If there is no night-capping how does it happen that DR won the PPT during prime time evening hours on the reset nights only to wake up and see SBI posting screenshots with 500-600 PPT and the point lead the next morning?

Every time I have gone to SBI BL there hasn’t been a queue. The one time I know there were like 40 of us there last night was after we saved Bay (and my squad was pulled from EB to do that). Afterwards we ran through the map to make sure that we had control before heading back to our regularly scheduled plan. I don’t really want to argue numbers because that isn’t a fun use of my time, but I will say this: I know we have outnumbered the other servers many times in this match-up, and sometimes that causes us to paint our numbers low and those we outnumber to paint our numbers high.

Yeah, I’ve been watching, and hope they find the tier that most suits what they are capable of soon and without weeks of slaughter.

Honestly I think we would have done fine in tier 4 against yb and cd if all these people showed up! We may have lost.. but it would not have been as bad as it was.

Even with the extra players we seem to have lately we’re still no match for the raw numbers that YB can field. Aside from reset nights we rarely even held our own keep in EB, we had to avoid it because they were constantly sieging the road to our base lol.

CD might be a bit more even during primetime but we simply can’t compete with their coverage (and neither could YB at times).

It’s still better than the SOR matchup where they had 40-60 man zergs assigned to individual towers/supply camps though. I remember a score update where we literally held one supply camp across all four maps. It was just silly at that point:

I bet it’s the best tent out of all the entire four maps though. (yeah I know, not helping .. guess I was trying to spin a positive out of that somewhere).

I still want you to repost that Asura Defiant pix. Best thing ever.

Our tent is probably pretty awesome. Mosquito net, double zipper doors, water repellent, you know…classy…and large enough for our entire WvW force to rest comfortably (sleeps 8…)

Of course there won’t be a queue on SBI BL. It is really quite interesting. On both reset nights we have taken pretty much half your BL, you seem to completely ignore it. Then when DR goes to bed you PvD it back and upgrade it fully for the next prime time. Once that happens, well, it’s no point going back there since you can just look for contested WP’s and defend the fully upgraded / sieged up keeps with ~10 people should the need arise.

And 5-10 people during the off hours? No.

You pretty much always have 25-35 people in EB during ~04:00-18:00 server time, at least during the weekends. Once you push us out of there, you move on to DRBL. During this time DR cannot even field half of that, and usually our entire EB corner and BL is flipped. The fact that it seems blue to you when you log on is because we PvD it back once your zerg leaves.

It’s interesting to hear this from a player on another server. In past weeks prior to this match-up, we were relocated to only playing in our BL because we simply couldn’t hold anything else. Most of our forces now are always in our BL, except when the whole thing is green and we station only a small group there to alert us if we’re about to lose something major. At that point the group from SBI BL moves on to either DR BL or IoJ BL, while our EB crew stays pretty consistently in EB (guilty as charged). If we sweep EB, which we have been able to do in recent nights, then we PvDoor DR BL, yes.

Anyway, my interpretation of our zerg numbers based on the number of green dots I can physically see on my mini map around me is largely irrelevant. I don’t enjoy talking about numbers, because everyone sees something else (culling!). Sorry if this got you riled up; it certainly wasn’t my intent.

We typically start very slow on Friday nights. That might change this week with the extra bodies we seem to have but reset nights don’t usually start clicking for us until around 10-11pm est. I’m not sure if it’s just the day of the week or the fact that we’ve gotten wiped off the map within an hour of reset for the past couple of months by YB and SOR but we just don’t seem to have the horses until later in the evening.

This is not the case anymore. In fact just last night (possibly the night before) Someone came into EB chat and said we needed help in SBI borderlands. They were told to let them take it- we could get it back easy later. So yeah that is the case these days. We don’t really care if it gets taken because we will get it back.

Last night when that happened and I was on, we did quite the opposite and went to help! I blame my lack of personal 24/7 coverage for this disparity.

