Why must u be 18 to participate in this e-sports stuff i mean srsly common common. If its a maturity thing i can assure Anet that all of the 18 and unders in gw2 are well known for being kind and respectful players

If you mean the All Stars tournament or whatever it’s called it’s probably because they’re doing it live at a convention so you have to be able to travel there alone, stay in a hotel room alone etc.

Rules on that will vary, but with a few exceptions if you’re 18 it’s allowed so it’s a simple way to cover it.

To avoid a lot of legal complications and exceptions, using 18 as a minimum age cuts the bureaucracy on running a tournament involving international travel, cash prizes and company responsibility by a lot.

If all participants are over 18 ANet can have them all sign contracts stating that the company is not liable, nor responsible, to anything outside of lodging, travel and accommodation and that the participants are personally responsible for their actions and can answer for anything they do.

It’s pretty simple really, ANet doesn’t want to act as anyone’s legal guardian, because a lot of kitten can happen.

I am the best player in this game. I am 16, I turn 17 in November. My mommy can sign a waver, and I can bring an adult with me as a legal guardian to the event. I have a valid passport and I can speak Mandarin at a semi fluent level. WTF
