Or ANet could just fix this (probably) glitch and we get 3 weapons and a full armor set. Before you’d get skins almost every tournament win, now you have to do a full track. I think it evens out considering they’re exotics.

give it a chance they said…

so end of match win we used to get a box with (I never paid attention) what like 6 or 7 items (usually dupes but hey) not just from dungeons but all over, and glory.

now, we have to play for ages, do dungeons all over and in the end buy stuff to apply to existing armor/weapons we win as our supposed rewards in pvp.

lots more bloodstone/fragments/dragonite which carries no inherent gold value so theres that.

give it a try they said. we think you’ll like it they said.

think maybe they were referring to someone else other than ppl who actually played pvp. :S

This takes a while to do so it may not be worth it, you can craft Toxic Stones/Oils/Crystals using bloodstone dust and sell them on the TP.

Anet likely didn’t want to remove the armor stats entirely because…well,
we’ve all seen what happens in games where there’s no disadvantage to taking your pants off.

Easy fix then: rotate the weapon boxes and the armor boxes on the reward track and thus you end up with
3 armor pieces and 1 weapon for 1 full track or
2 full tracks = 6 pieces + enough tokens for the last 2 pieces + 2 weapons.

Hey everyone,

This is a wording bug not a content issue. The design behind the dungeon tracks was that players would need to run the track multiple times to get the entire set of weapons and armor.

19 – weapons
18 – pieces of armor (6 light, 6 medium, and 6 heavy)

Upon completing a track you will get 3 weapons and 1 piece of armor all your choice including stat combo. Upon running the track multiple times you are able to either save tokens for legendary or use tokens to speed the process up of getting the full weapons/armor set you are working towards.

The fact the text says “set” is a mistake that we are going to update soon. Any other questions just let me know.

Is it intended to take anywhere from 40-70 hours to get a full set of the armor, especially when comparing it with the relative ease of acquiring it in PvE?

Assuming 10-20 minute runs, it takes only about 5-6 hours in PvE to acquire the set using the daily reward bonus.

But we only need 2-3 (aquatic) weapons, and 6 armor pieces. Why aren’t we getting 3 armor pieces per track and one weapon at the end? It’s only logical because then it would take a total of 2 completes to get all of the pieces you need for one character.

I agree. 3 armor pieces and 1 weapon piece would be more logical. These are weapons and armors that most people want to use for their alt characters. I doubt there are any people who collect dungeon armors just like minipets or whatever.

I personally have no idea what to do with all those weapons. But I could definitely use way more armor pieces.

Thought.

You will finish getting all the weapons you want well before you get all the armor pieces you want.

What might be ideal is to allow you to get either a weapon or an armor piece where you can only now get weapons UPON repeating the line. That would make it far better for second + attempts.

Ok, so it was a mistake, but it was a mistake you made in all fairness.
Players spent a lot of time working on getting a “set”

Anyway, you could allow it to be a full set this time and in the future, now that it is clear, make it individual pieces (and maybe consider changing weapons for armor as a previous poster mentioned)?

Think of it as a kick off for PvP!

Thank you for the reply! I was SURE this was a bug – good to know that it’s actually working as intended.

I agree with the other posters above me. The balance of the reward seems off. Weapon’s have a higher value (180-330 tokens for armor, 210-390 for weapons) and you simply don’t need as many weapons as you do pieces of armor to complete a character. If I’m collecting armor, it makes more sense for me to go do dungeons (3-5.5 runs).

A full set sounded like a perfect reward to me. What would be the point of repeating then? 1. Collect skins of other weight classes, 2. Collect armor for alts, 3. Obtain different stat combinations, 4. Salvaging!))

  1. They made PvP a replacement for PvE within the moment, the unified the skins. If you have to wear “PvE” items in PvP, it there should be similar effective ways to get the stuff via PvP.
  2. Wtf is PvE armor for you? The DELETED PvP armors, so basicly every armor is PvE. And why would sth be more fun, just because of you make it more grindy.

I also don’t know how long it took to design those reward tracks, but in my opinion, they aren’t well thought at all.
Arah and CoF show, that it makes no sense to make the progess in all reward tracks similar fast.
Nobody who owns a pve char will probably ever do the CoF track, as the time it consumes is a multiple of the time it takes to get the same stuff via a dungeon.

I thought I was working towards a set, when in reality I’m working towards a bunch of salvages and one piece of armor. This is not nearly as good as the old way it worked, when I could beat a tournament and get a bunch of armor/weapons whereas now I need to do 50 SoloQ tournaments (on average) to get one piece of armor and 3 weapons. I think it’s kind of weird that weapons, which are pretty much always more expensive than armor, occur three times in the track, while armor appears 1 time in the track. It may be worth swapping those around; someone might be able to have every weapon variety available to their class before they have a full set of dungeon gear, including spending the line’s token rewards on armor pieces.

