To the DR & BP players:

I don’t follow the forums that often, so I guess I should have expected the thread to be more like troll wars. But I want to break off from the finger pointing, the blame, the whining, and all the nonsense for just a little bit here. Please indulge me.

I have been playing on Maguuma in WvW since the release of GW2. It’s the only gw2 world I’ve ever known, and I’m proud to see it rise to become a very active WvW community. (The first month or two of WvW, we were still really trying to find our ground in my opinion.) That being said, I think both of your worlds have really come far.

I think the play we saw from your worlds over the past weekend were absolutely epic. I believe few of us in Maguuma honestly expected the aggressive responses and plays that your worlds executed over the weekend. Bravo, truly.

But in terms of weekday play, we have seen very little activity from your worlds. Many of you have made posts—some clearly asking for harsh rebuttal—saying that we just like capping when you all go to sleep and that during your “prime” hours we can’t stand up against your might. But let’s be real here.

From this point on, if you advance any tier higher than us, you are going to be dealing with 24/7 populated WvW forces. The reason why we’ve been pushing aggressively up and down the past couple of tiers are because the other worlds we faced had even HIGHER numbers than we did at night time. (Yes, Maguuma is still a heavily North America populated server, despite us having awesome Aussies and a few Oceanic folk.)

We are your line in the sand right now. You go past us, you’re going to be dealing with worlds that have full WvW server queues not just on weekends, but during weekdays. Not just during the late afternoons or evenings, but throughout the night and mornings too.

That being said, Maguuma is so far from being high and mighty. We might boast about our triumphs (as the right of any victor), but I’m going to be honest here: we have struggled and got our kitten kicked more than a few times in the higher tiers, but it has made us stronger and better. We are more coordinated. We have recruited more forces. We might even be meaner now too.

As this week’s matchup is starting to draw to an end—-and I know chances are, we’re going to playing both of your worlds again in the next matchup—I just wanted to say that we were in your position once—many matchups ago. We adapted, as I know your worlds will too. I am expecting a kitten three-way starting on rematch Friday.

And one day, I expect your worlds to meet us in the top three tiers as well.

Mag’s 5th win out of 53 match ups. Totally high and mighty.

The ranking system is nothing more than a top to bottom list of servers based on WvW population; and even that is an ineffective measure with all the wanton server hopping that takes place. Server rank has nothing to do with “server skill” or any such rot.

Anyone with an IQ higher than a rock should know that EVERY server has people who are good at PvP and those who are little more than sheep to be farmed by the others.

So I have tried to complete the EB jumping puzzle almost every single day this week and have yet to do it. Is Borlis Pass just 24/7 camping it, or do I just have bad timing? I go in there at one point and there are twelve BP with arrow carts and catapaults camping the arena. I grab more people but it just doesn’t seem to matter. A little pvp in there is fun, especially towards the beginning of the puzzle. Continuously camping the end is a dick move :/

The bee thing is already slowly taking place anyway.

I dunno why we’re explaining this tbh, as it only helps you guys out in the future… Mind you, this is tip of the ice berg stuff.

Actually we killed a good 5-6 Dolyaks in a row before we entered Bay cause inner gate was down.

So I guess we did do it.

So I don’t know why you are talking about Dolyaks.

We’re talking about supply getting to keeps inside your own borderlands. Bay had, and Hills currently has, waypoint/fortified. That’s like 100 dolyaks that went through to each keep. Killing 5-6 dolyaks isn’t going to cut it. These matches last 168 hours.

At several points we had no more than 10-20 people in our BL, and owned absolutely nothing while being spawn camped. Do you think the average player thinks “lets go kill some Dolyaks going to Bay”?

I’ve only just recently gotten my commander badge (3-4 days ago) and I think I’ve chosen the perfect week for my initiation. Loved capping all of EB with nexus, erauntian and the rest of the players earlier today. Good luck to the other servers on the reset! May this coming week be as fun as the current one, and great job to our maguuma players for this whole week!

Really DR. You’re kittening about numbers, but yet how did you win all those weeks…..with NUMBERS. Let’s be honest here. You’re kitten because you’re not the winning server this week. Before today you were the Kaineng of two months ago putting your WIN all over the forums and bragging about how awesome you were in doing so. You say you don’t ZERG….but we all know EVERY server ZERGS. A zerg is a massive group of individuals mowing through an objective and I seen several tonight on your own borderlands.