OK, you got us…we really DO have massive numbers on all maps at all times. The reason they don’t always respond in time to your golem rushes is that they are busy camping the NW exit of Citadel as this is a prime spot for kills and badges and as everyone knows the “fastest” route to garrison. o.O

In EB we always have good numbers during NA prime time, mostly I think due to people figuring out they can get map completion in now. We have had plenty of nights in our own BL where we at most had 10-12 and there has been a DR zerg of 20+ running our camps and some towers. There has also been times when Kiwi comes on that we have good amounts in EB, our own BL’s and then Kiwi will go hit DR BL’s for a few hours. This is usually around 11pm est. It can be very hit and miss for us, but in EB we have consistently good numbers this week.

No hard feelings beyond that though, I learned to not care much for points a long time ago.

I believe that was in response for help keeping an non-upgraded south tower. I have never seen a time that a call for help defending an upgraded keep was ignored. There have been times help arrived too late or in too few numbers however. Of course I am not always on so there may have been times I am not aware of…

I certainly didn’t mean that 5-10 take your entire zones in normal NA hours! In that instance, the 5-10 group is usually something at 4AM EST (had to think for a second there). Maybe you guys are distracted elsewhere or something; I cannot say. It’s always difficult to qualify because the numbers I fight with my squad are likely not the entirety of your server’s presence on a given map and definitely not representative of your presence across all maps.

I think people are just tired of complaining about numbers or coverage tilted one way or the other. DR has done a bit of complaining bout that and we have complained bout their complaining while LOJ just seems to enjoy a good fight and putting up some great Keep defense in EB.

People who love to game, get passionate at times. Happens to many of us and has happened to me. SBI has been stomped repeatedly before this match by large zergs and we never really bothered to complain about literally having days of not reaching 100 points. Many of us that were around for our tier one days and then continued to fight our way down to tier five, took our lumps but continued to show up and took more lumps, so when we see DR complaining about numbers it sets us a bit off.

The fault lies more so in WvW design. If you want to complain ANET would be a more appropriate target, but alas you forum warriors wont get the same reaction outta them then you will outta us.

Green dots aren’t even reliable since pets and mesmer clones show up as dots. There really is no way to reliable count enemy numbers once above a certain level and you can only reliably count friendly numbers if the only people near you are in your group.

I think we are all going to be shocked by what we see when culling is removed in March.

Again, the only thing that I don’t like are screenshots of scores after a healthy night and morning of building points from PvDoor. I’m sure you’ve had people on your server complain about that when you were in a similar situation.

BTW, a lot of the people on DR have played in higher tiers before. A lot moved because they didn’t like the zergy style of play. I think the fights in our tier are a lot better than the fights in tier 1 or 2.

And when it comes from someone who tried to prove we spawn camp by posting pictures of a few of our players at NW Cit gate….and then trying to say that was the fastest route to garrison…lmao…there is no credibility in the statements at all and I should not even take my time and will not take my time to respond anymore.

I’m very passionate about my server, and have been with it forever. That said, some of our best representatives don’t post on the forums because they’re only interested in the fights and that’s their forte. It isn’t helping anything by retaliating to a nasty comment any more than it is to make the nasty comment in the first place. I’ve seen solid strategy from DR and IoJ in this match-up, and I know that I can continue to expect more down the road. I know that we also employ excellent strategy as well. Coverage plays an immense role in the success of a server as far as points and ppt go, and while I know I strive to maintain as many holdings as possible, I’m not playing for the ppt, I’m playing for the thrill of the combat and the strategies and counter-strategies that get used to take and defend a holding, or in the tactics necessary to come out on top in a massive ground battle. I have seen those tactics, and I have employed those tactics, and it is good. That’s all need be said.

We had a guild group out there trying to maintain control of our towers and keeps amongst all that open field fighting (IoJ was being uncooperative in the north and west parts of the map). Sometimes we’d be in the zerg and sometimes the zerg would see something shiny in the distance. Pretty good time regardless.

