In all WvW/FvF/RvR games, population balance is hinged on casuals, always has been. When you are losing, casuals are off doing whatever, when you are winning casuals are out in droves. Add in a new PvE event or an all <color X> map and the shift will move harder in those respective directions.

This is pretty much what happened, imo. The turnout just wasn’t high enough at the reset because of the PvE. Frankly, the notion that “Oh, well NSP has the same event, no excuse” wasn’t the excuse. The excuse is that our population, which is different from all the other server populations, decided to PvE rather than WvW. Congrats to NSP for getting a large turnout (truly) on the reset. However, because of the huge blowout on the weekend, the casual players aren’t going to even bother and its even harder to organize since (as I’ve been told) we’re the “unofficial” Latin server. That’s just how it is. You’ll find the WvW guilds doing what they can to keep bettering themselves, but when it comes to server competition, it’s just not going to be there for this week. It’s why Terror will be leaving for more competitive play; it gets boring flipping supply camps.

So Terror is leaving because of the way this week is, or because this may indicate a lack of dedicated interest in wvwvw and future event weeks will probably be similar?

My guild is leaving because of the lack of WvW interest SF has, This isnt something out of the blue either we have have been talking about it for a few weeks now and we have concluded that to have the best possible experience in the game we need to move to a server that shares the same interest. There are alot of good players and guilds on SF if it wasn’t for the pve heavy side of the server we could have achieved great things in WvW.

If you read my post (Probably didn’t too long) you would know that a good mindset to have is a competitive one. Yes, winning is a big thing, yes it gives pve rewards, but you shouldn’t base your gameplay happiness on your server.

Take your guild, expand it, make an alliance, organize with them and make something of your server.

There is a big “Bandwagon” problem where guilds are jumping from server to server based on who is already doing well. This ruins servers and ruins the ranking system.

Take Ehmry bay for instance. The left ET in ruins and overpopulated Ehmry bay server, pushing out smaller pvp guilds that were originally on Ehmry.

It’s not a good thing.

We need more guilds staying put and working for success instead of leeching off of it.

Now, if you really don’t like the community it is fine, but sometimes it is best to just stay put and build your own success.

Well, I prefer to be in the same tier or even lower, but not have to deal with racism, bullying and tears, because I decide to enjoy a PvE weekend event.

I had a lot of fun the 2 previous weeks and I wanted to have fun this week too, I’m disappointed that because of the PvE event and the improvement of NSP, somuch tears were droped in our server and a lot of wvwers are leaving.

I think this week was just a setback for SF, but if more continue leaving then it is harder to come back.

That’s disappointing. It sucks having to hear about guilds moving to other servers.

NSP has had plenty of bad weeks, but I still have a strong sense of pride for the server. I’m especially glad that my guild never considers server transfers, even when NSP isn’t doing great; we just rally ourselves up and try again and again; because it’s fun, and I love seeing familiar faces and working with Os, SAnD, and all of the other NSP WvW guilds that like to work together.

I am really sorry to hear that mate. It is too bad that people take the WVW to that level. That is what I like about NSP. You don’t get flack from people if you do not wish to go WVW. Toble hits it right on the nose here. With the free transfers there is not dedication to the cause. Which means no drive to improve or become better. Server hoppers just just jump when the going gets tough. Oh no! we had a bad week it must be that the server sucks and we need to move and boom everyone moves. This cause a void in the server and it take weeks to recover. Where as if people where more loyal and said “Oh no we lost this week. What can we do to get better? We need more organization?”
and such.

I am not pointing any fingers at our current match up. This is true for all servers. I believe that if we had a little more loyalty and people choose to stay on their selective servers and grew the community. Then the game as a whole would improve. Ok that is my “2 cents” and yes it is not worth that much.

In light of this weeks matchup I was looking forward to a good run with SF and ET but the event had a factor on it. Win or lose I am just here to have a good time gaming and enjoy the little time I have with good people.

Yea, this is still a problem with the mass world transfers. Sure, the new limit that you can only world transfer once a week has definitely helped some, but its not enough. People are still jumping from server to server world. The free transfers need to stop.