You’re going to be here for another week, instead of pointing fingers and crying over spilt milk….why don’t you be the server that you started out as…the one that keeps on fighting without all the kittening about getting mowed down because you ran into your “bigger fish”.

I’d just like to say that DR, you’ve got the worst Mesmer scanners EVER. Course I didn’t have anybody to port back into your overlook while I played around with a horrible warrior from RED that wouldn’t come down to get me out in the open. And, when he finally did, I just invis’d for my little 4 secs and trolled him off the ledge to his death and laughed as I walked outta your overlook untouched.

Eh, I doubt hiding mesmers played as big of a role in lower tiers, so I can understand it. Even if it did, we have some pretty crazy mesmers.

Funny to see DR complain about being outnumbered. When was the last time they had a close match…? It’s surely been at least 9 straight wins for them, and, if I remember correctly, the last time they didn’t win by at least 100k pts was 03-10 of November. As someone who fought against the DR hordes for months thanks to the rating system failing T8 very hard, I do have to kinda roll my eyes. (Ah, defending a keep 30v2…) With that said, I don’t wish any ill on them – I just hope they can get a little bit of perspective and not give up just because they’ve hit some resistance. Remember all the “props” you used to give us Fergs? :P I think T5 seems about appropriate for them right now, although I do worry that Maguuma and/or other T4 servers should they come down may have too many people for DR to handle.

I’m not sure what you’re expecting our response to be to that. I saw more defenders after leaving the garrison than while we were capturing it. You knew for a long time that we would be attacking it.

Yes, this is exactly the same problem T4 had. There were 4 servers that were in the T3 area and they had bigger populations than the incoming/resident T4 servers. Crystal Desert massively outnumbered us and Yak’s bend just had better coverage. As was eloquently stated by more than one person, WvW population almost strictly increases as you rise in tiers…but that doesn’t seem to stop people from being rude about it. I understand their frustration but it is not the worst of their problems and it’s certainly not our fault. Something else that came to my mind just now was that even though we are being accused of PvD, it’s DR that had the highest PPT on reset night.

The pop and coverage difference isn’t that bad. The weekend was highly competitive with a very close score, including DR. It wasn’t until during the week that Mag started to take off. And since we’ve only gained one small guild since then, that indicates to me it’s more of a morale issue than anything. I expect this next reset to be competitive as well.

If you’re capable of keeping up on the weekend there’s no reason, other than dedication, for your numbers to begin thinning out as the week goes on compared to the enemies.

This, seriously. Theres a bunch of Mag players in this thread that really need to knock it off. When we went over 625 PPT yesterday I counted a grand total of 16 Devona’s Rest players in all 3 Borderlands + Eternal. There was 1x DR player in our Borderland attempting to take south supply camp for an hour yesterday when I was janitoring in South West Tower.

In Eternal there was 10 roaming between Pangloss and DR Keep. Painting the map green in circumstances like that isn’t really something to get your rocks off about. It goes without saying that you paint all of DR’s territory green when they have so few players in WvW.

At the same time, DR needs to get real and realize that it got landslided because they made a ton of mistakes.

Ex: There is no reason in this world that we should hold west keep that often, that long in your home borderland. You failed over 15 sieges that I helped defend, and a lot of that was because you had no idea what to do when the outer dropped.

The score got that way from coverage, but you made hundreds of weird decisions that I saw, and instead of chalking it all up to population, you need to rethink what you’re doing.

If you’re more comfortable in t6 that’s fine, because kain will be here soon to take the red/blue slot. If you want to stick around, though, you need to stop thinking everything got this way from coverage.

Nice video, one question the fight vs TLP/OG, I’ve been trying to find the OG players and can’t see one. Was it a thief or something. I’m not having crack at you, just trying work out who it was in the guild that’s all.

The reason Maguuma is winning is not just numbers. Look at their tactics and siege placement. We at Borliss toss siege up against a wall with 15 people standing there raining down arrows on us. They work together we have too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Also we do not commit at all! We start to take a keep it gets a little hard and the commander maps back to way point leaving people to take a camp. Maguuma always stays in a tight group when attacking and mows us down. We spread leaving a few in the front to die then they pick us off one by one. They are a more organized group with a more teamwork community simple as that. Disagree and and say whatever you want it’s the truth, we belong in the lower tiers. Darkhaven is actually a better server then us but they suffer from numbers . Flame me all you want the lack of teamwork and common sense has always been our servers problem. We beat ourselves 90% of the time.