Thanks for dropping in, too.

Getting that in PvE takes 1380 tokens. You get 60 per run per path once a day, else it’s 20. Running one path can take anything from 1-4 hours, depending on the path and how routinized you are.

So we’re talking 23 multi-hour runs of the hardest dungeon in the game, that you guys want to substitute with 10 hours of pvp?

The ascended mats suck.

  1. They flood your inventory
  2. You cant make money out of them
  3. Ok, we get ascended ats. But how are pvp players supposed to get to crafting lvl 450? The mats you get are far to less to properly level up a crafting profession. And NO I’m not promoting more mats

If the final number of weapons and armor are so close, why not just make it so you get 2 pieces of armor and 2 weapons from each tract? Because right now with your math we are going to end up with a huge redundant pile of 40+ weapons in order to complete all of the sets of armor.

Or how about when we get to one of the 4 reward boxes in the tract we can choose either a weapon or armor box?

Dude… Ever played GW1? Its the exact same system (not the tracks the armors for pvp) they give you a VERY SMALL amount of armors.. And if you want to look pretty, pve for a short amount of time. I don’t believe it has ever been expected before GW2 to look prettier by PvPing. They’re going down the normal path. Want to look pretty, go PvE! Want to just PvP? We’re not stopping you! Go for it! Want to look pretty and PvP? Awesome! Use the money you get (which is alot) from PvPing and buy some skins.

I don’t get why the hell all of you guys are complaining about something so trivial?

Okay I get it.. They’re not awarding you infinite lives, a magic flute that’ll get you to zhitan, or a tank when you press certain buttons .. But a game is about the journey, if you don’t want to work for accomplishments, MMORPGs are not for you. Getting rewarded for PvPing, is an extra thing to reward the PvPers for doing what they were going to do anyways, kill people.. Virtually speaking.

So 20 runs at an hour a piece is 20 hours. (If you don’t get any of the Bags of Wondrous goods, which add up), and at 1.5% per match, and 10 minutes per match it will take you 11 hours and 6 minutes to max one reward track. We also don’t get the 3 gold you get every run, so I’d say the 60 gold you’ll get is worth 5 hours of time. It should take closer to 15 hours IMO, as we were going a little too fast on the progression but now it will take us much longer than it would take you. Now if we have to do it 6 times we will end up spending triple the amount of time it would take you to get the armor in Arah, and all we get for it is a few shots at a precursor.

Have you ever set foot in PvE?

1) There are 2 paths that take 1 hour to complete with a very good party. The others are at least 2 hours. Running every arah path 5 times is closer to kitten hours than 20, if not more.
2)These runs are limited to 1 per day, meaning you have to wait at least 5 days before you get your armor. You can finish a reward track in one day easily.
3) You forgot the thousands of tokens worth of dungeon weapon skins that you get in the process in pvp.
4)You mention the loot in dungeons, but completely ignore the fact that you get a decent amount of rewards and gold from the tracks too, by salvaging the exotics, opening champ bags, etc. Not to mention the mystic clovers and obi shards.
5)Part of the pvp reward is rank points, which you don’t get in PvE
6)If CoF is only 12 minutes for 120 tokens and you need the armor so badly, then run it. But keep in my how it’s not 12 minutes for 120 tokens due to being limited to once per day. Also it gives 1 gold, not 2.

You are also forgetting the fact that many pvp’ers have their lockers and dungeon armors almost all unlocked because they already had a “wardrobe” in pvp. PvE’ers ave to run every dungeon again.

Bottom line is: You got a lot from this patch, PvP and PvE are different, PvP rewards are fine, stop complaining

The majority of players have never completed all four Arah paths let alone done so in 10-20 minutes. That’s crazy hyperbole. There is a handful of groups who run fine tuned speed clears of dungeons that can complete some paths in a short amount of time, but they would make up less than 1% of the total GW2 population. No-one is acquiring sets of Arah in 5-6 hours of PvE, certainly not their first set (you also downplay how significant the daily time gate on dungeons is, especially noteworthy when sPvP only has a time gate on hot-joins). Acquiring Arah armour in PvE (outside of buying runs) requires some player ability (it is arguably the most difficult dungeon in the game). Acquiring Arah armour in sPvP simply requires turning up, you don’t even have to win.

Arah armour is one of the most elite armour sets in the game (one of the few that used to represent player skill) and players are able to farm it while losing, the current system is actually quite generous all things considered.

Well, the news that it’s just one piece of armour instead of a set has pretty much killed my incentive to finish these dungeon tracks. :p

On the flip side, these dungeon tracks are by far the best way to get dungeon weapons.

