Why wasn’t solo arena just random in the first place? We don’t have enough people playing at once to keep the matches MMR balanced, it always ends up with volatile groupings. While I know players wanted MMR in team arena, team arena =/= solo arena.

Good to hear Team Arena ratings reset as well. I have 59% there and never played Team Arena. Only solo queued and the old rating from old system back then was copy pasted without thinking(should have started new).

as counted right now: there are 5 on EU and 2 on NA servers in top 50 with 800+ games. so you mean whats left for 8 people worldwide? i guess the same thing with all the other thousands: nothing – stick with it and calm down!

There are many players with 200-300 + games and i mean the ones who made it into top ratings and didnt exploit should get something as recognition.

You tell to calm down when qualifying points was a much more unfair system and that people still got a title to show.

Yes 800 is not the usual number.
More accurately 200-300 games players who didnt rely on decay and achieved a legit rating by winning top rated matches with their ~60 percentage.
I dont know but if they gave on qualifying point system who had no matchmaking no rating and no win percentage they could give something for our better system…

why dont u guys do something about decay instead of resetting ? same mistake will be repeated, someone is gona make to rank 1 and just sits there.

By resetting, what you are doing you guys will bring back ‘some’ players back to pvp and once they got to top rank and just sits there, and not play.

Are you guys trying to bring back some players to play by resetting leaderboard?

If you guys are, why dont you like have a seasons for tpvp just like wvw?

That should keep the pvp community up may be ?

anyway something to consider for the future.

As much as I hate to say this, I believe the WoW Arean season system is the way to go. Having something to aim for every few months (titles/gear/ranks) knowing that you have a new chance every reset encourages more people to participate in tpvp…rather than jsut for the champion titles.

Gw2 tpvp is very balanced right now in terms of 5v5, but unfortunately the lack of motivation to want to progress as a player (to gain rewards) is rather lacking, especially for someone who is new to tpvp.

Bring in a tpvp season, ranked gear and titles and you have a very healthy pvp community/system. Because the pvp gameplay/balance is fine, the pvp system is not.

Just my two cents

Yea balance is in a wearable state.
Of course it is not perfect and there are many things that need to be addressed.
But releasing the reward system soon is important for motivation to pve and pvp players

But…
Please don’t give any kind of rewards for top rank players…
I want this because you would mostly reward the wrong people. A lot of the top tir acc are inactive or secound acc. Obviously you would also reward a lot of decent players!
And the matchmaking so far put players on low rank, even if they play decent. I played on two acc recently, so i guess the players on both acc’s (me) have the same skill-level. As is startet this, my main acc was in ladder around rank 900 and the other acc was on 90%. I played my main most of the time in the morning (europe!), i was very often matched up against top 200 players, which i know from my top 100 time… the result was, that i dropped down to 90% on my main. The reason for this matchups is that in the morning less players are playing and high ranked players are matched up with other high ranked players against lower ranked players. This is because of the long waiting times during the morning.
On the other hand the other acc was at first played during the prime time and went up to rank 500+. This was because in the evening the matchups are more fair, because more players are playing!
But now the interesting part… to test my theory about the matchmaking working as described above i startet to play the second acc in the morning! Theory says: Im around top 500 so im matched up with the good guys…
Reality says: I was indead matched up with other players with high rating and went up to top 250…

So PLEASE no rewards for top tir players because matchmaking is not fair! If people are only able to play in the morning they will never have a chance to get into the high ranks.

If you want to reward titels or anything else, please do what you are doing atm in wvw… make a season! If you do this everyone knows at wich point in time there will be rewards! It would be like christmas! Everyone knows the date when the presents are given
And noone has the stupid idea to start playing a new class, which he might not be familiar with… because this would prevent him from dropping in the ladder before christmas…

Just take a look at the top teams, and you should remember most of them f.e. from the weekly esl tournaments. (f.e. Cheese Mode, WGCH, CC, Eclipse, Warbear, TFL, No Life)

they earned also a lot of tourney chests and fame. and i know esp that cheese mode is syncing in soloq. so only my experience tells me that in the esl are teams that not deserve anything for abusing and exploiting. im not jealous, i just know that atm the position on the board dont means anything. as tranessa pointed out, it all depends at what time u play.

if u would read the announcements carefully, u will notice that 1 reason for the reset is to see if seasons are possible. until then talking about a reward is unnecessary. i see more a greedy reason to ask for rewards.

For good teams it will be no problem to climbe up the ladder again and get rewards in a season based setup. The difference is, that it will be known that there are rewards coming (christmas!) and everyone can prepare for that. But at the moment the matchmaking and also the ladder are to broken to actually reward anything, imo. (Mainly focusing on soloQ here, but it is no secret that u can also farm wins in teamQ during night and at morning – ty hooma to point out that this is also possible during late night)

There are more players in top 100 who should get a reward for soloq then ppl who abused the spvp system. Also the Qualiypointsystem nearlly 1 year ago was just a joke and top 100 players get rewards. So why not now?

Now I need to get tons of losses because if imbalanced matches this causes. It apparently matches you against much stronger people now when you really would be lower.

The leaderboard change with the decay change does not affect your mmr. The only change in SoloQ you should notice is the new team shuffel, which should lead to more balanced teams (average amount of mmr from each should now be almost the same, former there was a difference between the team you faced).

Actually for me it is more unbalanced now. When the enemy team is winning much more easily and with bigger points differents against my team then I don’t think it is more balanced. (Before the change more there were more closer matches 4xx vs 500).

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the changes! I didn’t get much of a chance to play tonight myself, but hopefully I can get some games in tomorrow. Sitting at 274 right now – hopefully I can crack top 200 in the next few days.

This is definitely a huge improvement. I had 10 great matches tonight and actually enjoy que’ing now instead of wondering if the match will be hugely lopsided. I can feel that my individual play matters now, since teams are generally balanced.

Im pretty sceptical if this will be a good solution. Feels like the worst player in a match will decide about win or loss, not the best, because theres no way to compensate a completly lost player in a 5on5.

Besides that, the arguments against rewards in here are a freaking joke. Everything in this game gets rewarded, even skyhammer famers for jumping into death…
But people who played HUNDREDS of hours in SQ/TQ shouldnt get any reward because 2% of the leaderboard players abused the system??? Hilarious!

So far so very good. The matches last night were competitive, and people for the most part were trying to win the game as opposed to playing a solo hero.

Only had time to play two soloQ matches, but so far things are looking up. EU non-prime time (around 5-6 pm CET) in the 200-300 bracket, things seem nicely balanced. Both teams had one clearly inexperienced player, but since they were distributed evenly, matches stayed very close. Both games ended within 50 points. Had this been the old team-building algorithm, the stacked team would have steamrolled the other, as the rosters would have effectively been 5vs3.

Good job Anet. Now it’s time to revamp the PvP incentive system.
