Like the title ask, whats the best way to get the most out of Shield in PvE and PvP?

Other than the obvious for traiting it? Use it with a Mace for lots of stuns/lockdowns and some extra blocking/defence

The trait skill Missile Deflection in the warrior’s defense tree is not bad.

Shields real utility/strength is if you trait it.

• 90+toughness + 61 built in at lvl 80 = 151 toughness (decent defense)
• 3 second invuln every 24 seconds is a good blocker against an enemy player burst or in PvE its good against bosses that you know are gonna use a specific attack like Kholer in AC.
• 1 second stun (real use is small gap closer and interrupt – great for stopping specific mobs from using an attack or knocking a defiance bar from a boss) every 20 seconds is pretty useful, plus the damage on it is pretty decent.

Combine all that, and that’s what you can make out of shield for warrior. Its not bad in terms of utility, but others would argue warhorn is better for more uses and when traited. Personally I love the shield, its more of a preference offhand.

in wvwvw ? simple, use stability , shield block (5 ) , run betwen 50 enemy’s and use fear me and aoe stomp . return to your group with bull charge or leap

Yep, check out Mighty Defenses (I) in Discipline too for might whenever you block. For WvW, you want to look at Mobile Strikes (X) in Discipline -Shield Bash will break immobilize. There’s nothing worse than taunting 50 enemies only to be immobilized a split second before you hit Shield Stance. I use a 0/0/20/30/20 axe/shield build since Eviscerate breaks it too.

I like the trait that stacks might every time you block. It means I can build up some serious damage as a tanky build