Very true. Just wish I’d known before I started on the god awful ugly Arah ones. :p

Although, this way if you don’t want to do said dungeon you don’t have to.. but it wouldn’t make much sense to make PvP a replacement for PvE, and I don’t think that’s their intentions. I hope they make it hard as hell to get PvE armor through PvP. It makes the ride more fun.

Dude… No, I didn’t play GW1.
But have you ever played GW2 PvP before April 15th?
Before the patch, the amount of skins you could get from PvP was probably 2-3 times as much, as it is now with the dungeon tracks.

And you definitifly don’t get “A LOT” of money out of PvP.

Also don’t keep talking crap about “the journey” or “working for accomplishments”. Even in PvE you don’t get dungeon stuff via “the journey”. You have to farm the dungeon until you have your stuff. And do you rly think PvP is easier than PvE? Dungeons usually don’t change. CoF p1 etc. will always be the same, no matter how often you do it. But in PvP, the teams you fight changes. Bosses don’t adapt your playstyle or try to counter it, the enemies in PvP do.
If you rly think, farming dungeons is harder work than playing pvp, then you do sth. wrong. Or maybe, the only image of PvP you have is WvW Karma train or playing 10 vs. 10 Hot Join Zerg.

Your last argument also doesn’t make sense. PvPers are killing ppl anyways, so they don’t need rewards? What about the PvE side? Those wouldn’t do dungeons, bosses and events anyways?

EDIT: And the hour per run is just with Arah. CoF, SE, etc. don’t take an hour per run, they’ll take you maybe 20 minutes per run and so you’ll end up taking longer with PvP than you would with dungeons even if you got the full set.

1. Yes, so only do those paths. That’s what I did when I wanted my dungeon armor. The dungeons force you to take breaks whereas PvP doesn’t. That’s why it seems so much shorter.
2. Already discussed. Just because the game makes you take breaks doesn’t mean it takes.
3. The thousands of tokens are pretty worthless when you already have them. Why would I want 18 weapons skins? I’d get at most 4 mystic forges out of that.
4. I’ll rephrase your question to you: Have you set foot in PvP? You don’t get a fair amount of gold from PvP. From SoloQ you only get around 30 silver if you win, which you could make much faster in a dungeon or on a champ farm (this coming from a dungeon farmer)
5. How do rank points even come into this? They aren’t a reward, they’re a way of measuring how long you spent in PvP, much like levels are in PvE.
6. Except it is, 120 tokens in 12 minutes, just with a 24 hour cooldown every 6 minutes. That’s why it seems like it takes forever. And it is 2 gold because 120 tokens is 2 paths, which is 2 gold. And then, you can run the path again afterword and get 20 tokens, so 15 minutes for 60 tokens is 345 minutes to get a full set of armor, or 5.75 hours, still much shorter than it would take us.

Bottom line is we lost a lot from this patch. I used to get 3-5 skins for every tournament I won, now I’ll be lucky to get a couple dungeon skins for every 33 tournaments (33 wins is 99%, so just over that). PvP rewards are not fine if you only use them in PvP. Exotic stats don’t make a difference in PvP, so now because they carry over to PvE we are forced to progress much, much, slower. Arah takes much longer yes, but other dungeons do not, and so because of the fact ANet has tried to make getting dungeon armor in PvP take as long as it would in PvE (and take a uniform amount of time.) we are forced to progress at the speed of doing Arah, which pretty much makes them useless.

Today i made 25% of Arah progression and i can’t progress further. Is there a limit per day? Second thing is can i progress another tier when i started another one? I changed to Balthazar and i see no progression after won rounds.
Do i need to complete story mode of Arah dungeon to continue progressing?

Thx for answers in advance

There’s a limit in hotjoin/custom arena’s. You can only do two tiers per day in those. If you want to progress further you’ll have to do Tpvp (soloq/teamq)

10-20 Minute arah runs? O.o That is likely best case scenario experienced zerker speed clear groups with 2 warrs 2 eles and one mes…..

This is true. And it speaks volumes to how imbalanced the rewards are in this game. If people in PvP care ONLY about skins the amount of time ti takes to get said skins should take slightly less time than pve considering there is no real in game bonus for these skins like stats or the ability to swap stats. … pvp legendaries should take very little time to acquire compared to pve however this “skin” will not have any legendary stats should the player play pve. And they can work something out to upgrade it if the player actually did pve…. However it seems that a legendary is going to be easier to acquire in pve still. ..

Just make stuff easier to aquire via PvP also is no proper solution.
Otherwise, PvE players would complain, or start to farm PvP.

A proper solution might be, to make a far bigger progress increase in the reward tracks, if you win.
In addition, it might also depend (for the arenas) to tie the progress with the “MMR” of the Match.
PvE gets easier, the better you get. But given proper Matchmaking, PvP wont. So the winners of the battle between Team Ladder Nr. 1-10 should progress more in the tracks than the winners of 2 teams which players having 30%.