Server transfers need to cost gems again. Perhaps their could be that you could transfer to a server for free if it has a lower population than your current server, but I can see trolling problems with that. (I caimaginein a server getting a mass “transfer” of bots and empty characters to clog the server so that others can’t get the free transfer to said server.) Still, the transfers need to cost gems again. Then a lot of the server jumping people and guilds would have to stop and think about how they could contribute to WvW and make their server stronger, instead of just jumping overboard the first chance then get.

If you want to know the thoughts behind my comment, then by all means send me a PM, but the long and short is that my view of what entitles you to trash talk others, is different then yours.

I do not care about anything else you wrote. I thought I had been clear in my above posts, but apparently not. Most of my posts have been directed at my own server, others to respond to where SF is, but just to be clear: I DO NOT CARE. I am fine with everything NS has done as a server. I have said go ahead and paint the maps green, does not bother me one bit. I play to kill people. I will pitch in 110% if we can take a tower/keep, if not I am content to run around and fight. My enjoyment of WvW has no bearing on the score board or the color of the maps.

You make valid points about your prospective on the game and how you play and everyone does too. We may not agree or even like each other but lets leave the killing to the WVW battleground and work here to grow a community and have fun playing a game.

You’re ignorant to what TG tried to do.
You actually told us to do exactly what we did and have been doing, weeks prior.
We all assembled into one vent channel and made alliances and talked to the other Guilds and tried to make strategies.
We squashed any rivalry we had with our own Allies
I and countless others recruited in WvW and out at every chance
We tried to find what would best help our server Commander wise and follow through with what people wanted in good Commanders
We were not stingy with our supply, and despite having work or other responsibilities, a lot of us would stay up waaaaaaaay later than we should of to try and help our night time issues.
Our “alliances” then decided to not show or follow through with anything discussed in vent or in-game
That, paired up with people treating our Guild like crud and talking down to us
That, paired with the server getting stomped in every match
We got sick of it and left.

Don’t try to spread some BS that we left because our community was losing. If that were so, we would of left a long time ago.
We did literally everything in our power to try and make a difference and stay.
But after so much disappointment and after FINALLY realizing SF is just not the hardcore WvW server we wanted, we left to a server that works with our peak times and that has the same interest in WvW that we do.

Please try to refrain from saying something like this “…it is a simple suggestion of staying because server hopping is a huge issue and you shouldn’t do it just because you aren’t winning.” about our Guild ever again, thanks.

I for one hate winning by this much as it discourages people from PvP in general. It was fun last week even though we(NSP) were losing we had a good time. We could always find a good fight. I usually do WvWvW late at night and have had many great battles with all the South American guilds. These guys have all been a class act. The past few nights I have not seen them as much and I hope that changes. Human Ranger from Chile with the Jaguar much respect man we have fought well over 25 times and it has been fun.

Here is hoping for a great week of good clean pvp goodness by everyone.

As a SF player, it really saddens me that you Latin American players have to deal with so much grief from the English-speaking players (both PvE and WvW). I’ve seen such shenanigans before in Lion’s Arch and it’s just not right. And it really disheartens me that you recently had to deal with this kind of stuff in WvW. We’re all in this together and are here to have some fun. And you are just as entitled to fun as the rest of us.

Just know that not all English-speakers on Sorrow’s Furnace agree or participate in the anti-non-English-speakers sentiment. You most certainly have some English-speaking friends on the server too! I personally love being part of a global community and I’m always thrilled to see other languages in chat (and even more thrilled when I can somewhat get the jist, as it’s been a LOOONG time since I’ve been in Spanish class! ). If you ever see me roaming around in WvW or PvE, feel free to look me up!

It was very unpleasant to be there, reading all the insults, bullying, even racist comments (We have a very large latin american population, I’m from Chile) and we must deal with racism everyday in SF, it’s a shame.

As a SF player, it really saddens me that you Latin American players have to deal with so much grief from the English-speaking players (both PvE and WvW). I’ve seen such shenanigans before in Lion’s Arch and it’s just not right. And it really disheartens me that you recently had to deal with this kind of stuff in WvW. We’re all in this together and are here to have some fun. And you are just as entitled to fun as the rest of us.

Just know that not all English-speakers on Sorrow’s Furnace agree or participate in the anti-non-English-speakers sentiment. You most certainly have some English-speaking friends on the server too! I personally love being part of a global community and I’m always thrilled to see other languages in chat (and even more thrilled when I can somewhat get the jist, as it’s been a LOOONG time since I’ve been in Spanish class! ). If you ever see me roaming around in WvW or PvE, feel free to look me up!

