I’d like to welcome both Kaineng and FA to some friendly duels at the windmill on TC BL tomorrow before our reset.

I’m hoping to get a good amount of DIS out there so hopefully we’ll see some other faces as well.

I think it’s rather funny how every time we face FA, the excuses for why they don’t win start rolling within a day or two of reset. Excuses always begin with “They’re 2v1 us”… then people point out that TC also has control of the 3rd servers territory… and are attacking the 3rd servers SMC.

Then excuses move to guilds transferring to TC. Then people point out that only a few medium sized WvW guilds have transferred here since release, while one of our largest WvW guilds has left. Meanwhile FA has had 4 just last week transfer… from a Tier 1 server.

Inevitably the blame shifts to saying we have more numbers… but as proven by Kaineng, we have very little players outside of NA. Sure we have some, but not nearly enough to compete with the likes of the Oceanics from Kaineng, or any of the Tier 1 servers.

Ultimately this then brings about name calling… calling us roleplayers and saying that we are bad in the open field… when to be honest, our guild has rarely lost a fight in open field against FA. Are we going to say it never happens? No, but we win far more fights in the open field than we lose, and I think there are several guilds that can say the same thing.

Bottom line… TC finds a way to win. Whether through better organization, better tactics… or hell, maybe we just roleplay better and that’s the tipping point.

Whatever the reason, in every week that TC has battled, we’ve gone up against some of the best servers and have had nothing but compliments from the likes of Kaineng, Blackgate, Sanctum or Rall, Sea of Sorrows, Dragonbrand and Maguuma. The only server who we seem to constantly see excuses coming from?

Well, I think everyone can see the pattern from FA.

It’s really a shame that some take this game so personally and get upset. It’s one of the strong traits of Tarnished Coast. I think its funny that the “friendly” server that keeps calling FA trolls and losers don’t hesitate to stoop to that level. That being said I also have to laugh to myself that while FA was ahead by upwards of 10K points earlier in the week TC was humble in defeat and once they started to get ahead by a great push on tuesday the humble turned into the chest thumping trolls not too long after complaining FA is like that. TC has done great this week as has FA each server has its pros and cons but if yall are going to be doing your “tarnished tuesdays” every week I think your employers and teachers are going to start wondering where yall are :P. Oh and thank you Kaineng for sitting back and watching the sparks fly I’m sure it is quite enjoyable for yall.

Mag also complained a lot… I had more trash talk group invites from them than any other server hands down. They were also pretty bad in these forums.

I’ve had some great convo’s with some kain people… swapped build/gear info etc. It’s not the whole server by any means. It’s just a vocal minority.

I hope everyone remembers that and keeps up the good spirited competitive fun next week

Well, I’m not going to say I’ve read all 19 pages of this. After skimming past some of the last few pages, I found my palm firmly imprinting itself on my face. If you have read all of these pages (especially if you are individually responsible for more than 10% of the posts in this thread), I worry for you!

In summary, I can enter WvW at any time of the day and have a great time. Thanks to TC and KN for bringing the pain and delivering that to me. I look forward to our next warm ‘n’ cuddly match up.

Many months ago, my initial impression of FA’s WvW community was… well… not a good one, to put it politely.

However, the server I’ve been up against this week clearly isn’t the same server I faced back then. I don’t know if FA’s culture has shifted, but, from where I’ve been standing, it certainly seems that way. And the change has been entirely for the better. Thank you, FA, for making this an enjoyable week and a real nail-biter of a match-up.

As for Kaineng… well, I’ve always liked Kaineng. This week was no different.

I think all three servers currently in T2 have demonstrated that they belong there. And we’re very well matched. I hope it just gets better from here.

As for these match-up threads… trolls be trollin’. Every server has ‘em. Let’s just drown ’em out.

I told you we had only a few people (4/5) – because I moved the parade up from its normal time without notice (everyone else was doing other events). Bringing a whole zerg to take us out was pretty funny. And if you think I was naive enough to believe that you weren’t going to troll us, you’re wrong. I told you where we were because I knew exactly what you would do and my dear, I just don’t give a kitten If getting wiped in a game bothered me I wouldn’t have charged into your spawn shortly thereafter in dolyak form.

