an instant. It’s good for buffs and getting the lords up.
Battle standard is most used for the team boons you would get. With 100 % increased boon duration , one warrior would give fury and swiftness for 130 seconds and would keep 6-7 stacks of migh for 20 seconds constant to nearby alies in a fierce fight.
65 second / 3 seconds = 21,6 × 3 seconds fury/swift x2 from boon= 130 seconds
With 100 % boon duration, skill 2 whirlwind banner would give 6 seconds of stability with a 15 seconds cooldown, although using this skill will need to lock character on ground/position.

hey man know you wrote that 3 years ago but ty, just got into this game and this was real helpful
Does it revive lords again? They deliberately removed that feature a couple of years ago… had no idea that they brought it back
