optimizing crit damage post patch.

When you look at this way it may seem like certain pieces are not worth using because some pieces’ crit dam % got nerf more than others.
However if you don’t look at the change, but look at the result it no longer matters which pieces you choose to have ferocity on it. It only matters what the final value ferocity will end up. That’s one of the reason why Anet decide to use ferocity stats.
Look at it this way, you would not say Gloves, Boots, sholders, Backpiece are not worth using as a solider set. Because toughness on these pieces are somehow inferior to the toughness exists on other pieces. Same thing as ferocity, the ferocity on one pieces of gear is no different from ferocity on another piece of gear.
Ya I see your point and I know that it mirrors what anet said. My point being somthing like a glove you give up so much stats for less than 2% now. Where as the helmet gives 2%. If I had to chose between equipping the helmet or the gloves Its easy to choose the helmet and for the gloves I would you rather have almost any other stat spread than 1% because the sacrifice of stats for crit damage is much higher now than it was before.
I think gloves, shoulders, boots, backpiece are absolutely not worth the sacrifice anymore for the small amount of crit damage they give now.

Base on your response, you didn’t get it.
Let me ask you which gives you more crit damage: a zerker legging or 1 zerker glove + 1 zerker boot
Individually a zerker legging gives you 3 crit damage%, zerker glove gives you 1 crit damage% and same as zerker boot. So it may seem like you should choose zerker legging. But once combine into ferocity. You got zerker legging: 50, zerker glove: 25, zerker boot: 25. So a zerker legging == 1 zerker glove + 1 zerker boot.
The bottom line: it no longer matters which piece you should choose for crit damage, as long as it add up to the final value of what you want. So if you already have zerker rings or back piece, not scrap them and make zerker helms instead.
I personally have ferocity on every single piece of gear so this does not matter to me.

You sound like you are from ANET no i did read your post and I did understand what you are saying. I think you are not understanding what I am saying. A glove now gives up 24 points for 1%. Before it would be 24 points for 2%. Gloves boots sholders back piece you are now giving up 107 points for 7%. Before you were giving up 107 points for 11%.
OK for helm + chest + pants = 10%. Before they gave 11% there is barely any difference here you are giving up just as much stats before as you are now for the same amount of crit chance roughly. Where as you are giving up much more stats with gloves boots shoulders backpiece now than you were before.
Its very simple to understand. That those peiece are now not optimal. To the point where you could remove one and see no noticeable difference. but if you removed your chest you would see a difference. Its very clear. that gloves are now suboptimal and the exchange of stats are no longer worth it.
As bad as celestial is not with the slight buff to the other stats on celestial celestial is now more optimal for gloves, boots, shoulders than zerker.

I, too, understand what you are saying, because I, too, were pondering about this question as well. But the answer is still doesn’t matter which pieces you choose.
If you have 1 zerker boot + 1 zerker glove + 1 solider legging should you scrap them and convert it into 1 solider boot + 1 solider glove and 1 zerker legging? Base on your recommendations in your first post, you should. Then I would recommend you try that and let me know if that is a complete waste.

I’m was recommending celestial. I think people will find the difference between crit damage of celestial not much different than zerker now but with more stats per sacrifice for crit damage.

You know what I am on the same boat, I have ascended celestial chest + legging and helm. Most of us probably have zerker trinkets, boot, glove, and shoulder + cele chest and legging and helm. This maximize crit damage.
After the patch, just convert celestials to either solider, knights or zerker. No need to change boot, glove, and shoulder. For a warrior, celestials are just crap. Luckily have also have a Guardian.
The only celestial I ever made were the leggings, since I wanted vitality and condition damage on top of the 4% crit. Now… I will probably wait til gw2skills has the new info and respec a bit.
Best way to optimize crit damage is to take only gear that has a ferocity stat. Play around with different mixes of Valk, Cav, Zerk, and Assassin and you should find a combination that will work for you and get max possible crit damage.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Its no point to maximize crit damage now, at least for pvp and wvw. I would say get ferocity so that you can do around 200% damage on crit, > 40% crit chance, and put everything else into power.
