If this post sounds rage-y, it’s because I am a bit ticked off.

I have one toon for each of the 9 classes, and as the map expands and the story continues, I like to do map completion on each of them.

Now suddenly I’ve hit this wall, and it’s really making me mad.

Zerker Druid solo? Check
Knight’s Daredevil solo? Check
Zerker Elementalist solo? Check
Condi Mesmer solo? Check
Condi Reaper solo? Check
Zerker DragonHunter solo? Check

Knight’s Berserker solo? FAIL
Ventari’s Berserker solo? FAIL

In fact, I can’t even survive the entrance area tot he Svanir Hive on my own. Any more than 3 mobs and I’m as good as dead.

After 5000+ hours, I’d like to think that I know a little bit about how to play the game, especially since my first world completion back in the first year of GW2 was on my Warrior with rare armor and an exotic hammer.

Overall the time it takes on my Berserker to kill a single standard Svanir mob (not vet) is probably 2 to 3 times as long as it takes on any other class (3 to 4 when in the Ventari’s gear).

Is Warrior just extremely weak on DPS? Is the class changed so much that it is no longer viable solo?

Where are my gem sales? I want gem sales! Nerf EVERYTHING!

uhh, i’d like to think that warriors are in a pretty good spot at the moment in terms of dps. Headbutt → berserk → arc divider →100b → arc divider → whirlwind attack → rush → etc etc

rolling at the start, keep your endurance not full for the 10% dmg boost too. you can do this like every 20 seconds, I find that i kill the fastest on my warrior.

I also played from day 1, on and off but warrior is the class i always fall back into.

Dunno man, full berserker warrior just rofl stomps pve. Just run the standard defence/discpline/berserker and press #1-5 in any rotation

Personally in PvE I run strength (2-2-1) arms (2-2-2) Berserker (1-1-1) with all signets sans elite (running headbutt) and I breeze through everything, even with all zerker gear. Best defense is an unstoppable offense I suppose.

In what aspect of pve is defense discipline berserker the standard? I don’t think a pvp build is the best suggestion to give to somebody failing in pve.

Defense, Discipline, Berserker is good in all situations. It has plenty of damage especially with GS and Full Zerk, and plenty of sustain. I’ll admit it’s not optimized for PVE, but when you are out healing pretty much everything, and cleaving through them with unlimited bursts, and ignoring the most powerfull attacks coming your way, its hard to die, and therefore hard to fail.

I didnt say its standard for pve but My point is that you shouldn’t really have issues in pve unless you’re in green/gold armour or doing raids/high end fractals. Full berserker stats does enough dmg alone with out traits so going defence line won’t matter a thing but has a lot of defence/sustain for pve so picking this is a no brainer. What build would suggest then?

It’s only not-standard because PvE buildcrafters have made the assumption that players don’t take notable damage.

If the OP is failing, it’s reasonable to assume that the OP is taking significant damage, which means running the total glass that meta recommends would be worse for the OP.

PvP builds would do the OP good because they give the OP defensive and sustain capabilities.

It’s not that the zerker build just doesn’t magically not work for some people as it does others. It does require a more proactive playstyle in mitigating your own damage. Knowing when to dodge, when to CC, etc etc are factors. If you want to be the type of player to charge through a pack of mobs and 100b them down without thinking, then yeah you may want to pick up a defense line or tankier gear. But I know for me personally, I prefer to mow down mobs faster than they can kill me, which would require the aforementioned dodging and CCing when and where necessary. To be honest I’ve always leveled every character (when i level legitimately, not with tomes) i always stuck with the pure offense builds because I wanted to learn how to survive with them without needing passive mitigation via traits/gear. And so far I’ve not really come across something in open world PvE that has changed that mindset for me.

Anyways I suppose the point being, when the OP asks “wth am i doing wrong” I wouldn’t first assume it’s traits that need changing, but playstyle.

The same is happening to me kinda, i am using the burnzerker build or condition with vipers. Anyway i am no expert in warrior, i just gear mine for this like 2-3 days ago (all my other characters are pure damage so why not make one condi) but i am dying a lot, way more than on my thief or any other squishy class. No idea what i am doing wrong, maybe is the heal skill, i am using the rage one which turn ur damage into heal, maybe i am not doing enough dmg and dont heal me that much. No idea what is wrong but seriously i suck with it, even 2-3 mobs kill me.

Also on a side note is it ok in open world to substitute tactics for discipline? Tactics traits are mostly good for group play and since i play open world, alone mostly. Not like discipline bring anything to the table either, just the 25% movement speed increase lol.

Well, the first thing to note is that condi in open world just doesn’t perform as well as your typical zerker build. Condis have a ramp up time, which means you’ll often end up spending more time killing mobs than usual, though you may fare better on higher health targets like champions or on large packs of mobs. To be honest I save the condi builds for more organized play. Fractals, raids, etc.

