I’m the person that will say good game every week no matter what place we end up in so maybe you should direct your jab elsewhere, because I am the last person on this server who shows up to chest thump.

Well, you can make whatever excuses you want about us being tryhards, all I am saying is if you are letting us win, then DON’T. Nut up and get out there on the field and show us why you are “#1”. What he’s trying to get is apart from your own server no one else likes jade quarry. You have destroyed a lot of servers through legitimate and illegitimate means alike and pretty much everyone hates you for it. You also created the bandwagon super server concept that every t1 server has to commit to just to stay competitive and avoid getting steam rolled.

Props to you for winning every week, just don’t expect to be universally loved for it.

I don’t like the whole mega ultra super dooper zerg server thing either. There have been servers stacked for a long time and JQ wasn’t the first to start this trend. At the end of the day its up to Anet to fix the issue and it could be fixed pretty easily. Maybe go share your anger about it with them.

Nah, it was on JQ to spread out a bit. But it was so much fun loafing to victory, why not just coast till another sos gets formed up? Maybe BG will be a more responsible overlord..

There will never be another SoS.

SoS was a unique server and one of the reasons for it’s success was it’s vast player base of Oceanics that was unlimited, unlike any other server.

Well.. Maybe you forgot but SoR was there to experience the rise of SoS. What in the lower tiers was a very close and exciting match between the two servers, ones I still think of as some of my favorites, was turned into imbalance by a steady stream of transfers. Maybe there were a lot of oceanics there before then, but the numbers were close and the fights fantastic. But, a few weeks in as more and more joined it became pretty obvious that even JQ and SBI were going to be outmatched. Did this stop the transfers? Nope, from T4 on up you guys never came close to losing, you’d become the bandwagon server. Not your fault this happened, but by the same token saying T1 sos was something unique seems kinda silly. I suppose your particular timezone being the originator makes it special to you.. But it just doesn’t matter that much which of the four zones is stacked, just that most of them are, to win. This is stacking.

I do recall someone from JQ posting a screenshot of a WvW map all green against SoR/SoS.

They relied on FOO to PvD everything when no one was on. Now that we actually have guilds to fill in the timeslot and seige working as intended (ACs), it’s not easy mode for them anymore.

Blackgate has been losing for too long, and probably will start losing again soon, but finally we have some competitive wvw on jade quarry. It kinda got boring after that +685 a few months ago :p

I 100% agree. Most of the server leadership on Blackgate has wanted an even and competitive Tier 1 for months, especially the efforts put in by Laylyn to try and make that a reality. In all honesty, I really want SoR to get more players as well. A true 3-way fight for first would be nothing short of perfection in WvW.

Players on all servers frequently sacrifice sleep. I’ve seen Indo stay up until 8am EST for 2 weeks straight holding SoR BL until TSym and AFS confirmed to go over there. That does not mean at all that they do not have real life commitments. Effort being put in shouldn’t be demonized. If anything, those who are intentionally not trying should be demonized for violating the game’s integrity.

I also think you have a very liberal definition of “chest thumping”. Maybe you haven’t read a word in the rest of this thread and don’t realize how tame my little gauntlet being thrown down was. There are now 28 hours and 38 minutes left to make a comeback. Plenty of time. Stop quitting just because kitten got tough.

This is because we figured out some of our opponents wait till he’s offline to charge in. We keep a rack full of Indo’s “In case of opponents misusing friends list” Just for this purpose in TW world HQ. However, his actual nitenite time is a closely guarded secret..

The biggest change in the scores, actually, seems to be because of the drastic change to how encounters work in WvW with the buff to arrow carts (and do an extent the still present buff to balista). People are pulling long hours but the biggest thing seems to be that old tactics are starting to be met with failure where before they were tried and true.