Is there going to be another attempt at another fight night? I think we should try to make it a regular thing. Is fun and I think it will help ppl learn to counter other classes in open world PvP better than sPvP or even group fights in WvW

True, and I respect that and apologize for that since we were on the same side of that invalid argument as you when DR was breaking out of T8. But, would you agree it is also insulting when you play hard and win a bunch of fights to win on reset night only to see some people post a scoreboard the next morning after PvDooring saying that they won the reset night?

People can read your community website WvW forum.

It doesn’t matter how well DR does during primetime, SBI will win because of coverage. I don’t need to be reminded of that and the people posting those 500-600+ scoreboards are not real PvPers, IMO. They are something quite different.

Is that the same thing as saying you wouldn’t be able to win if you didn’t have that coverage advantage? No, as I said before I think this would be a really balanced matchup.

Actually, it’s quite confusing seeing you say this when I have even given credit to an individual SBI commander in this thread.

My belief is that if WvW was only decided during prime time, DR would win this match up. It’s a fair assessment which I have yet to see you disprove.

My belief is also, that SBI has a much better coverage outside of prime time. I base this belief on the fact that I am based in Europe which means I play during 4am -> 9pm (server time) on weekends. During these hours SBI will typically wipe us down to ~50 points. There is no way this can happen if forces are equally matched (and they aren’t). The reason you are seeing me give credit to your large off-hours zergs, is because they are the reason you win. That is not the same as me saying your prime time players are completely kitten. On the contrary, prime time play is quite equal (DR usually wins it, but not by a tonne).

The fact that you have to come up with things I never said and use them as arguments against me is not a solid tactic if you want me to regard your posts highly.

Yes, and I have complemented DR and IoJ MANY times in this thread and said 99.9% are a pleasure to interact with on the forums and on the battle field. In fact I had a great time at fight night and partied with this guys guild mates I believe. (Who knows..maybe him?)

But you need to go back through the posts to understand that a couple here have over and over baited with thinly veiled insults. I should not have taken that bait and will not again. =)

I know how he feels. I was in this EXACT situation on Tuesday I think it was at around 7:00 EST. There was a golem and 3 rams and 20+ DR beating down the door…and just me defending…I sent out the call and a few brave souls showed up but too little to late to save our fully upgraded Bay…..these kitten keeps are just money pits…not a very good ROI really….

It can’t be turned off. The best you can do is learn to read “kitten” in a whole new light when on these forums

Oddly though, when you type in “kitten” it will sometimes randomly spell out a curse word. For example:

You see? There I typed in dick but it actually displayed as kitten. kitten it did it again. You’ll have to replace dick with kitten and kitten with dick in that earlier sentence for it to make sense.

Since there’s a lot of calls for fight club to be turned into a regular thing, how about we settle on a day and time now. Kaineng had a really good setup when they rolled by. they’d do it every thursday night when the score was basically settled and done before reset. So, every thursday around 7 or 8 server time? Time is easily debatable.

That was 9 people and not 20+
We didn’t have 2 full groups.

After we took it more people showed up. And when you guys came to wipe us with a big group AdQQSty saved our behinds.) They aren’t 20+ either, but hte buggers hit hard enough to be.

Is there going to be another attempt at another fight night? I think we should try to make it a regular thing. Is fun and I think it will help ppl learn to counter other classes in open world PvP better than sPvP or even group fights in WvW

I’m up for it pretty much anytime I’m online other than our guilds prime time (5:30-8:30pm server time).

The more people that come, the easier it is to find interesting matches. There is plenty of space and it is way more chill and laid back than you would imagine if you haven’t done this kind of thing or just want to watch.

Lol last night in I believe IoJ borderland we were going for bay (sbi) the gate refilled. DR had taken it from the other side although we did not know it at the time. They started flooding out lol. We still took it from dr right after though :P

Fightclub anyone? just choose a BL or we can default to Devona’s Rest BL to allow easier access for IoJ and SBI.
