gap closers
All the while engies just stare at other classes running around with their gap closers in envy. Engies got very screwed in that department.

Yep, waaaay too clunky gap closers for engies.
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
Engi’s must have a real hard on when watching Thieves. I think every skill they have on their bar is a gap closer in some way. Because near perma-stealth and high burst just isn’t enough.
Do they need gap closers though (besides bomb builds)?

Engi’s don’t have gap closers because they have some amazing CC…. Possibly best in Game IMO…. Toolkit 5, big ole bomb, Pry Bar (this order because of the amount of time it takes to go off.) Then you have a knock back from the flame thrower, shield, and rifle (not all same build I know)
Edit: Sorry Tool Kit 5 is a gap closer (by being a pull)… Beyond that aside from bomb kit engi’s are a very kitey type class. I was just listing a combo that i have seen to be effective.

pry bar isn’t CC. And I’m not so sure why we wouldn’t have gap closers if we have CC, that’s an entirely different ball park.. Warriors can get bolas a billion forms of CC with far more movement skills than an engi in the same build, but I wouldn’t call it OP
But personally I don’t think anything needs to change. I think that all movement skills should have a target because it mucks up class balance when roam speed becomes a factor outside of basic buffs like swiftness (which make most movement skills better).
As a condi engi all I do is kite people. I already have a lot of snares, but if they removed most classes’ gap closers then I’d feel like kitten when I 100-0 them from a mile away with absolutely no chance at catching me
@$20 an hour! It’s worth it!

I disagree, and since you already mentioned Warrior: Warrior’s ONLY way to try and disengage is to use all his gap closers in the direction opposite to enemy. The change you propose would take away our only escape tool (which can often fail anyway, if we’re crippled/chilled).

Skills from both rifle and p/p benefit from close range. So does prybar. And 100b, but you probably gonna hate me for mentioning that.

Kinda everything on Warrior benefits from being in meele range. Well, except rifle and longbow.
I wish there was alternative to 100b. Would love to see it replaced with Guardian’s GS #2. But that’s for another discussion.

I’ve never felt gap closers to be much of an issue. And I play classes with a variety of levels of mobility. I play Thief which obviously has some of the best mobility in the game (which is why I play it), I play a Guardian that has poorer mobility (but tends to defend points anyway) and Necromancer which has some of the worst mobility in the game. I also dabble with Elementalist but I’m not as good with it.
At no point while playing any of those classes do I feel like I have too much or too little mobility when taking the other features of the class into account.
As a Thief it is so necessary to have high mobility as the Thief is just so so squishy when caught out. Thieves are particularly susceptible to roots. It’s useful to know that when I’m fighting against other Thieves.
As a Guardian you don’t tend to need much mobility in the current meta but you can actually get some decent mobility via Judge’s Intervention, Sword and Greatsword.
Necromancer has arguably the worst mobility in the game. It has a few utilities and skills that improve mobility but none of those tend to be used much in competitive builds. In fact, a properly spec’d Conditionmancer has no escapes and no gap closers (except the 2 skill in Deathshroud). I never feel like I’m lacking in mobility, however.
I saw the title and remembered that bull’s charge doesnt work about 1/3 of the time.
I actually like how things are right now. I don’t think there are too many gap closers and I don’t think there are too many ways to create a gap either.
I like the idea of engineers not having any gap closers (except for magnet) but being able to put out a lot of control. Of course, most of their weapon set skills are short range and they only have one long-range kit, so it makes the job a bit tougher.