As for the healing skill, I typically stick with healing signet. While the zerker heal has potential to do a lot of healing, you’re usually just trading off the damage your taking with the healing you’re doing. You have to be hitting multiple mobs to see a significant heal from it, and in open world usually that means you’re also tanking them. It’s also a nice little dps increase, but still, not really worth it in PvE. Signet is undoubtedly one of the best healing skills in the game. The active heal is meh, but it can save your kitten . Resistance on activation is amazing for just ignoring conditions while you smash things to death. And the passive heal is just amazing. I’d stick with that.

As for traits, you can run anything and get away with it, but as I mentioned further up the post, I personally prefer Strength, Arms, Zerker. It’s the typical fractal/raid build just with tactics swapped for arms. I also run all signets sans elite which is always headbutt. Dolyak signet is especially good for open world imo. Stun break as well as a bunch of stability on use, and when not using it you get a passive damage reduction. Signets of might and fury are usually best when left alone, but it doesn’t hurt to pop them when you’re dealing with a lot of minions for the signet mastery trait. Tons of free damage and some decent situational utility.

OP,
I’d like to suggest something very easy.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJEQRAsX8fnckCtki9kCWhAElilqATpHE7yBILuGQA4t0uajtA-ThhAQBVT9nrp8DG7PAtTCQNVCCgnAAA-e

This is a very cheep to get started build. It’s Also extremely fun and effective. You can Swap out Last Blaze for smash brawler, And the Rage skills for stances and healing signet if you need too have more sustain and the build is still very good in PVE.

Usage

  • Start on Sword/Torch
  • Pop your heal.
  • Pop Torch 5
  • Swap
  • Pop Axe 5 and LOL at the burn stacks.
  • Enter Berserk
  • Burst, Burst, Swap, Burst
  • Torch 4
  • Rage Skills
  • Repeat all steps

Forget what you heard about Conditions requiring ramp up. Burning starts to hurt immediately. and you’ll be spreading your burning across all mobs nearby. The build is extremely fun to play. Mobs are not smart enough to clear your conditions, so you can just roll over most enemies.

Condis by definition have ramp up time. Unless your first hit starts at your maximum stack potential, then that’s a ramp up time. Some classes manage the ramp up time better than others. I’d still consider condi warrior to be a solid fractal/raid build but wouldn’t run it in open world. Of course, played right, any build or literally no build can do fine in open world, so as I was saying before, it comes down to how well you manage mechanics.

Well, you really don’t tell us what you’re doing so it’s hard to know what you’re doing wrong. However you are putting defensive gear on your war and then complaining it doesn’t kill as fast as your zerker fit alternatives, so… I’d start with that.

Go with full zerker power greatsword spec. Your health pool is giant by default, which basically IS your defense. Other classes have more active mitigation/dodges, war is pretty much just “kill it fast” before your health buffer runs out.

My go-to open world right now is strength 2-2-1, tactics 3-3-2, berserker 1-1-1. Healing signet, for great justice, shake it off, signet of fury, headbutt. Swap for great justice with other things as needed; outrage for more stun breaks, wild blow for more breakbar dmg, etc.

It’s basically the PS war banner build but with a swap of the banners for shouts and PS trait for vigorous shouts. Super easy to change back to standard PS/banner with just a few clicks when you come upon a world boss or group event of any kind. Banners suck for solo world since you are moving too much, plus the standard banner PS build has little stun break and no condi removal.

Option 1: Supreme Glass Cannon(very risk, but fun and challengeful, and tons of damage)

Spec: Strength + Arms + Berseker.
Runes: Rune of Strength.
Armor, Weapons e Trinkets: Berserker.
Sigils: Sigil of Force, Sigil of Strength, on GreatSword. … On Longbow sigil of of Strenght and Sigil of Bloodlust to stack the max power u can.
Food: The ones that buff u with Might. for perma 24stacks of might.
Slot Skills: Sigil of Critical, Sigil of Force, “For the Great Justice”(for semi-perma fury combined with one when u active berserker mode), Elite: Head Butt for insta adrenaline full. … The Heal Skill is very optional here, u can sigil of heal, or one of regens skills.

Option 2: Have fun with perma burn, same setup as above, but with the berserker skill that grant burn on rage skill use, and king of flames. Runes of Berserker on armor, and Sigil of Smoldering on Weapons, all elites and slot skill are rage, perma burn while also maintain big power creep.. Plus: Volcanus skin on your GS.

with these status and good group, u can reach 100% critical, insane ferocity, and 3200+ on damage stats. if u feel rich, get the power agony infusions(20g cost on average). Perma 24 stacks of might(or 18 at least), perma fury.

The downside: lack of mobility, lack of condi clean, u need rely on knowlodege of mobs encounters to avoid trapped on some letal condi atacks, and for specific situations when u need speed like Tarir MM farm, sweap arms for discipline. This build is extremy risk-reward style.

PS traitline sucks outside of specialized groups…, the 5% damage bonus from bleeding creatures from arms is better than 150 power,, the fury is as plus, and some condi dmg if u like hibrid builds.