I find if you ignore stupid people saying stupid stuff like ‘speak English’ while then complaining about lack of off hour population 2 mins later, it only takes a few blocks and then chat becomes a lot more reasonable.

That said, while there is never an excuse to attack someones language/nationality/race/etc one of the prominent commanders from CL is a complete kitten. He speaks english fine, refuses to work or cooperate with other commanders that are already in a zone when he arrives. I think that individual is what has created a lot of the tension, specifically with other commanders. I have him on block and generally just leave the zone he is in.

If you are a commander and go to the zone with commanders already organizing, turn off your symbol and ask those commanders if they want you to do something. Running in and shouting for people to come follow you is rude and counter productive.

TG worked hard, they had a lot of successes and they tried a lot of things, they are one of the last original WvW guilds we had. They gotta do what is best for their guild, your view of that choice is irrelevant.

You’re ignorant to what TG tried to do.
You actually told us to do exactly what we did and have been doing, weeks prior.
We all assembled into one vent channel and made alliances and talked to the other Guilds and tried to make strategies.
We squashed any rivalry we had with our own Allies
I and countless others recruited in WvW and out at every chance
We tried to find what would best help our server Commander wise and follow through with what people wanted in good Commanders
We were not stingy with our supply, and despite having work or other responsibilities, a lot of us would stay up waaaaaaaay later than we should of to try and help our night time issues.
Our “alliances” then decided to not show or follow through with anything discussed in vent or in-game
That, paired up with people treating our Guild like crud and talking down to us
That, paired with the server getting stomped in every match
We got sick of it and left.

Don’t try to spread some BS that we left because our community was losing. If that were so, we would of left a long time ago.
We did literally everything in our power to try and make a difference and stay.
But after so much disappointment and after FINALLY realizing SF is just not the hardcore WvW server we wanted, we left to a server that works with our peak times and that has the same interest in WvW that we do.

Please try to refrain from saying something like this “…it is a simple suggestion of staying because server hopping is a huge issue and you shouldn’t do it just because you aren’t winning.” about our Guild ever again, thanks.

Let keep things civil. In a text base conversation is it easy to misunderstand each other. We should have discussion to benefit the community and not tear it down.

You make valid points about your prospective on the game and how you play and everyone does too. We may not agree or even like each other but lets leave the killing to the WVW battleground and work here to grow a community and have fun playing a game.

Civility, is gone, let’s everyone yell at Toble because she asked people to stay on their own servers unless you find the community making you and your guild unhappy and not just the success of others on your server; a comment made not directly at any certain guild but at anyone reading this thread in general. Her point is clearly insulting to a degree.

Well what you quoted is refering to your posts towards toble, not others towards the nsp server. Unless you’re quoting that and not referring to it.

Also, the ‘you should read’ or ‘learn to read’ or whatever variation is instantly insulting to most people and known by most to be since it’s a basic skill. There are infinite polite ways of saying the same thing.

1. NA Server – Official Language = English
2. Everyone will understand it, makes communicating in WvW easier.
3. Its plain rude and ignorant to talk in another language when you know not everyone will understand it. They could be saying anything about you and you would have no idea.

There are 13 designated language-specific servers in GW2…and they’re all European. There is no designated language for the remaining servers. Yes, SF is a NA server. Which means you can expect to see any of the predominate NA languages (English, Spanish, French) spoken on the server. And since we tend to see the Oceanic/Asian crowd on the NA servers (since they have none of their own), you can expect to see those languages on NA servers as well. Very fun fight in ET borderlands that just ended about a half hour ago. 3 hours of back and forth between Cliffside and our Garrison that NSP held, noticed SF took a good portion of their map and we finally took our garrison, I think I threw down about 3 golds worth of siege at cliff

I dont understand why players rage so much against the quantity of players in W vs W, cant be expected the enemy to have the same quantity of soldiers, “hey lets balance war”, and W vs W is were worlds colide, and the winning condition deppends from the number of forces the server have in the batlefield, and if any changes are being made to the W vs W lets just wait and see.

I just hope W vs W changes from this JQ model in large scale.
