So, in tcbl this morning. I had a 15 minute queue. Did a press 1 in map chat if you are on this map. Got 22 responses??? Even if only 1/4 responded, where are the other 70+ ppl.

when finally in, had three countoff’s from everyone there to help identify how many was in map over a period of 45mins using both voice and map chat.

never got above 35 on any of the tallies.

its seems closer to 130 ppl combined for all maps than an individual map cap this week.

Could it just be the effect of the new culling behavior which doesn’t put as much priority into displaying players of your own team than players of the other team? Say there’s a cap at 20 players of your side displayed at max at all times.

If all these complaints would have come from “stacked” servers like JQ, SoR or Kaineng – I would have said “tough luck to the bandwagonners”

However, I’ve played against TC last week – there were no talks about queue, and they did not get any significant bandwagonner transfers. And they were (generally) reasonable people. But they did have a rather stable large presence in WvW (which I envied).

It is pretty obvious IMO what happened here. ANet was not pleased with the servers stacking – goes against their policy. If you read that 4 month old post you see they wanted the WvW population spread out. When they announced paid transfers they did not expected the migrations to be that high (or maybe they did). And they decided to counter it.

So they started first with a rank reset, to nullify the previous ranks. Then the clearly lowered the population cap on the WvW maps. Big time – last night I was waiting for a friend on our BL to go do a JP…“sorry I’m queued. WUT? Queue on SBI BL? That’s umpossible!”

They did it on purpose. The only answer we got on this thread was “working as intended” – and there is no other comment from anyone anywhere.

Why ? To pressure people from stacked servers to move back to lower tier servers. WvW guilds that moved to those servers cannot even get their guild group on to play together.

More WvW distribution and also, some gem income. Unless the hardcore PvPers will just quit, like so many did before – and I’m not sure that ANet will be that unhappy with such a possible outcome.

It’s true that this is the weekend and it was always more crowded. It will be slightly better during the week. On TC you have 1 hour long queues – on stacked servers you have 5-6 hours.

I do not like what they did (though we on SBI-like servers are ultimately the ones that benefit the most) – it’s not respectful IMO. But it is their playground and we will have to play by their rules. Or not play.

Edit: I found this link on the french side where a french ANet official says it harshly:
“this is not a bug. Subject closed”.

Also if you read Habib Loews post here – it has three parts:
- one general part about how queues are computed separately
- one part of random possible causes of people ghosting on maps (but not saying this is what happens – just for info)
- one clear part “I checked. Working as intended”.

Remember when you had to que up to get in to the frontier or Thid for DAOC? Yeah I don’t either…. Crazy to think that a game over a decade old could handle RvR so much better than GW2.

Rose tinted goggles. The lag was absolutely abysmal, too.

i prefer lag over queues and culling anyday. point is DAoC had no caps on population apart from 3500 people on a server at once. i have led 500+ in relic raids. and half of the lag issues in DAoC were caused by internetproviders using dodgy traffic shaping.

if there are queues, it means that the w3 area is not big enough, doesn’t have enough server resources.

make the kitten maps bigger and hold 500 people from each side instead of those small copy paste jobs that hold too few people.

yeah there is definitely something wrong with those queues!I logged into FA BL today after a 15 min queue and only found around 20 people there and maybe 10 standing at spawn points. We were facing large numbers 20 TC and 25+ BG. how can we have a Q if we had only enough to defend all bunkered at 1 tower we had at that moment. Before reset and update we had the same numbers but reasonable Q’s u would find 40 in each borderland and Fa was filled up with players. NNK from Db had normally 50 people in our BL TC and BG have large numbers but I have never seen that many since update so im sure their Q is bugged too.

Hi all,

Queues are per map, per team – so there is a queue for TC players on the Eternal Battlegrounds and a different queue for TC players on each Borderlands, and a different queue for each of the other teams on each of the maps.

During the time it takes for players to change maps it is possible for there to be a queue even if there are less players in a map than the maximum capacity because the players taking up those empty slots are still “in flight” between maps. It’s also possible for a slot to take a while to fill if e.g. people see the queue pop, wait until the progress bar for the automatic transfer is almost empty, and then choose to renter the queue. At that point the system will move on and look for other players to fill that slot but all of that takes a bit of time. We’ve watched the queue numbers a lot and generally it’s only a few slots that are in this reserved state at any time.

Just to be sure I ran a quick database query for the last few days and all the queue numbers look quite reasonable.

So I don’t know where in the map those players are when you’re looking for them, but they’re definitely in there somewhere!

This is not what I am experiencing. Can you give us an update as to whether this is an issue you guys are working on so we can stop speculating about what the problem is. Even just a simple we are aware of a problem and are working on it or a working as intended.

I have looked for the players that are missing, they are not there. It’s funny that low pop servers are using this as some rally to get people to come back. Lol whatever, desperation > fact. To have the queue bug, you need a queue.

Stop asking them to acknowledge the problem when they said there isn’t any problem at all.

There have been plenty of times when there clearly WAS an issue with something and Anet just didn’t understand what the issue actually was, or had trouble reproducing it only to later realize and then finally get on it.

There are no reasons at this point to assume no problem exists, and it needs further looking into.

It seems odd how disconnected ANet is from this… It’d be quite easy to make a short post acknowledging the issue and say they’re working to fix it. It’d also be just as easy to say that we don’t know what we are talking about and that there is nothing wrong.

Saying nothing for nearly a week when people are going nuts all over the forums is causing more problems than the bug itself.

Yes, this will probably not happen on all maps.

The thing I want to know is how fast the que system can replenish the slots as they become open. If it takes 5-10 mins to fill a vacant slot (server search time + player response time), maybe this part of the system can use some refinement.

This is what we all want to know and why we are asking for an explanation as to what the problem is we are seeing in WvW. Since the reset when the majority of the problems started we have heard nothing. Or even just a working as intended so we can start to change strategies to deal with the smaller number of ppl in each BL and try to deal with either being outnumbered with a queue or vice versa.