I’m glad some people stayed to duel after wiping us. Thank you for being awesome.

Perhaps you saw some yaks/mooses standing outside your spawn later. That was us. Several FA’s saw us, stopped and stared, and kept going. Thank you for not murdering us. Someone also bowed to a yak that charged into the spawn. Thank you to this person as well.

Yeah there were like 4 consecutive FA and KN attempts on OL. I still can’t believe they didn’t manage to take it. It was VERY close for a while there. That gate came down a bunch of times.

I honestly think we were saved by the fact that both KN and FA were trying to take it at the same time. They ended up fighting it out as well, and it weakened both of their fronts.

Impressive drive through our north gate though by both of them, and impressive bearing of arms by TC. Very fun fight.

Those were supposed to be blown staff kisses since well, there is no way I could kill ya with just them. After having just fought off a NW gate assault, we figured you were going to set up a catapult in the boat. Of course a minute later, all of GODS suddenly appeared on the boat with you.

Now that I know that was just a romantic cruise in the Bay, I will definitely be more understanding next time

Alas…tis the bane of the Necro. A nice ranged weapon that might as well be blowing kisses for all the damage it does. Good thing it has all the marks, though.

Forum trolling aside, this has been one of the most fun matchups I’ve had since coming to FA. There were some great fights on all borderlands throughout the week and some epic tower defenses (I give TC a lot of credit here… Defensive siege placement looks like their specialty). Score wise, this is the tightest matchup of all the tiers as well.

Looking forward to another week of this matchup. Thanks for all the tough fights and loot bags KA and TC. I hope the bags from my corpse and the challenge of collecting them were just as rewarding for you as it was for me.

I think part of transitioning from tier 3 to tier 2 is figuring out how to kill alot •and• get ppt at the same time. If you kill people enough, they stop coming back. On that note…an I the only one who really loves reset? I look forward to it all day!

Ahhh, in that case I think I recognize you guys.Your the ones running around with the large scarlet L tattooed on your foreheads.
And I am quite sure I have seen a number of BV dead on the battlefield when running about but then again, I don’t pay attention to guild names, just the color of the enemy and bringing about their horizontal positioning.

Is this some weird TC version of the Twilight Zone? You guys didn’t win. You’re currently in second. We didn’t get 4 guilds from SoS….as I said before, name them. No one says TC isn’t gracious in defeat. You guys are terrible when you are leading….in this case, all it required was second place for you to gloat at 3rd place…even though the position shifted mid-week. That’s why servers like BG, SoR, etc don’t mind you guys because you always lost to them so they didn’t see the other side.

Maguuma definitely doesn’t like you guys because you pulled the same crap in their match up last week when you were winning. I don’t think DB does either but they are pretty indifferent to forum trolls so who knows.

If yo’re going to talk trash…. at least use a small amount of facts. And make it shorter.

I think part of transitioning from tier 3 to tier 2 is figuring out how to kill alot •and• get ppt at the same time. If you kill people enough, they stop coming back. On that note…an I the only one who really loves reset? I look forward to it all day!

An assumption is that people want their ingroup to have a positive image relative to outgroups, and so people want to differentiate their ingroup from relevant outgroups in a desirable way. I think it’s rather funny how every time we face FA, the excuses for why they don’t win start rolling within a day or two of reset. Excuses always begin with “They’re 2v1 us”… then people point out that TC also has control of the 3rd servers territory… and are attacking the 3rd servers SMC.

Then excuses move to guilds transferring to TC. Then people point out that only a few medium sized WvW guilds have transferred here since release, while one of our largest WvW guilds has left. Meanwhile FA has had 4 just last week transfer… from a Tier 1 server.

Inevitably the blame shifts to saying we have more numbers… but as proven by Kaineng, we have very little players outside of NA. Sure we have some, but not nearly enough to compete with the likes of the Oceanics from Kaineng, or any of the Tier 1 servers.

Ultimately this then brings about name calling… calling us roleplayers and saying that we are bad in the open field… when to be honest, our guild has rarely lost a fight in open field against FA. Are we going to say it never happens? No, but we win far more fights in the open field than we lose, and I think there are several guilds that can say the same thing.

