whats the ideal crit % to get the most out of it without over doing/wasting stats?

If you go to www.wiki.guildwars2.com and search for critical hit there shoyld be a graph at the bottom of the page that will give you an outline based on crit chance and crit dmg. Personally shoot for 50% then work on 100 crit dmg. If you want more damage after that either increase crit or power. Keep in mind warriors have access to perma fury or almost perma fury based on build.

I personally run 50% crit chance then i use master maitnence oils and omnom pies which take me to about 75% with fury.

Minimum 66% w/fury for all builds +80% gs builds.

Hm, I run 39% crit chance and 116 crit dmg. Use master maintenance oil, superior sigil of perception and butternut squash soup in WvW, fully stacked sigil gets me to about 60% crit chance, with fury 80%.

ok so the feeling i’m getting is I wanna be aiming for around 35-50% unbuffed and then use fury and food buffs to up the percentage as I see a need.

Yep. There’s always a balance, my 116 crit dmg won’t do kitten if I can’t land it. Foods/sigils/oils and learn to time Fury and you’re set for most of the time, at least as long as you have above 30 % base crit chance.

but honestly ~50% base and higher is solid for most things but you want to push that as high as possible comfortably, crits are a warrior’s bread and butter