I think BP belong in t5. There’s always room for improvement, but you guys reflected a lot of our attacks. We hit East Keep hard a lot, but you had good response times on pulling people from Eternal to stop us before we downed the inner. You also had good response to a few garrison rushes. I don’t know how eternal went because I never go there, but I know our commanders liked to kick you while you were being distracted in your home BL.

Ah, not terribly surprised then. Always seemed to be a relatively controversial character. Any idea if DR is going to bleed more players because of this schism, or is it fairly contained?

I would just like to say that I for one have enjoyed the fights this week…Yes, we got a long overdue thumping, but it was needed in my opinion. Things were too easy for too long and DR was really not getting better. Hopefully it will make things improve in the future.

I for one am proud of how far DR has come in the past 9 weeks, and had no delusions that we would get much higher in tiers until we got more coverage, and learned more cooperation.

Mag and BP at this point are much further along in both strats and coverage than DR. I learned more this week than the past 5 or 6 weeks combined. Thank you.

You can have same Tag check the guild name we don’t have any members in other servers. In past we sent few members for training to tier 1 but they did not represent guild on those weeks.

This, seriously. Theres a bunch of Mag players in this thread that really need to knock it off. While it doesn’t make demoralizing chest thumping right, DR was 10x worse about this all the way up the ladder, even when they clearly had no one to fight. I would find the posts if this forum had a better search function but at one time their, or at least some of their, strategy was to break the opponents moral and they openly admitted it. I feel this is karma for a lot of them, and not the kind you spend in game.

Reason why Devona is losing let me clarify for people who are curious: We have a strategy to make a head start and reducing morale of the enemy after that we control EB holding large numbers of enemies busy. This reset I wasn’t online I started playing 10 yours after reset at 2am.When I arrived all EB was upgraded and SM was changing hands between BP and Maguuma we upgraded everything captured SM and upgraded and then we reset all towers around it. We put our strategy on work everything was working fine sunday night we took 2nd place from BP and was first in Potential points. I was capturing BP keep while maguuma was taking over BP BL Evilzara and Kalkz contacted me asking to leave them and wanted to make a deal to leave their keep in that time I had 2 trebs up in bravost hitting BP valley keep. Since maguuma is in first place I agreed to them. In that time also devona was controling bay keep in BP BL and maguuma was controlling hills. We withdraw our forces and started a push to Lowlands we left hills in BP BL. in about an hour BP retake their BL and we let them take their side of EB and attacked maguuma from both sides but BP didn’t keep their word and they went devona BL and captured our hills Evilzara and Kalkz didnt keep their word giving me excuses people doesn’t listen etc… After that we got double teamed by BP and Maguuma both in EB and Devona BL. I held EB fine but our BL was failing. I got complaint from Dred that we are not helping Devona BL which is not true I sent all 70 and over to Devona BL beside my guild to Devona BL whenever they asked help for. He also Asked me to let SM go so maguuma and BP can fight over him. I explained him if I let it go we will lose even OL and lose our chance to fight back without upgrades and all those forces will go to Devona BL. In the end I decided to show him that’s what’s going to happen and let SM go and thing happened exactly as I predicted. And for all those left devona after 13 week win streak in first time you lose because of political issues and morale I have zero respect to you. Grow some balls.

note: I know people are going to say hey you tried to double team Maguuma and BP turned against you and double teamed you you have no rights to complain about it. We always target the first team letting other team alone in certain times because we play to take first place not second we never contact other servers BP did contacts us and when this offer was made I was told we have some kind of truce with BP. I did let other teams get SM just to remove its upgrades “in past”and I have been criticised about this matter by people who doesn’t see the big picture, in the end we took SM and captured all EB in few hours after my decision.

Answer to number issue: Devona doesn’t have a big population we always explained that in previous tiers to other server saying we do if you don’t believe you can check Devona’s population.We have active WvW players just like many other servers. We break enemy morale and use our low level players as a group in 1 big group as muscle scaring enemy of using same 1 big zerg in fast pace moving in both sides of EB. Last week in T6 we had pretty even numbers there have been so many times we were pushing enemy outnumbered.