Bottom line… TC finds a way to win. Whether through better organization, better tactics… or hell, maybe we just roleplay better and that’s the tipping point.

Whatever the reason, in every week that TC has battled, we’ve gone up against some of the best servers and have had nothing but compliments from the likes of Kaineng, Blackgate, Sanctum or Rall, Sea of Sorrows, Dragonbrand and Maguuma. The only server who we seem to constantly see excuses coming from?

Well, I think everyone can see the pattern from FA.

It’s really a shame that some take this game so personally and get upset. It’s one of the strong traits of Tarnished Coast. We used to get our kitten handed to us… and instead of trash talking on the forums, or making us excuses, we looked at why we died and learned from it. Is this some weird TC version of the Twilight Zone? You guys didn’t win. You’re currently in second. We didn’t get 4 guilds from SoS….as I said before, name them. No one says TC isn’t gracious in defeat. You guys are terrible when you are leading….in this case, all it required was second place for you to gloat at 3rd place…even though the position shifted mid-week. That’s why servers like BG, SoR, etc don’t mind you guys because you always lost to them so they didn’t see the other side.

Maguuma definitely doesn’t like you guys because you pulled the same crap in their match up last week when you were winning. I don’t think DB does either but they are pretty indifferent to forum trolls so who knows.

If yo’re going to talk trash…. at least use a small amount of facts. And make it shorter.

Anywho, new thread – new week. GL to all.

Funny to see FA players lash out at people who trash talk them when the people trash talking them are the same players FA trash talks when it is ahead….. Perhaps we should all just keep our egos in check and play the game instead of baiting people and then crying when they respond.

One thing I’d like to request for the next match-up thread is less insinuation that server communities operate under a hivemind. ‘Cuz they don’t.

I dislike trolls and chest-thumpers from TC just as much as those from other servers. Maybe even moreso, ‘cuz they’re comin’ from my ‘house’, so to speak.

There will always be poor losers and poor winners. It’s just PvP culture and it’s been that way for a long time. Every server is saddled with at least some of these people. There’s no escaping it.

But those of us from every server who don’t want to see WvW become a toxic stinkhole can step up and marginalize the nastiness with showings of respect and sportsmanship. Levity doesn’t hurt either.

No one represents an entire WvW community. Not even a handful of people do. Moving forward, I’d encourage everyone to keep this point at the forefront of their minds.

This week’s match has been the most competitive one I’ve been in so far. It’s been great. I’d rather the coming weeks not be soured by bleed-over from stupid forum antics.

Thanks for the great week, and to the guy who said Kain took a break for a night, I think your right, all servers have times where they take some time out to knock out the other game elements. Tues we did some guilds missions fluff, and random things, popped into wvw later (habitually), last night well … was another story. One of the funnest server wide / guild wide events to kick off a thursday … props to all involved, you guys are rockstars. Maybe I’ll sing for my server next week

To the matchup, I’m /ignoring the troll posts. Sorry, seen far too much of it past two days. FA and TC – we fought and battled almost everyday. Last night in EB, lots of fun.

No coercion, no planned tag teams, nothing. We fight when we run together, anything. The running around part is time waster, we want fights, so we look for them. All over. And both servers here provided plenty of them. Thank you for this week’s WvW efforts.

One thing I do want to say above the general thank you. I did notice that TC seemed to grow stronger and more present through out the week, where as KN and FA we first weekend strengths … but overall seemed that TC was growing in presence when our numbers slowed midweek. We still have large numbers, but there seemed to be more and more times Monday-last night where I saw formidable TC forces than FA. It was kinda role reversal from reset. I think this is because of the way TC as a server has developed (as I grow to understand it a bit more). They aren’t the one hit wonder, okay 20k back = 60% of pop showing up till reset. They seem to kick it up a notch every night. That’s my take, and it’s commendable.

I only saw BT? or whatever that early evening guild is?(apologies) once this week, and RET a few times since the weekend. The rest were not guild manage runs (so I think wrong place wrong timing came to play).

What time are you usually playing? Could be a primetime issue. BT is east coast. RET has grown pretty large so it covers lots of time zones but is still primarily N/A. I think FA’s two biggest guilds in terms of raw manpower right now are GODS and RET….maybe Drgn after that?