• Running 80 people up to a door and PvDooring: Doesn’t work anymore.
• Flash build fifty rams to melt the gate: Doesn’t work anymore, can’t flash build and even if you do, the rams will be melted by X arrow carts.
• Getting the door/wall down means victory!: Doesn’t work anymore, the chokes are death traps when three arrow carts and a couple of ballista can guard the door.

I was pretty much watching a case study of this yesterday as I was playing. Some people still (even us as we walked into Sunny to be greated with death) were in auto-pilot with tactics and getting met with a volley of death (to the knee). Tactics were forced to change. You now need to pre-emptively take out siege if a target is defended but, conversely, you do not need to build counter siege if there isn’t a soul around because we’re provided a 30 second window of action in which we can flash build rams and we can flash melt the gate (JQ did this to our Hills on BGBL). Golem rushing when spotted (as SoR demonstrated) doesn’t work no matter how many golems you throw at the gate. (I don’t know how many times I walked up a tower we had defended to find that the attackers had, for some reason, built arrow carts rather than rams on an undefended tower… with paper doors. In the time it took us to find out, they could have melted the door and taken the tower.)

Everyone is running around like idiots to a degree because, all of a sudden, old tactics don’t work as well as they used to (in particular because you can’t just throw bodies at the problem anymore). Encounters on the inners of keeps are going to need to be much more mindful of flash built siege (as in, the door going down should not mean everyone has zero supply and that siege is now done and done), bleeding a keep dry to prevent flash built defense is going to be much more important, and those yaks are going to mean a lot more when a single delivery means up to three more AC for the defenders.

And no, Hills is not impregnable as JQ and BG have demonstrated by flipping it back and forth. Bay is still Bay. And Garrison isn’t meant to be flipped because 30 golems walked up to its backside.

Walking up to a gate and smashing it down just doesn’t fly anymore and keeps are harder to take in a straight blitz if guarded (which is arguably how it should be… because before 10 defenders vs. 80 attackers amounted: Call for help, curl up and die as the door melts in 10 seconds to rams and golems.).

Fully agree, I would like SoR to get some love here, a close three way has always been my biggest want for WvW, we have got close a few times but never a true three way to the last day in T1.

I also think your recent additions have revigourated your existing playbase. First time for a while I have seen KnT out in numbers for example

This is true I was actually thinking this week that if you guys win it will be fully legit, not like last time. I don’t think your going to see much of a fight from JQ tbh though. I am getting so many lodestones, exotics and other expensive stuff that can finance my future WvW endeavors. I started farming Molten Alliance tonight and I think thats all Ill be doing for the rest of the week. The drops are 2G.

I can add insult to injury and post FOO members crying foul when BG won the first time because we “cheated” and had a spy on JQ siege spamming.

How about the ultimate chest thumping? JQ making a thread about an all green WvW map against SoR/SoS and actually believe they didn’t PvDoor and it took a lot of “teamwork” to accomplish.

Oh, we fully acknowledge it. Without all the help we get from KN (you guys rocks!), we would have still been fighting hard for 2nd instead for 1st spot now. With all the new guilds in BG, now JQ hopefully will find some true challenges, and the ball is now in JQ’s court to decide to fight for 1st or not.

Id say its unlikely. Most of the guilds at JQ have wanted a tight match for a while to the point where people have dissapproved of anyone coming to JQ so that everyone else could catch up. Now they have what they have wanted all this time. Personally Im not sure I agree with that attitude towards it, but I respect it nonetheless. I think Anet should be the one to help reduce the map cap to spread the population out (as well as reduce instances of skill lag). If guilds can’t get their team into a map, time to go to a lower tier server where they can fit. Right now JQ is considered stacked compared to most, although I think its part perception, yet we rarely get a queue. As a pug and the member of a small family guild that doesn’t get involved in WvW I wouldn’t want to move ever, JQ has a great community and Im happy where I am, win or lose.

