As I’m sure many agree, Lyssa are undoubtedly the strongest runes for PvP, shadowing almost all other possible runes when paired with a short cooldown elite.

Personally I think a good fix would be to split the rune in two, having a variable which provides a full condi cleanse and another which provides all boons.

I believe the duration of the boons may need to be altered slightly in order to match up with other rune selections.

What are your thoughts?

I don’t use lyssa. I prefer Ogre or Eagle on a thief, which I mostly play now. On a warrior lyssa is strong with Signet of Fury (which I think is where most of the Lyssa hate comes from). I haven’t found the rune set to stand out as the best moreso than than other runes on the main professions I play in PvP which are Guardian, Mesmer, Ele, or Thief.

its not a big problem all class got elite 60+ seconds CD
only thief got an elite with 45sec CD
and lyssa is a precision/cond duration rune with a random boon on heal use
it’s a rune set for crit build, i played it on mesmer first time but i changed it for a 4xogre’s rune +2x flock rune its more fun to see a ogre dog and a swarm of birds casted on enemy

It shines on thief if using sword/dagger thief, mesmer (as no mesmer runs anything but mass invisibility in serious matches) and on DPS guardians.

Elementalist has no short cooldown elite and thus naturally is fairly useless. Dagger/Pistol thief is one of the few that drop Lyssa runes as your build is based more around spike potential than the survival which Lyssa provides, which makes ogre and scholar far more favourable.

Not every profession uses Lyssa, but those that do have no real alternatives because of how potent Lyssas effects are.

The CD on the 6th piece effect should be increased to 100 secs at least.

Stability for a free stomp every 45 seconds, protection, a FULL CONDI CLEAR and aegis is not good? These allow you to overextend heaps past where you should be, hit sig of rage and then just disengage.

People keep making the same arguments and ignoring the same points. Lyssa’s is a runeset that packs 90% of worth into 5 seconds every 45-60 seconds. Yes those 5 seconds are strong, but missing out on stats/effects that would be helpful with 100% uptime is one tradeoff among many.

I like that discussions like this exist.

The way that traits can be built and tweaked, a large portion of stats adjusted between amulets and their jewels, and the even more detailed finer adjustments with runes and sigils…it’s awesome to me.

When it comes to Lyssa runes, they maybe a strong choice for a couple of classes ( mesmers, thieves, and at times necro ), but they are not the de facto rune set for all classes. Personally, I like to build my characters with team play in mind, and Lyssa runes don’t offer that. I think pack runes provide more benefit overall for both the player and the team with the aforementioned classes ( depending on build of course ). As mentioned before, divinity runes and ogre runes are strong contenders as well.

And then there are other classes. You mentioned the condition removal every 45 seconds being OP. Does that make Soldier runes on a shout bunker guardian OP? Almost equal, if not better, in condition removal, plus added boons from shouts, all usable on demand and exactly when needed…not on a 45 second cooldown, all boons blown at once, and for only 5 seconds.

To further continue my appreciation the finer adjustments with rune sets and sigils. Depending on the character and build, I find a split rune set of Lyssa and Nightmare amazing with condi builds: 183 condition damage and 20% duration, just from the runes.

Either which way, if people want get hung up on single cookie cutter builds and runesets, that is their choice. I would strongly encourage exploring the diversities of professions, builds, and stat combos…because there is way more to this game than 1v1 min maxing.

Lyssa has a 60s internal CD so under 60s doesn’t mean kitten.
Thief, necro (charge on a 36s CD), guardian (instant invuln on 90s CD fully cleansing is amazing), warrior (signet).
At least off the top of my head.

Believe it actually has a 45 second ICD? I have seen requests from people wishing it to be raised to 60 seconds.
