I would say bunkers have countered conditions since the beginning. (no intention here to start a flame-war)
Well this game can produce 3 skill metas.
High dps High survivability (most common setup in the meta. Many consider classes that specialize these to be OP. Namely Ele, mesmer, and thief. Many of the other classes that could produce a similar effect got nerf. Especially the 100nade)
High DPS low survivability
Condition damage
Tank
If they want this to be an Esport they have 1 year window to fix this game. If they dont it will fail sadly. They need to reduce the dps and aoe damage of everything to make the game less spammy. Right now when playing many battles play out where you just mindless trying to kill one target by spamming your skills and then use escapes if you get caught. I’d love to see more risk factor for using skills (longer CDs, casting times).
Now I can’t speak for everyone, but I came over to this game with a few GW1 PvP buddies and my arena team from WoW. None of them stayed with the PvP. They didn’t even play long enough to figure out which classes were too op, it wasn’t the skill balance that caused them to turn away. It was the skill setup. The way the boons and conditions are made, the way how the game is “a spam fest” of skills with little to no risk for using many of them (except a few utilties that have CDs, though many aren’t too long). The way how everything is AoE and that feels like a lazy setup that doesn’t require too much skill. Way too much burst in the game with no dedicated healing or holy trinity to help counter these burst builds.
Whether you agree with this or not, this game from a group of players that played 9/10 MMO pvp system. WoW, Champions Online, Swtor, etc. They tried it at some time. This was the only game I ever saw all of them except for maybe one not counting me stop playing within the first month. It was sad.
Thats the point. They are/have removing/ed the high damage low survivability builds. The only thing left is bunker and conditions. And since conditions counter bunkers everyone is just gonna go conditions because there aren’t many high dps builds anymore besides thief.

Overall power dps went down a notch, conditions went up a notch. Agree.
Warriors are being hit two times, losing out on power dps, and watching the meta shift in a direction thats even worse for them.
condition characters based on tf have disappeared because the bunkers meta works around ele and shout guard, both clean conditions to allies and this hurt they so much, but conditions still been the problem of bunkers in 1vs1, these is why some ppl says that bunkers counter conditions and others says the opposite, both have some points