I guess I will post on behalf of JQ? To clarify we are not taking any props to BG and there push, they are doing well for how thye pushing for this props to them. Regarding JQ, seen some posts about FOO and our NA crew (shocker right)? I want to clarify that FOO is still here and on JQ pushing with us every oceanic night, just because they dont flip every single map doesnt mean they are not with us. As for our NA crew, we have a very strong NA crew when we are all pushing like BG is now. Anyone who has been in T1 and has seen JQ for awhile knows we will never back down or step away from a challenge. That doesnt mean we will not run from a battle as ive seen some do (doesnt mean I approve but). I just want everyone to relize that JQ will keep fighting today, tomorrow, and for as long as we all around as a community. Because thats what JQ does we stand tall gz other servers on what they do, and move on. Lets keep this forum post about the competition and maybe a little less of the smack talk. So once again Good Job BG on your push you guys really wanting this and I respect that.

KN guilds transferring is really shaking up tier 1, I just hope that the competition is close, I don’t care who wins, I just want WvW to be interesting, and I’ve wanted this for a very long time now, even when I was on SoS and they were still winning.

This man gets it. I am surprised very few other BG posters have acknowledged the large influx of players they have received recently. Set this influx against some recent changes on JQ and we have good competition for number 1 spot. JQ needs to pull its socks up. Lets see if that can happen.

Oh, we fully acknowledge it. Without all the help we get from KN (you guys rocks!), we would have still been fighting hard for 2nd instead for 1st spot now. With all the new guilds in BG, now JQ hopefully will find some true challenges, and the ball is now in JQ’s court to decide to fight for 1st or not.

Agreed – next week should be great. And the end of this week isn’t exactly gonna be dull either!

As far as KnT being out in greater numbers, we certainly have seen our best participation in weeks. We did a bit of internal restructuring of our leadership to make it better suited to me not playing 40+ hours a week this quarter and I think that has been very effective as well. It got pretty hard when we felt like we are beating our heads against a brick wall while outmanned. Really excited to have our new friends from KN here and they’ve really energized our player base. I think all servers will be far more sustainable the closer matches are because there is something to fight for.

Not as far as I am aware but with these mods who knows. I got infacted last week for paying someone a clean unambigious compliment. Unusual from me I know.

How you spend you time is entirely up to you. If you want to post on forum of a game you no longer play then more power to you….

…. Yeah it kinda was. But you have to admire the persistance to get in that circle even after consequtive wipes.

Good fights indeed, the clashes near SE tower and the middle island were fun, SF had about 10-15 and Fire around the same or less. Lowlands encounter was lopsided against you Merc guys + WM but still found the fights enjoyable! Think I remember seeing you a few times myself

This is great news. I’m sure when your guild has reached full strength again we can have great fights during SEA primetime.

I was challenged by the presence of FOO on the battlefield. My best memories of the game are running with MERC’s Amarathy and alternately hunting and being hunted by the formidable FOO zerg. At first, we would wipe almost every time because many were new players and had never experienced the freight train FOO charge. I still remember some of Amarathy’s more colorful curses on TS (“If a train is coming at you, don’t just stand there with your **** in your hands!!!”) but that same week we started to learn how to roll with it. Eventually, we would win some clashes, working up to an average of 50-50, losing one open field fight, then winning the next. One night, our team was so on point that we didn’t lose a single battle, and the FOO zerg dispersed way before its usual bedtime. It was a proud moment.

Anyway, what I’m saying is that competition is what it’s all about. The tough level of play that FOO brought to the field kept me up well into the night. Thank you to the players on JQ and SoR who play hard but speak graciously (or not at all!) on the forums, just like Waha. We are actually honored to be clashing with great opponents that keep each other on their toes. My server Blackgate is ahead right now, but who knows what tomorrow may bring…a commander may need to quit due to real life, a guild may decide to retire, a new influx of players could infuse themselves into another server…the balance of power is far too delicate for anyone to really take credit when their World is winning, or to shift blame when it is losing. What matters is the entire WvW community showing up day after day to fight. Our Worlds are defined by our opponents, just as much as it is by our allies.
