Allow us to Guest WvW for Gems
I personally think the mercenary idea is great. The current matches are feeling stale.
The matches within each tier are all locked up with minimal shifts. This results in stagnation and attrition because the same people and groups are being fought over and over.
It is a win-win situation for both players and servers as it benefits
1. WvW players who enjoy competition and being exposed to different playstyles
2. Lower tier servers have the chance to get out of the rut with external help
3. It keeps the competition fresh and allows techniques to spread to other servers improving overall game quality
A 1 month licence could perhaps be sold at 500 gems. The cost has to be affordable though for this scheme to work.
It would also help promote WvW more into a league format where guilds can be so called “traded” and improve competitiveness. It is after all called Guild wars and nothing much at the moment seems to justify this title.
If right now, people don’t have a problem with paying 40g to buy commanders from other servers, do you think people would have a problem paying less to have someone sabotage other servers?

In the end, this would just be a gigantic can of worms. Way too many potential abuses and problems for it to be feasible.

Not going to lie, I had to re read this several times to figure out if it was a troll or not, and I am still not sure.
All this would accomplish is more and more trolls on each server. As far as WvW completion goes, until they completely removed it from WvW all I can suggest is actually go out there and help your team win………………. I have gotten WvW map completion on 4 characters without even trying.

Maybe also add a timer like the switch servers or number of times/servers you can guest on. I don’t think this would be that big of a problem. I’m not sure enough people would use it to be able to really mess with the rankings. Even if they do they also get the benefit of either getting more real money or draining more gold out of the system if people use it to get gems.

Your forgetting 1 major issue. What is to stop me on server A from taking advantage of this system to guest on B and follow their zergs around while I am on server A’s teamspeak. Now obviously not everyone would do this but even if 1 person would do this it is not worth adding the option to guest.

It’s already been demonstrated via problems we are currently having with a troll on my server and at least one of the servers we’re competing against, as well as reports I’ve read from multiple servers elsewhere, that cost is not an issue when it comes to players trolling or attempting to manipulate battle outcomes.
People have paid for multiple accounts, paid to transfer, paid for commander hats, etc., to accomplish their desire to control, manipulate or exact revenge when they don’t get their way.

Why not allow players to be mercenaries for different worlds? Make it so it’s, say, 300 gems for a Mercenary Licence, which will allow you to access a servers WvW as a guest for 24 hours. Maybe make it so it can only be used on a server that came 2nd or 3rd on the weeks reset? Or make it so that you need to use two licences for a 2nd place server and one for a 3rd place.
Not only would this help weaker worlds, it would help map completion!
I can’t believe something like this is even being suggested LOL. There has never been a worse idea on these forums than this.

It goes way beyond spying and blowing the siege cap… this would allow a large group of players to go into an opposing server’s map and force queues by roaming around doing PVE stuff.. leaving fewer slots for active players to participate in the WvW itself.

IMHO:
I don’t mind seeing people be able to be mercenaries for a server. Then again ANet would need to re-do how WvW is in general…
However a few things:
You can’t merc for a tier you are in
You can only become a merc for a map based off joining a side with lower wvw population in the map.
None of the original server players are counted for merc limits, however each native server side on a map, can not have more then 3 merc players from another of the lower populated wvw server sides. (So one server cant have a ton of mercenary players, another a ton of native server players, and the 3rd server completely crushed.)
Mercenary players get kicked from the map if they are not participating in Taking/defending objectives within xxx amount of minutes. (Think each event for the different objectives would have to have its own time limit.)
(Also avoids players joining a map to indefinitely sabotage a server.)
Allow a Vote Kick option on mercenary players from xx % of the server natives on a map. (In case of sabotage.)

Terrible idea, if you want to rep another server or help them out, transfer, if you want map completion andf don’t want to help work for it, transfer. WvW players have to put up with PvE BS for map completion, so PvE players need to stop complaining and put up with WvW for completion.
