Ok. ill take the damage. you can remove the 2 second stun from my earthshaker and il take the same damage with a 50% increased crit chance on my next attack (or not idgaf) What anet is saying about separating damage from control is dumb because warriors have no other weapon to deal damage. the hammer is popular to some people because it hits hard not because of the stun. once the patch comes around what AOE burst weapon will hit hard for the warrior? none. there is no choice to be made, its simply removing an build and pushing us to condi spec or full tank.

Separating Dmg and Ctrl exists in every mmo, btw, what i love in hammer is exactly the cc, but i do agree that the nerf on staggering blow is kinda absurd, same on LB, we already have too much cond choices, making LB only cond dmg makes GS/LB loose some powerhouse.

Another thing, they’re adding new weapon types ( i hope soon), and with the new “trait tree” and skills, i can imagine a BattleAxe comming around the corner.

That would mean AoE dmg for how it swings.

You just got the ability to move while casting it, which made it infinitely more useful than before. It’s more balance than nerf.

It is not what you do, but how and why you do it that counts.

its simply removing an build and pushing us to condi spec or full tank.

Something is deemed too powerful, it’s changed, people start using something else. You can follow the train or you can do your own thing and not just throw your build in the toilet over a balance patch.

Every other melee weapon has a cleave which hits 3 and does more damage overall than hammer (except maybe sword). Hammer only has 2 AOE bursts (last of chain and f1). If you want damage greatsword and axe are much better

I agree. They are nerfing hammer way to much. In PvE it sucks. It takes 10 hits to do what greatsword can do in 3. Unshakable.defiant/unstoppable only make it worse. Then there is the dungeons foes that it just says, “immune” even though they have none of the above stated boss buffs. It works well in PvP because all of its abilities are close quarter combat..not a thriw, not a rush that gets used only for disengage due to bad pathing, no 3 second self root..with disempower/unsuspecting foe that is the core of the damage. Look at the damage you do on a foe that has stability and no boons..it is weak as water and about to become thinner still.

no and no. lol you state 2 dps weapons not 2 burst weapons. axe is only single target burst because eviscerate does not cleave. Hammer has a much wider cleave radius on many of its skills, IE number 2 and number 4. it seems anet wants bursting to only be possible in an AOE if its a condi burst

So use a great sword for damage then. Hammer is a CC weapon, not a damage weapon, you said it yourself, and Anet has said they want to separate CC from damage. I’m sorry to tell you this, but warriors won’t have a universal weapon anymore. You have your damage weapon: GS, and your CC weapon: hammer, so use them depending on the situation.

it’s dumb because other classes have CC build that easily out damage war bunker’s regen and still being tanky/survive…

i guess it’s because it’s aoe?…but w/e i don’t really like that tanky hambow build anyway, as i’m playing thief now, if there’s any new good burst warrior with risk and reward but not-free-kill, i might go back again…

But what if that build is only good for throwing in the toilet after the balance patch? Not saying it will be the case but it is a good possibility.

What if say… another build using another weapon entirely becomes more worth someones time? You dont see many eles rolling d/d, or thieves rolling d/d (that last one is kind of a lie) anymore, do you? Nerfs change balance, and balance changes meta. Sure you can still roll the old flavor of the month d/d ele from like 6 months ago, but would you be doing -significantly- better with some other set up? Probably.

How about healing surge? This is the reverse case, where a REALLY good skill was made obsolete because an alternative got over buffed. This buff changed the entirety of the warrior meta, for basically every build.

actually… longbow does great aoe burst damage. granted – not much of an option but just because you don’t play it, it’s kinda presumptuous to say that there’s no options, don’t you think?

Healing surge is still quite good, FOTM warriors just forgot how good it actually is. I use it on some of my builds cause it gives me more control over Adrenaline.

I used to use it in nearly all my set ups, and tried running it recently. It was a painful switch and found it less effective than using the signet. The build I use has little problems with gaining adrenaline without surge, not that its not very nice to have.
