Hi Guys, lately i used only warrior in pvp, and i changed build almost every hour to find a good combination of stats-traits-weapons etc…
i actually found the build that work best for me, awesome dmg and good survivability if ur able to turn around and run when u know ur gonna get stomped in 1vX, btw i actually won every 1v1 i made, but i tried it only in hot joins.
I need help from you warriors to finish this build, there are some tweaks that i still need to do.

WEAPON 1: greatsword with sigil of fire
WEAPON 2: suggestion here, actually using rifle with sigil of air
HEAL SKILL: suggestion here, actually using Mending
UTILITY 1: bull charge
UTILITY 2: frenzy
UTILITY 3: suggestion here, actually using Bolas
ELITE: signet
TRAITS: suggestion here, the points that i’m gonna put for sure are these: 0-25-20-0-15, with traits VI, X, II, VIII, VI, 10 points remaining, i have 3 options:
mobility option: Leg specialist, points in Tactics
defensive option: Defy Pain, points in Defense (using this atm)
offensive version: Crack Shot and Mobile Strike, 5 points in Arms and 5 in Discipline
AMULET: beserk with berserk jewel
RUNES: Lyssa, even if a lot of people blame this choice, i think a full condi removal every 48 seconds for free is the best option by far for me.

Some one -a while back- compared GS damage:
Forceful Greatsword Vs Berserker’s Power+Slashing Power
The result is GS damage is better with points in Strength instead of Arms.
The build he ended up with was 20/20/0/0/30 GS+Rifle and he was a roamer and hit like a 10 ton truck….
As you said, you only tested it in hot joins. I’m not going to say warriors are weak. But your build is glass cannonish, with a few minor adjustments to survivability. The problem is, your still to focused on GC to be good at either.
When you play a bit higher lvl pvp, your going to need balanced stance if you want to continue being glass. Personally, last stand is a trait not worth it at all if your going glass IMO. You get stunned or knocked down before it activates, but you still get the initial stun/KD. Thats enough to kill you right there when you’re so glassy. The remaining time you have to live often won’t be enough to down your opponent. Balanced stance as a move can counter this.
The other traits in defense won’t optimize your build IMO. Defy Pain is ~ok, but conditions will still eat you alive at 25% health. Armored Attack is not really worth it when your toughness is that low. Adrenal health is good, because you will have a lot of adrenaline usually (GS burst skill sucks ass, and rifle is too slow to ever use it in PVP other then trolling people). Dogged March is awesome, but I always feel it has to be combined with -condition duration food and melandru to really shine. Food is not an option, and you want Lyssa for the condi remove (good choice IMO). Thick Skin is just aweful overall.
You see where this is going right? Towards the standard 20/20/0/0/30 GS build. It is the standard for a reason. It is impossible right now to create a warrior balanced between survivability and damage, because we can only adequately achieve damage.
That being said, having fun in hot join is possible. The 10 points you put in def right now I’d take out and put in strength to get Berserker’s Power. Not only will your damage increase, but you can remove blinds with a dodge (dodge counts as an attack, which you’ll usually miss anyway, but it will remove a blind because of it being an attack).
Even though you said you didnt wan’t to change the 0/25/20/0/15, I’d still take out another 5 points from defense and put it into discipline for mobile strikes. A vital trait on any GS build really. Replace either bull’s or bolas with balanced stance and you still have your stability, but on demand (and you can reliably stun break with it, not relying fully on frenzy to do that).

FYI Last stand works properly since the last balance patch, It activates and prevents first CC. It’s actually a really good trait now.

Last Stand is really awesome now, i suggest to try it to everyone, it block the first CC! so you dont even have to bother with balanced stance, BUT it have a huge problem as a trait, if u have it and u use Balanced Stance, it will activate the 90 seconds ICD for the trait, so if i want more stability dolyak signet is the best option imo. (46 seconds cd).
I find bolas to be situational, sometimes is almost useless and is really hard to use, so dolyak signet is better maybe…
As for the 20-20-0-0-30, i’ve made a post about that build, i’ve received only hate from the whiners of this forum saying i’ll die super fast… i know that build is awesome, but it need support from the team cause is too squishy, it maybe look poor but 30 points in defense really make the difference and i’m able to escape almost always when things go bad.
I think is matter of role, the role of a death machine 20-20-0-0-30 is to kill super fast and retreat, with this build i cant do the same dmg, but i survive better and i’m stronger in 1v1 due to the sustain.
I really suffer against mesmers, enginers and thieves, my lack of AoE and Mobile Strikes really make the difference with this 3 classes, but i’m able to win duels against guardians, necro, warriors and eles, sometimes with rangers too.
What do you do against mesmers and engies in 1v1?
You learn every day, thanks for the info about last stand. Completely missed it.
Then, STILL, I’d put only 15 in defense and use the other 15 points for the mentioned Berserker’s power and the dodge attack, as well as mobile strikes. Take balanced stance. The advantage stance has over the trait, is that you can choose to eat a knockdown or stun if you so desire. Instead of having 8 secs of stability when you may not need it after the initial stun.
As far as mesmers go… Mobile strikes is very important against them. Whirlwind can take out the clones, especially when they run towards you (for a shatter), because you evade for 3/4 seconds. But honestly, we are at a huge disadvantage against a well played mesmer in sPvP. In WvW it gets better.
Engineers, well, you will need stability and condition cleansing against them. Try and AoE the kitten out of their turrets. If you can’t, stay ranged a bit with rifle until your CD’s are done. Like with a mesmer, or a ranger, or a necro, ignoring the adds your opponent spawns is a mistake. They often use adds because they traited them to be strong. Take them out, and you gain momentum.
